There is a reason that any given car maker recommends their own parts. It's not because they want to nickle and dime their customers... quite the contrary, it is because OE parts are superior, and sometimes vital to proper operation.
Sure, you can go to your local Kmart and get Fram filters, and it may even save you a couple bucks. But check this out:
We can lead a horse to water, but can we make Rex drink???
I hope you dont mind me editing your post, however that video was an excellent showing of why people should stick with the motorcraft filter.
I myself have had problems with the Fram, and the fact they offer a diffrent cap to correct the problem does not help when a new owner buys the truck unknowing. What this does is set someone up to take a big fall when they go back to a motorcraft filter using the Fram cap.
I myself use Motorcraft, and I think everyone else should too, however with all these quick oil changes places and people trying to save money, this information could be falling on deaf ears. Hopefully that video will help many to understand.
Your on a roll tonight Pogo!

I love selling $84 oil filter caps because the customer got a cheapie oil change elsewhere.

Editing posts... deleting posts... Not that this can be dangerous... but it is nice if we can change the words that a person states... censorship at it's finest.
You are one fuckin' piece of work, How long before you have the balls to change my words around to suit your needs????
It was such a good video I wanted everyone to see it, and I didnt want to steal PowerStrokers thunder by embedding it myself. Whever there is a thread edited it will say by whom and when. Its not like these things would go un-noticed.
When the dust settles you may be the one wanting me to change what you say! LOL because you been a bubble off in about every one of your edumacated guesses thus far. But damn.... That was a good find on that filter video from PowerStroker!

I can't take credit for finding that video. It was actually presented to the entire Powerstroke Mafia last year by a member named Jimmy M. I merely forwarded it to this fine site. You haven't met him yet Rex... Actually there's a ton of Mafia members you haven't met yet. Maybe they'll drop in and say hi one of these days when they're lost and need your massive diagnostic brain to bail them out.
Now you Powerstroke Mafia guy's aint going around talking 'bout OUR CODE in public are ya???? cuz you know ,,I'm just sayin bad things happen to guys that talk to much..Capiche ?

First time poster... not so long time observer...
Motorcraft and Fram oil filters are the exact same filter in a different box. Both are repackaged Racor filters. So are IH and Purolator oil filters. Any other filter isn't worth the ink on the packaging. Don't get me started on what I think of WIX oil filters.
I am very interested in what you think of Wix filters actually. While I have never purchased one for a truck, I have used one in my other vehicle.
Whats the deal with Wix? And also FRAM is not the exact same filter as the Motorcraft. Can you provide PROOF of this? Hey Pogo, what do you got to say about the Fram being the same as the Motorcraft?

Doesn't the Fram one come with that stupid fucking cap that causes stupid customers to discard their $84 stock cap?
I run ford filters in my shitbox, so I haven't really inspected the a/m filters.

Is this some kind of born again yankee thing? I have a lot of folks that I consider friends in the US.... calling someone a friend doesn't come easy to me. A statement like would be abhorrent to these people... I'm a goofy fucking Canuck and I would never, ever dream of altering youe inalienable right to an opinion....
I hope you dont mind me editing your post,
This is my website and what I say goes....
I hope you dont mind me editing your post,
I will treat you truck as if it were mine.... and it will be mine eventually....
I hope you dont mind me editing your post,
Fuck.... I wish I l;ived in a "free" country. Free trucks? BONUS!!!!!!!

What bothers me is that I never bothered to take photos of these items all this time. It appears that PieKiller has offered up some serious backing for his claim. Im still going to shoot some photos of the ones we are getting here from now on, just for the sake of having the photos.
Good photos PieKiller... Im sorry I doubted you, (Edit), however I would like to see the top sides of them filters.

Im going to finish cleaning up and putting things away. I been up too long.
Pie Killer is showing the bottoms of the filters. It threw me for a minute, hopefully it dont throw anyone else. How the hell did you get them to balance like that? How about the part numbers. Most of us do-not use patent numbers to compare parts, but a shot of the tops would be nice.
Im going to get some sleep before you guys wear me down and make me loose my mind and toss me in the ditch.

Yes they all look the same, however they dont look like the SAME filter that goes in the 6.0 PSD. The ones you show seem to be flat on both ends, and since you didnt take the photos, and you dont know where the hell you got them, I am willing to stick by the original claim that you are full of Chit and heard wrong.

What if your wife went to the store and instead of buying Quaker brand "Crunch Berries" she got you the less expensive generic brand supposidly made with the same stuff, that came in a plastic bag without the Captian!?
I dont know about you, but I would be a little upset. I think your truck would be too.

I'll have one of those guys in the know get them filters and do a micron analysis on them to see which one is best. I see that Amsoil now also makes a 6.0/6.4 oil filter also.
Fuckin filters are cheaper if I just slide across the bridge and pick them up, anyhow. Can buy the FD-4609 fuel filters at Murray's for crying out loud.
Glow plugs for my 6.5 GMC? $8.99 each at Otterzone. MY COST on them here is $21.

There's always one person out there that you can hand a red crayon, and they will argue to the death that the crayon is infact blue... That really makes my day.
Mebbe I will look into the fram/puro filters. My cost on the FL-2016 is like $24....
Your parts department makes you pay for oil filters? No freebies or tradesies? Our PM will just let us have things like oil filters for free... Perhaps not a "slow moving" filter like an FL-2029, but they cost a fortune, and we don't buy them by the skid like the more popular filters.
Sometimes you get a freebie, but it isn't real often...not real often at all. 'specially for a 6.0/6.4 :(
