The courage of Eisenhower, and his timeless wisdom.

He warned us about the Military Industrial Complex, and how it would consume us.

Have you been drinking tonight, PowerStroker?

Ike was a Republican. And a damn sight better than any Democratic president that came after him. Even Kennedy. And yes, even Cliton

I know he was a Republican. He was one of the good kind of Republicans that care more about country than party. He was actually courted by both parties to run for president but chose to run as a Republican.

I highly doubt the modern Republican party would even consider nominating him today.

Way before my time!

Once when I was talking politics with an older person they told me that at one time Republicans were blue, and the Democrats red. They claimed that the colors have switched!

Not having been alive in the early 1900's I can't attest to this, but can anyone else confirm this?

Republicans (not Democrats) were the party who liberated the slaves and who stood up for civil rights. It was the southern Democrats (Dixiecrats) who were the last hangers-on of segregation and against civil rights.

Remember that prominent Democratic Senator Robert Byrd was once a member of the KKK, as much as Dems love to paint the Republicans as being the prejudiced KKK members.

Just go here and you'll see plenty that opens your eyes about Democrats:

I'm fully aware of the racist distant past of the Democratic party. When you're the oldest party in America, you're bound to have some stain's in your past.

Todays Republicans seem to have the market cornered on that demographic though.

If you ask me the Democratic mantra is in of itself a way to enslave the entire nation, white, black, yellow or brown. Then we will all just be a bunch of niggers working for uncle Tom... er I mean Sam.

While the Politicians will live high on the hog, regular business folks and their work force alike will become enslaved in government regulation and mandates.

Do you feel your heath insurance is a good as someone who works for congress? If the answer is no, then I need not say another word. Even under Obama's new heath care law you wont be treated as an equal. WTF is that?

Yeah okay.. But it was all Democrats that voted that in. Not one Republican voted to pass the flawed health care law.

So are you admitting the Democratic party is purchased?

Some of it is. If it weren't for that traitor Joe Lieberman we would have a revenue neutral Medicare buy in option for those under 65 which could compete with private insurance companies and keep them in check.

But no... The Senator from big insurance, also known as the poop stain on the shorts of Connecticut - Joe Lieberman wouldn't cast his 60th vote to break the filibuster unless the public option idea was killed.

I don't know PowerStroker... It's pretty fucked up!

I can get behind what Obama "Wanted" to do with health care for all, but what he and his super majority actually gave us is so far off that mark I can't seem to get behind it.

The thing is, we didn't have a super majority of liberals, we had a super majority of Democrats - some of which were conservative, so we never really had an opportunity to pass any revolutionary liberal single payer universal health care plan. We did the best we could with the conservadems we got.

Craptastic yes, better than what we had, hell yes
