RE: PowerStrokers ULTIMATE Saturn rebuild - LOTS of pics

LOL !

I'd be more worried if my engine wasn't drinking any oil...

Yeah but you're not running around in here claiming to be an ASE and Ford Motor Company certified "mechanic".

I'd expect a layman to re-use a worn-out coated piston. Did you see the photos? Looks like PS spent the money and had the head rebuilt, and he even had the crankshaft and all 4 pistons out of their bores! What gives on the pistons? Does PowerStroker not know that a piston is considered a "wear item"? I am starting to wonder if he even used the old rings and bearings! LOL!

Then again, who really gives a $hit? It's a Saturn. I guess even GM has low expectations for this engine if they say buring a quart of oil between changes is acceptable. Hell some people go 10K+ on an oil change! At that interval PowerStrokers crank case would be near empty!

The simple fact of the matter here is the job was not done properly. A .030 over bore and a fresh set of pistons would have been the "right" thing to do. I think oil consumption, had the rebuild been done right, would not even be detectable between changes. I mean really? Where else can it be going if the head was re-done?

And are them the same "original" timing chain guides I see on that engine? LOL... Tsk..Tsk... Not what I would expect from a professional. Saturn parts arent what I consider to be "cost prohibitive" with regards to replacement parts cost. It would be one thing if he had a V8 or V12... But 4 pistons? C'mon! I'm calling foul, just like I did back when he floated the silly idea of using the old pistons.

But I guess it's PowerStroker's car, so he can do whatever the hell he wants. But that don't change the fact I love to give him a hard time every chance I get! LOL

I consider it "returning" the favor. LOL!

She got new rings, bearings, head job, and hone job. Like I say, most of it isn't blow-by, but loss through the pcv. Saturn even updated the valve cover a couple times with different baffle configurations for this issue. It's a characteristic, not a problem. But if it makes you feel better, feel free to keep blaming it on me. At least I know my hand scraped deck surface will never leak, unlike some "mechanics" I know.

I noticed you never posted a photo of this hand scraped surface..  Poor PowerStroker can't afford 3M Roloc pads LOL! Hell a new Roloc pad prolly cost more than a new PCV valve! I insist you quit eating bat shit PowerStroker because if you think your hand scraped mating surfaces are better than mine, then you're fucking bat shit crazy! Put up or shut up.

And what kind of mechanic  hones cylinders and installs used pistons with excessively worn friction coatings? Sure it 'a the PCV system! LOL, post up this TSB regarding oil consumption for us.

And WTF are you laughing at Stoma? You can't even change oil without fucking something up!
