In Michigan your plate renewal fee's (Vehicle Registration) is due on your Birthday. Each and every year I find myself bitching and moaning about the cost to renew plates on my 1991 Mercedes Benz 560 SEL.
The cost per year to renew plates on a 20+ year old Mercedes 560 is $300! They use the original MSRP to determine the cost for plate renewal here in Michigan. Just because the car cost $80,000 in 1991 does not mean that the vehicle should be taxed at that rate it's entire life on the road!
Sure... Michigan does offer a Historical plate option however it claims the plate is not for "routine" driving! My 560 is daily driven!
So I am just going to get it over with now.... M-F'n G-D'mn F'n POS BS GDMF PITA!
Okay... I guess I will go pay $300 for a 1 inch X 1 inch piece of plastic and celebrate my Birthday crying in my Mercedes as I have been told that it's much nicer to cry in a Mercedes than on a Bicycle.
Guess this could explain why it's rare to see these cars still on the road!

By the way Stoma, here in Michigan you have to have proof of insurance to get plates. It's not like that back woods nation you live in. How much do they charge to plate your E class over there in Croatia?

I actually think you've got it pretty good...Here in Oz, the cost varies only a little from state to state, ( and age, weight or engine capacity of the vehicle doesn't matter ), but as of 2013, on average, expect to pay between $5-600:00 per year...If that isn't bad enough, imagine paying $1:70 per litre of 9ctane fuel. I think that works out to about approx $6:44 per USA gallon..
