Recently had a customer call with a complaint of no power steering. I figured it would be an easy belt replacement... NOPE!
Apparently these Scion's (Re-badged Toyota's) do not have Power Steering pumps, rather they are electronic assist! It was rather funny though, looking all over for a power steering pump or a resivor... LOL!
Anyway, busted out with the SnapOn Solice Ultra and a code C1554 code was stored in the steering module - Steering Relay fault... Come to find out the "Relay" on these are built into the steering module. About $500-$600 bucks for a new one.
Anyway, the steering module on these vehicles is located behind the dashboard where the speedometer would normally be on most cars (but not on a Scion of course). Pays pretty good...
Anyway, about a $1000-$1200 job incase anyone wanted to know, much less if you DIY.
