President Trump has attacked Syria without Congressional approval, therefore violating the War Powers Resolution.

The War Powers Resolution is a series of barriers that Congress erected in the wake of the failed Vietnam War, to defend the Constitutionally Mandated role of Congress, in deciding when the US-of-A will use Military Force, if the US-of-A has not been attacked.

The "outer wall" of this act is section 2(c), which affirms that if the US-of-A has not been attacked, The President must receive Congressional authorization to use force.

(C) qt. "The constitutional powers of the President as commander & chief to introduce US-of-A armed forces into hostilities, or into situations where imminent involvement of hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances, are exercised only  pursuant to...

1. A declaration of war.

2. A specific statutory declaration, or,

3. A national emergency, created by an attack on the US-of-A, its states, or territories or possessions, or its Armed Forces.

I have mixed feelings on this. Putting my political affiliation and desire to get President Trump in trouble aside. I believe Congress is required to declare war, to fund sustained military actions, and to authorize anything that involves non-special forces missions that use regular enlisted soldiers. The President has complete control of the military for several reasons, not the least of which being an understandable need to be nimble and flexible.

Keep in mind, we have U.S. troops in Syria right now on anti ISIS missions in collaboration with Russian soldiers. When chemical weapons are unleashed anywhere, it causes concern for the safety of our troops and the President has absolute authority to protect U.S. soldiers without having to go through Congress. Likely this is the justification that will be used by the Trump administration whether legitimate or not.

Personally, I believe the U.S. needs to be categorically against genocide whenever or wherever it rears it's ugly head, the same holds true with regard to the use of chemical weapons - especially on civilians. To this end, having the President launch a missile barrage now and then without going to Congress first, seems consistent with the powers of his office, and consistent with tradition. Obama launched Tomahawks into Syria in 2014 after all, and I like holding people to the same standards whenever possible.

If President Trump sees a need for an increase of military action beyond this emergency stop-gap measure, then he absolutely should consult Congress about it. I only wish he would allow some of the civilian refugees in here that he apparently cares so much about now.

Good reply, in terms of measuring your Presidents decisions, based on previous Presidents movements & decisions in similar circumstance...Without sounding like a smart-ass, Mr.Bush, & Mr.Obama broke this same "War Powers Resolution", that was put in place, to prevent what occurred with Mr.Johnson, at the time with regards to the war in Vietnam. Where he could basically declare war on a country without Congressional approval.

I dispute that your Presidents are breaking the laws of your country, without question or penalty. This is how a Fascist Dictatorship governs, & gets away with murder.

I firmly believe from historical evidence, & on-going example, that regretfully, your elections are if not rigged, then the "Running mates" are essentially the one & the same, taking orders from a higher authority, to meet the demands of Globalism, & a New World Order. And there's little it seems to be done about it.

Just as Mr.Obama "had" to continue the war in Iraq, after promising to immediately bring the troops home once elected, so is Mr.Trump following the same orders.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss...

President Trump hasn't broken any international laws! Obama pushed the WPR to it's very limits almost to the max with his Libya war!

Maybe the first North Korean nuke needs to hit Australia?

I just can not believe the ignorant mentality of these tree hugging liberals... They aren't happy unless they are whining and crying about something and to be quite honest the ignorance of Democrats trying to stuff this nation full of refugees and illegals should amount to high treason! What happens if there is a big war and Americans are sent off to war while this immigrants and illegals all dodge the draft on religious grounds!? I hope the first people they rape and pillage are your friends and families!

Anyone here that doesn't pledge allegiance to the flag is a visitor, they should have no rights to vote, collect welfare or any other sort of concessions! As visitors they need to spend money and stimulate the economy or be considered a vagrant and asked to leave.

There are much better things in life, to pledge allegiance to, such as the miracle of life itself.

To place your hope in a flag, is like building your home on sand at the beach. One wave & it's gone.

The people in power today are proven psychopathic killers. I will not bow down to them in fear.

All the money in the world that exists, is enough to keep everyone fed, safe, educated & living a good healthy life.

Greed & power are the destroyers here SELLC, & always will be. It would be nice to change that I think.

Everyone sees things differently, & more in focus when they're dying on their deathbed, drawing their last breath. The real important things life offers present themselves, as that's wht you'll miss the most. Too late to change then !
