Do WIFI routers put off a lot of radiation?

I am only asking because I had to upgrade to a new service and it would seem with the much faster speeds and everyone sucking the internet it's putting off a lot of noise. My computer speakers are even picking it up!

Right now my WIFI unit is about 3 feet from me, and I am thinking it needs to go about 20 feet. It's bugging me as 4 people stream movies and I am sitting here getting my brain melted with a superior LAN connection to the damn brain cooker (aka WIFI modem.)

I don't know about this thing... Maybe AT&T is pissed at me for canceling the U-verse TV but Ill be damned if I pay for 4 TV's and only get two in HD! Always some bullshit but I must admit the quality of picture and signal was quite good with the U-Verse, even if only two HD steams. Then again they always make that shit work right for the first 30 days, but this time I beat them to the punch and canceled them. I did keep the U-verse internet and thus elected for the NetFlix. No HD but great selection, not to mention everyone can watch something of their own at one time via wireless, which as I watch these brain cooker lights fliker at a fast pace I am stating to think maybe this sucker needs to go somewhere else.

Anyone got some information on WIFI placement and how close is too close?

Yo SELLC,

I can't say that I know anything about how far away to place the unit, but it makes sense to keep it as far-out-of-the-way as possible without losing the signal...What about in your ceiling & above your main TV ?

Cheers,

Rastus

Oh I can confirm these WIFI Routers put off a good amount of radiation because I have noticed that my speakers picked up interferance when the speakers were close by. Sounds like a rapid morris code and some occasional high freqency squelching.

Sometimes a cheap set of un-shielded speakers come in handy.

Hey SELLC,

You should maybe use those speakers to see how they react when your cell-phone is being used...Might be a little worse than the WIFI...Nasty stuff all this modern technology LOL !

Cheers,

Rastus

Yes, cell phones put out quite a bit of radiation.

In that thread above I talk about cell phone radiation, but now it seems we have WIFI to add more radiation!

It just makes me wonder when a device is putting out so much signal that near by magnetics (such as speakers) are effected in such a profound way.

I just recently learned that Wi-Fi operates at a frequency of 2.4 GHZ or 2400 HZ --- the exact same frequency used in your microwave oven! But at lower strength....

Enjoy the slow cook! LOL

LOL,

There's so much of the stuff flying about the place, it wouldn't matter if you used wi-fi or not, you'd still cook slowly !
