Thanks Rastus, and yes it does move out pretty well! Although I hate to admit it, I think the kids Firebird could take the Corvette in a 1/4 mile run when finished! This is only because he has the better exhaust, gear and other modifications whereas mine is bone stock. I'd probably eat him alive on the highway though! LOL

The ride is best described as "Roadster" feeling. Being a convertible the large bumps and pot holes really tax the chassis and you can feel it. Most all roadsters I have driven in have this feeling, including the Mercedes 560SL, right on down the line to the convertible Mustangs, Camaro's and Firebirds. I recognized this immediately on the test drive. That being said, the ride is very sporty and stiff, going down the highway at 80 MPH and hitting some of the cracks in I-96 to the Lodge actually causes the care to momentarily go airborne so you must REALLY be careful when at high speeds on not so good roads. To be honest I'd rather be in the 560SEL at speeds over 100 on a bumpy road because if you were really on the throttle at high speeds and hit a bump you would no doubt have a serious risk buffing out or losing control. But that's not why I purchased a Corvette, I purchased it because it seems to fill a void that no other car except a Corvette can fill... Driving it, while ultra-low to the ground looking over that long hood. The sound and feel are all somewhat magical, especially on a warm night with the top down. The performance is fairly good around town but on a nice smooth patch of road it will really pull hard and keep pulling. On a smooth road it handles superb, even for a convertible. It defiantly pulls harder than any 560 I've ever driven in any configuration, but lacks that control at higher speeds that Mercedes seems to have really mastered.

Overall I am pleased with my purchase, even two days later. I love the way it looks and I really enjoy driving it and I intend to daily drive it up till November or the first salting of the roads. In this time I'll be able to make necessary repairs on the family car (560SEL) so she is safe and running well when it goes back into service directly after putting away the Corvette. Hopefully I can pull off a paint job in this time, but honestly I could live with the paint on the Benz a little while longer now that I have a flashy car. More than anything I want to get the timing chain work done and at the very least all the crusty areas cleaned up, treated and touched up. It's going to be a rough winter knowing I can't drive the Vette, but the Benz is still going to be our "Family" car once all the repairs are complete. 

I save $150 on plates by buying a new car. MSRP of the Vette is just a hair under $40k which = $150. The Mercedes MSRP was a hair under $80k which = $300. I am curious if they will make me pay the difference this November when I transfer the plates back on the Benz because they raised the minimum age for "Historical Plates" to 26 years. The Benz is technically 26 years old as it was made in July 1990 but it's titled as a 1991 so that's the date they go by. Historical plates only cost $30 and last 10 years, so obviously I can't wait for that!
