Well to my supprise in the mail today I recived an information sheet that outlined special service procedures for the Ford Diesel Power Stroke trucks.
While I am well aware of the service requirements regarding coolant and oil changes I was very pleased to see that Fords took the time to ensure that even if I wasnt a mechanic with this knowledge, that I was aware of the importance.
I understand that when the 6.0 liter was introduced Ford's made claims that these new diesel engines were maintanance free. Now most mechanical folks would know that regular oil/antifreeze and fluid changes were still to be expected and performed, however there are some people out there that are absolutly clueless when it comes to keeping up a vehicle, regardless if its diesel or not.
Very specific guidelines were laid out within this information sheet regarding the use of oils and recomended service intervals for both light service and extreem service. Also mentioned was the use of Motorcraft parts to ensure the best fit.
What REALLY impressed me was that there was no sales pitch. Meaning they did not say "Bring your truck into a Ford dealer" or pitch any kinds of sales or promotions. The letter indeed come across as GENUINE.
I am glad to see that other than sales offers for a new Ford truck, that they were also looking to help people make their old Fords last longer.
Good looking out Ford!
