mercedes 450 slc performance engine parts

Hello All,

I am based in an engineering company in the UK.  We have been asked to source some performance engine parts to increase the horse power of a Mercedes 450 SLC engine.  The customer wishes to increase the horse power to in excess of 300 hp.

Please can you let me have any contacts preferably UK based who I can contact.

Thank you in anticipation

Yo,

Source a 3:46 LSD differential from a 3.5 ltr V-8, along with its speedo drive gear. This will lower your top-speed, but likely give you around 20-hp gain.

A custom fabricated, big-bore, full-length dual-exhaust-exhaust system will deliver a likely further 10-20-hp.

Meticulous machining, & blue-printing of every engine component, followed by careful & thoughtful assembly will also see further improvements.

Somewhere within this forum, AMG camshafts & their specifications from a high out-put 5.0 ltr M-117 V-8 are given, though I don't know where you could source any. I'd doubt that AMG has any parts from the 1970's still sitting on their shelves, though it may be possible to have your current camshafts reground to these specifications....

By my calculations, you potentially will see your HP numbers rise from the 225-hp mark, up to at least a real 275-hp...

Cheers,

Rastus

The small valves and low lift greatly reduce high speed breathing making it difficult to get that kind of power. Good for low end torque but not high RPM.  The bore is too small for larger valves.
