2009 Corvette ZR1 Supercharged 620+ HP @ $100,000

WOW!

According to the Detroit News this morning GM has unveiled its new Corvette project code named "Blue Devil". GM plans to compete with super cars such as the Ferrari and other high end performance cars with the release of the new 2009 Corvette ZR1 that will have a MSRP of $100,000 new. This new Corvette appears to have all of the bells and whistles and also sports a new clear panel in the center of the hood so that you can see the engine! The new engine is an L59 Supercharged V8 displacing 6.2 liters of Small block fury. Many body panels are made of carbon fiber and the special paint additive that has to be used to avoid fading is stated at costing some $60,000 a gallon!

While no rock solid numbers have been stated it is rumored that the new 2009 Corvette will exceed 200 MPH and be able to go from 0-60 in first gear! The new Speedo boast 220 MPH with a 6500 RPM Redline and 7000 RPM max.

The new engine is built here in Michigan by hand at the Wixom plant and GM claims they will beat out other super car manufactures for two thirds the cost. I myself find this very believable as they have been doing it with a little help of the aftermarket for years.

While I don't foresee owing one of these vehicles any time soon I sure would like to get a feel of this vehicle under wide open throttle.

Anyone else have any information about the 2009 Corvette ZR1 that I missed?

Information provided by the Detroit Free Press December 20th 2007.

Jim, I hear that Ford Motor Company spent some 16 million or billion on paint color. I cant remember where I read that, but then agian if it was on another forum it was prolly bull *hit anyway. I am sure that one gallon of this $60,000 adative was enough to do all the vehicles, but then agian I aint the General.

Well I dont know how, but the 1st one has already sold on Barret Jackson for 1 million dollars!

Un-real that you can buy a 2009 in 2008. But for a million bucks what the hell right? 2009 production cars traditionally would not be available for sale until after the 6th month of 2008. Guess if you have a million bucks they will bend the rules a little for you.

Here is the link to the Barret Jackson sale

We covered the 2009 ZR1 the day it was released in the papers here in Detroit.
