U.S. to make Internet wiretaps easier!

Hey PowerStroker, what do you think about your boy Obama now?

Broad new regulations being drafted by the Obama administration would make it easier for law enforcement and national security officials to eavesdrop on Internet and e-mail communications like social networking websites and BlackBerrys, The New York Times reported Monday,

Apparently the extension of the Patriot Act that they slipped into the unreleated Medicare Physician Act was not enough! evileye

So what is your take on this PowerStroker? I am sure you were up in Arms after 911 when Bush drafted the original patriot act, but how about this? Is it okay because Bush did it? I have also read that provisions have been put in place so Obama can completly shut down the Internet in the case of national security, much like how China does today. What do you think about that?

I know... I know... I have to quit holding your opinions so high and call them how I see them.

I call this - "More bullshit".

I agree with you Rex, I'm not willing to sacrifice privacy for a little temporary security. I think Obama is wrong on this issue. I'm delighted that you feel the same way, though I doubt you felt so much outrage when Bush did it.

I never said I liked it when Bush passed it, however we had just been attacked (911) and it was supposed to be a temporary act that was to expire once the bad guys were rounded up. Now it has been extended by the Obama Administration in a rather UNDERHANDED AND NON-TRANSPARENT manor, and now it appears that he is going one step further.

If you read the article/link from MSNBC you would have realized how drastic this measure is, and the requirements that will be placed on a lot of people hosting web sites, both big and small. Even the guy hosting his own little personal web page would be effected from what I read.

Gives new meaning to the term Inter-NET. Spooky if you ask me.
