But Rex, you're a business owner... You should like the idea that you can hire cheap foreign labor.

You and I both know cheap foreign labor might be good for droping fries in the hopper, sweeping floors, running a whore house or pushing the lawn mower, but when it comes to skilled labor such as car repairs, and dealing with customers there really isnt much there for the Auto-Repairs, unless you are an oil change joint.

Who would you rather have cooking your dinner? A foreign laborer with no papers, or an American who will pay the price if they undercook or serve you bad food?

Who would you rather see have a job? An illegal laborer or kid in your neighborhood whom would be otherwise hanging out doing nothing?

But Rex, you're living proof that being a citizen doesn't necessarily mean you're qualified to fix a car.

I know it is in your nature to attack anyone whom may be better than yourself, however do you really feel you are a better mechanic?

By your own admission you can't fix anything unless its a newer Ford truck. Your brain simpily shuts down and you admit failure.

A real mechanic will fix anything with wheels, and even some things without. A real mechanic will give credit when credit is due. A real mechanic will not put blinders on when the name plate of the vehicle isnt to their liking. You are more than welcome to have your favorites, but to cast aside everything else means you are LIMITED. Specialist often times specialize in things because they can not garner the brain power to bring it all in. Specialist often times become masters of fucking people within their specialty because they have done it so many times in the past. No one has a bigger parts cannon than the dealership.

I understand you have hit what many would consider to be a "Grand-Slam" of a post with your sharing of the new 6.7 liter Scorpion engine, however it is important to understand that this engine wasnt of your design. You yourself were taken back by it's design. It did not get past the drawing board by people whom limit their ability to think diffrently. We have yet to see how this engine will perform in the real world, and we have also yet to see how the people trained to repair it will rise to the challenge.

I think you got potential. Do I think your as good as me? Naw... But you can keep trying.. I am not affraid to learn something new, because you dont have all the answers, nor does your employer "Ford Motor Company".

Rex, you are a general practitioner, I am a neurosurgeon. Sure I could reduce myself to the scrotal puss pockets and anal fissures you deal with, but that would be a waste of my talent.

Ah you're right Rex, I gave you too much credit. You're more like a nursing assistant.

Hey PowerStroker.... Outside of working at a FORD dealer isnt being a Dual Senior Master Tech pretty much useless? I mean it's only recognized by a few, where as my Certifications are considered valid ANYWHERE, regardless of make or model.

Gosh so much for that Ego huh? It's sort of like trying to use an American Express or Discover card, at many places they dont accept them, they are worthless. My certs are like more like Visa/Mastercard, accepted everywhere!

Aside from my being a Ford dual Senior Master which means I have the minimum 5 year tenure at Ford, and completed every possible Ford specialty area training which takes over 600 hours between web courses and actual clasroom courses at Ford training centers making me eligible to perform ANY Ford warranty work, I also have other certifications that are more widely known by other manufacturers.

I have a degree in automotive service from Dunwoody College of Technology where I graduated top in my class.  I am ASE certified in all 8 Automotive Areas which makes me an ASE master tech.  I am also L1 ASE certified making me an advanced level master.  This sounds good but I must say I only do the ASE thing because it is recognized by everyone, personally I think ASE's are not a good measure of ones competence and they are just in it to sell tests.

I am also a registered Journeyman medium/heavy truck technician in both the Teamster and I.A.M. Unions.

I am also licensed by the EPA for handling automotive refrigerants.

What exactly are your certifications exactly Rex?

That is not bad PowerStroker.

I am a Michigan State Certified Mechanic. I am also registered with the State of Michigan to perform repairs for compensation.

I received hands on training from a Master Mechanic for 12 years however I was certified as a licensed mechanic at the age of 18. In high-school I only had to go to school for half days because I was working as a mechanic the other half.

I was offered schooling at FerrisStateUniversity in Auto-Repair and declined. I do not put much if any stock into the certificates or degree's that are often handed out by Universities. I learned at a young age that many teachers are no smarter than the pupils they are paid to teach. Kissing ass to an inferior being struck me as counterproductive. The testing that exist to pigeon hole a students intelligence also seemed like a waste of time as often times it will prove very little in terms of real life performance.

What school does prove is that a person is capable of taking orders and doing as they are told. These qualities have never been a cornerstone of my intellect, and I simply refuse to give respect to someone just because they were able to woo the teachers into giving them a piece of paper saying they are smart aka degree.

I graduated high-school because I felt it was important to demonstrate that I could complete a long term commitment, even though I didnt like the fact school was required.

With regards to the crooked Unions... I personally wish they would all be forced out of existence. Unions are much like politicians, only you pay them directly from your check in the form of dues. I would NEVER pay someone else to represent my best interest outside of a lawyer, and even then most of the lawyers I know have been broken by the simple fact that in the real world they realize it's not about what you know, as much as WHO you know.

Now I understand you wish to garner respect for the fact that you were able to pay your way thru school, and I also realize you need these acknowledgements to perform in your daily routine of being told how and what to do, however for the self-made Entrepreneurial type whom often times employ people like yourself we look for these things to prove you are reliable and dedicated to the craft. We take stock in the fact that you do as youre told otherwise you wouldnt have gotten the ass kissing certification known as a degree. People like you are imperative to a healthy business operation set up to do one thing.... Make money. Nothing more, nothing less.

I respect your dedication to the automotive trade, but if you think youre paid for references impress me outside of proving that you can work well and get along with others, then you are mistaken. I realize your mind is like a sponge, however I feel you somewhat lack the ability to tie together all that has been taught to you.

How do you measure success PowerStroker? The guy that writes your paycheck (Owner of your dealer), what is his level of education? Is it greater than yours to have such a decorated person working beneath him?

One thing I do see in you is your confidence level, however if taken out of your dealership environment and stripped of your unions and paid for degree's I think you would fall apart.

It is imperative that someone be throwing you red meat all day, as you dont seem to motivated to get out there and make the kill yourself. But thats okay PowerStroker, different strokes for different folks.

While I dont consider myself the BEST, I am as good as some, better than most.

Wow.. quite the diatribe... too bad you forgot the part about "thinking".

You had trouble with the HEUI injection system. You had trouble mis-stating your access to manuals... you had trouble understanding how your 4WD system works (a decent manual would clear that up).

Soon, you will have 6.4s that have lived beyond their warranty period... will you be properly prepared to work on these? Or will you use your customers as guinea pigs.

Sooner than you can imagine, you will have 6.7s to work on.... whatever will you do when you see that the F350 and the F450 are so very different?

But... what the fuck do I know?

Let's get real PowerStroker... When it came to the PowerStroke, the only problems I had was getting paid.

Anymore I dont have time to waste trying to fix a poor design. Just as these instructors brag up the 6.7 liter scorpion engine, they did the same with the release of the 6.0 International/Navistar engine.

It is not me who uses the customer as a guiena pig, it is FORD and their DEALERSHIP TECHS that use their customers as guiena pigs.

Proof can be linked to the 6.0 the 6.4 and now the 6.7 liter PowerStroke Diesel engines all being released within a short span of time. Hell, the 6.0 can be classified as three diffrent engines as they made SIGNIFICANT changes to the original 2003 release in 2004 and then again in 2005.

Go blow it out your ass PowerStroker. How long was the 7.3 liter offered Pogo? I rest my case.

I have been nothing but swamped with Fords the past week... they seem to come and go in herds it's just crazy... some weeks it will be GM, others Honda's but look out when the Ford heard comes thru because them cars are going to kick your ass and turn you every which way but loose. Early V6 Escape alternators, Fusion/MKZ/Milan front press in wheel bearings and control arms, just some real ball busting stuff... I just love when Fords buries an alternator at the bottom of the engine like they do on the Escapes, and I just love how their axles like to weld to the hubs after driving on bad wheel bearings for too long and I especially love pulling intake manifolds just to change a coil pack! LOL

It pays well, but your body is going to hurt after and it will be lingering longer as Fords are like blondes, they can't get enough attention! You start fixing one thing and the car gets jealous and wants three things around it fixed too! lol
