Interesting facts about the APPLE IPHONE and AT&T

I myself have never been a big fan of "Apple" nor AT&T for that matter. With the rolling out of AT&T and Apples new joint "Stick it to ya" Iphone there is a whole lot of fine print.

Here is a list of little know facts-

(1) You must sign a new 2 year contact with AT&T to activate the IPhone
(2) IPhones must be activated on a "Consumer" account this way AT&T can pillage your personal credit history.
(3) There is no insurance plans offered for the IPhone. Only a warranty thru Apple
(4) You must purchase a IPhone data plan to use the phone
(5) Phone will not work internationally
(6) Cost of phone is $499.99 for 4GB version and $599.99 for 8 GB
(7) IPhone can not be activated as a "Go-Phone". The only way to activate an IPhone is by signing a two year contract.

This all sounds like a bunch of BS to take advantage of the Apple fans and lure people to AT&T. I myself use AT&T however it was not by choice. I left AT&T wireless back some 4 years ago for Cingular Wireless only to have that company change their name to AT&T. What a drag. I myself never cared for Apple even back in the 80's when their Apple IIE's were poluting the school systems. Now they have a phone out that plays movies, surfs the internet and requires a commitment. Sounds like too much for me to swallow.

I myself will be waiting to see if the rumor of AT&T offering the Motorola Q with the new Windows 6.0
Should this rumor turn out to be true I guess I may find myself with AT&T for a little while longer.

In all fairness I have not used the IPhone, so I can not say just how good or bad it really is. I can say from all that I have read that I am not interested.

Well the phone is down to about $399.99 now and I think I want to give this phone a try when it comes time. Anyone in here have an IPhone? If so how has it effected your bill, did they try and rape you when the bill comes in? Does it get good reception?

AT&T now has the Moto Q which I have been looking at online, but I have not had the chance to use the unit like I have the Iphone. They say the new Motorolla Q for AT&T has the better 6.0 browser than the ones offered by other carriers. Is the web browser on the Q just as good as the one on the Iphone? I didnt see that the Q had 802.11 either which is something I really would like to have.

Well the Q is now out for AT&T aka SBC aka Cinglular aka Ameritech... eh-hem

Anyway the good news about the long awaited Q for AT&T is the newer 6.0 version of Windows mobile, however this improvemt is moot considering that the Q does not have 802.11 wi-fi ability.

I was a cunt hair from buying the Iphone just the other day due to its radient display and apperance. I then found out the blazing fast internet was because the device was running off a Wi-Fi 802.11 network connection rather than AT&T's data network. Upon switching the 802.11 off and using the data network only to browse with the IPhone you are soon left feeling mislead. The speed of the Iphone for the internet wireless is very slow and not even bareable. Granted the browser is strong, after about 15 mins of browsing I found several sites that would not work with Safari (Iphone browser). I also found the touch screen to often select other near by links rather than what I wanted. After awhile all of the fancy screen and such wore off and I was glad that I purchased the $39.99 Nokia without having to re-new a contract.

I have been using AT&T since before they were even AT&T. I still get the feeling they are out to rip me off, yet they are very good about fixing errors or overcharges. Usually it will require a lot of time a pateince to resolve however they have managed to keep my business for almost 5 years.

Truth be known my POS $40.00 Nokia phone has the BEST reception of ANY phone I have had. Its not a PDA and its smaller than a bar of chocolate. I do wish I could import my contacts on the Nokia from outlook, but you cant have it all. Maybe I will buy one of them refurbished AT&T - Tilt phones with the 3G technoligy. They are selling for $159.99 online. Maybe when I catch up...

Well Stoma, I went out and got the iPhone and let me tell you,

(1) Its a VERY powerfull tool
(2) E-mail is stable
(3) Safari Browser kinda blows with E-bay (Crashes a lot) Everything has been fine
(4) Easy to use, typing is not bad.
(5) Very slick looking and feels good in the hand (piss off stoma)
(6) Actually fell in the toilet once and still works
(7) Pretty damn good GPS
(8) TruPhone - More in another thread
(9) WiFi - BIG TIME BONUS ON 3G MODELS
(10) Fair battery life with media, movies MP3.

I will say that if you purchase an iPhone be sure it is the later 3G model. The WiFi feature makes this phone much better.

I did however notice a tremendous amount of over billing from AT&T for the first 3 months. Still to this date I have problems with my password being reset, and as a business customer I am unable to even view the details of calls until the bill comes.

Apples 3G iPhone in my honest opinion is an asset, AT&T on the other hand, well they tend to become the liability.

Well it seems they have introduced the new Iphone 3G S with its most powerful model sporting 32G of storage!

Seems there will always be BIGGER and BETTER things to come. Wonder if they will all be branded with an apple?

So everyone knows AT&T now has a $60 unlimited talk and text plan. It's nation wide and covers all calls and text inside the US.

If you are tired of paying $30 a month for the unlimited internet package teathered with an almost $100 unlimited talk plan for the AT&T/Apple iPhone then the $60 pre-paid plan is for you. People like myself whom have more than one iPhone in service can save up to $150 per month with this service.

Here is how it works.. If you have an iPhone goto your local AT&T store and tell them you want to purchase the $60 unlimited talk and text package. Tell them you just need the SIM card right now. You pay the $60 and they give you a SIM card.

Now place that SIM card in your iPhone. Whala, you have unlimited talk and text for $60.00 a month on an iPhone!

There is a catch... The $60 unlimted talk and text plan does not include internet. In fact its set to block the 3G internet portion, so you will not be able to use your internet outside of WiFi hot spots (3G and up users). Older 1st generation iPhone users are just screwed.

I myself have many internet hot spots, and really didnt care for the iPhone 3G's internet speeds anyway. Take for example when I was trying to download DuranDuran's Hungry Like the wolf. I arrived at my destination before the song was done downloading. I should add that I was on the expressway for 20 minutes waiting.

So there you have it. Another way to cut fat from your monthly bills, and at an almost $160.00 per month savings.... It really can add up quick!
