Ford Scorpion 6.7 Liter Diesel Engine.

I been doing a lot of research about the new Ford Diesel 6.7 Scorpion engine. The photo above is rumored to be actually from Fords, however every one that I have seen was branded with the same website. Maybe some of our Ford guys can tell us, as we linked up to the photo.

What I find curious about the new design of the "Two in One Supercharger" that is being called a "Twin" turbo. How can they say this thing has two turbo's when both turbo's share the same shaft, and use the same housing. Funny yes, but this leads me to thinking the price to repair later down the road will be MUCH more expensive than earlier models. While Fords does boast HUGE power from this oddly named twin turbo setup it will be interesting to see what independent testing will show.

Another advancement that Ford's seems to be pusing is that this new Two in One Turbo is possitioned in the valey between the heads, rather than on top of the intake like traditional engines. It would seem to me that the additional heat a turbo displaces should not be soaked into the engine block and seam of the headgasket. I could be wrong, however Ford's never did claim it was for better performance rather cited the improvement for "Space Savings". This could be a problem down the line, but we will see.

Another concern is the mixed iron and graphite block. Little is known how this combo will hold up, yet Fords claims it makes the block twice as strong as an iron block. Hope its heat resistant because them valley mounted turbo's are sure to keep it toasty.

It does appear that the main pump for the Piezo injectiors has been relocated to the front, however the images I am seeing of the injection system dont show what all is around the system, so it could be a PITA to get at.

I haven't heard Ford call it a twin turbo. I've heard them call it a "single sequential turbo."

You may be right, however a few videos I have seen make claims that its got two turbos. I might add that the videos did not appear to be produced by "Fords".

Here is the video I seen, it takes about 5 minutes to get to the new Ford Scorpion part, but its all interesting none the less.
