I concur..

By far the most expensive automotive sport is Off Road 4X4 mudding. PERIOD.

Unless your name is McLiar...

Knew you guys would like that one. There are some good vids of tractor-pull motors blowing up on YouBoob.

Heck PowerStroker, I'm sure you could put that blown motor back together ... if you could find where the block blew off to !!!

I was gratified to see McLoser admit recently on Banzworld that he DOES have north of $35K into his car.  Which I bet is actually WORTH about a quarter of that (if not less because of the salvage title).

I was under the impression that he had $35K just in the engine, but it appears as if it's the whole car.  The engine is over half that amount though.

Then he goes and calls me a "pussy" on Banzworld (breaking their rules about insulting others) and Teutone doesn't even enforce the rules !!!  I guess getting called a pussy is better than a McLoser death threat....

Yo people,

You've just gotta love the fact that everyone seems to get banned elsewhere, & then gather here to shoot-the-breeze LOL ! What's even funnier is the administrators from the other sites checking this place out for all the nitty-gritty ! Classic stuff LOL ! Better than tennis that's for sure !

You are right ... One of my moderators spotted PS's post & banned him as a spammer/troll during a time I wasn't online. I saw it afterward but I have strict rules about not posting about politics, religion and hot topics like the Affordable Care Act, homosexual/military integration, and so forth.  So that is the reason my mod did the delete/ban thing.  He sent me a PM saying  did I know I had my own troll/fan club and did I know the individual?

I try really hard to keep the quality of my forum & it's technical information very high and the signal to noise ratio low.  My board is strictly a car board and while I give people plenty of shit, it's always in that context.  registered members have abbess to the reference wiki & active members have full access to many more sub-forums, factory service manuals, and soon the monthly MB factory parts price list database (dealer cost, wholesale and retail prices on all MB parts) and also a full VIN database of all 500Es imported into the US -- option codes, serial numbers of engine/chassis/transmission/steering gearbox.

Now, to answer the question about my aftermarket cams From my top end rebuild 3.5 years ago. The second replacement cam was a FEBI but had TRW markings on it.  Since it was of good quality by an MB OEM I didn't send it back and install a used factory cam I had from another source. At the same time I installed new rockers to replace those destroyed by the first replacement cam.

some post-mortem suggests that perhaps I did not examine the oiler tube holes close enough, though I did do this when I disassembled the top end. When I did the TRW camshaft I put in also a new factory oiler tube and plastic ends.

the rebuilt top end of the motor now has 32,000 miles on it (214,000 miles) and it works excellently  I also changed oil to 20W/50 Brad Penn, which has the high ZDDP levels that the M117 requires.

Yo SELLC,

Everything that you point at is true & correct ! But the moderators over-there do exactly that, moderate LOL. I would reckon that if you "changed your tact / approach" & give it to them discretely so-to-speak, you may get to hang-around longer. Everyone expects a war of some-kind when you begin to post elsewhere, even if it's not your intention to do so. Also, remember that The Truth Hurts ! So I think if you're more polite in your tact, there may be a chance of pro-longed membership LOL. Gerryvz knows all this for sure, (including keeping-up-appearances), & that's why he comes here from time to time, just to let out steam & have a laugh.

Unfortunately SELLC, you're too up-front & honest, which is a good thing, but also not such a good thing to others elsewhere... I hate to quote sayings, but this one seems to suit quite well..." When in Rome, do as the Romans do " LOL.

Anyhow, the best part about this site is its frankness, & that's what probably appeals to most users, as well as no-doubt upsetting just as many LOL !

Cheers,

Rastus

I have nothing to hide and would not be ashamed to admit it if I was the one who did delete PS's post and ban him.

But I was not that person.

The proof of the ban/banner is immortalized in the administrative records of the sites control panel. That said, though I do have the administrative power, I have not bothered to "reinstate" PS, and have no current plans to.

Yo SELLC,

The 500E site is pretty-much clean & straight as an arrow with regards to its content, & that's the way the moderators will keep it. Whether you take gerryvz's word on things is your business, take it or leave it I suppose. I still laugh quite hard when I see that picture of president Obama, it's a true classic !!! I would question however PowerStrokers real intentions, & have absolutely no-doubt that it was to cause shock & anarchy, & to test the patience of the moderators over-there, & we all know what result was achieved LOL !

I'm with gerryvz on this one, as I'm sure that PowerStroker was only trying to push buttons LOL ! However, should PowerStroker ever acquire a 500E, then things would become real interesting...They're actually a damned good & fast car that would possibly even impress PowerStroker if he decided to own one. And then he could legitimately post away to maybe a further degree...

Cheers,

Rastus

I had the same kinds of problems as PowerStroker too. In addition to being a registered and licensed mechanic I also happen to own and specialize in Mercedes Benz also. Yet when questioning a member of Gerry's 500E Board about their credentials I was banned for pointing out a person was not recognized by any credible and sanctioned automotive body.

Seem's pretty lame to me, this whole "straight as an arrow" bullshit you suggest Rastus.. How could that be considered "Straight as an arrow" when Gerry gets out on the internet and acts like an asshole everywhere else, but wants everyone to think his forum is something special? Seems FAKE!

If Gerry can't take as good as he gets on his own forum, what the fuck is he doing in here crying about it? By his standards he would have been banned long ago, so what does that suggest?

It shouldn't fucking matter what your photo was of! If you wanted to post a photo of Obama on Mt. Rushmore it's your gawd damn given right to do so! Regardless what anyone might think.

And besides... Gerry said he didn't see your post, and it wasn't him that banned you... So it was one of Gerry's imaginary moderators that spit imaginary coffee on an imaginary screen. It's all digital fiction really.

I am most happy where I can be me... I don't know about the rest of you guys.

This begs the question of "why" you are here chatting with PowerStroker.

You must not think highly of PowerStroker if his post are not welcome on your forum.

If Gerry is working to keep-up-appearances then he aught to know it looks fake, which makes him look bad regardless how he says it.

I said bottom of the food chain, not the lowest of the low...

To me it's just not a Mercedes unless it's a full size S class V8 or larger. Even a V8 shoe horned into a smaller C or E class is not the same. There are many examples of paper bags with engines, but nothing compares to the S class.

Here is an example of your average E class owners lifestyle and mentality,

LOL !!!,

Geez SELLC, talk about letting off some steam LOL ! Even PowerStroker has decided to wear his "medals-of-honour" , in memory of duty/times gone past, can't you wear yours in the same way ? I'm sure you'd be at least a 3-star general by now LOL !!! Gerryvz's 500E site "has" to keep a good image, because from the outset it's been designed in such a way as to keep the threads "clean" & proper...I'll bet that many more peoples points of view etc are edited & cleaned out, not just yours & PowerStrokers LOL ! I wonder how many times RSJ has tried in vain to put something up there ?

It's true that the S-class is something special, but you did mention somewhere that every-seat in a MB is a first-class seat, so I hope you don't forget about the SL's, the SLC's, the SEC's etc etc, because it's because of these babies that the S-class managed to get so much performance etc, even if the cars themselves go about their business differently...We didn't get the 500E here in Oz, but I'll tell what, they're not so far removed from the early-model Commodores that we made here from 1978 onwards, & fitted them out with our 4.2 & 5.0ltr V-8's, & man, they go like crazy, so they're not too bad a car to have, especially since I've had mine now for over 17 years, & it really flies, no-need to get rid of it. ( Would you believe that the seats are identical to those found in the 124's ? Yep, I couldn't believe it myself, especially since the Commodores got them 12 odd years earlier...).

Anyhow, lets hope RSJ posts something soon so that we can take a little heat away from Gerryvz, especially since he hasn't really been stirring the pot at all, only asking "what's been happening" ? LOL !

Cheers,

Rastus

If Rex wants to get his jollies from messing with me here on this forum, that's fine by me. I just dropped in to say hi after a year or so of being gone. It hasn't been my intent to mess with anyone except the idiots over at Benzworld who are the ones who really deserve it.

There's a saying that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" so perhaps since Rex doesn't like me & says he holds a grudge against me, and the likes of McLiar & cascade hate me & hold a grudge against me, that Rex should join forces with them in a big Gerry hating festival. They can all make up & become friends again & Rex can give them tips on how to keep their jalopies running in peak condition. Lol!

LOL !!!,

I agree with you Gerryvz about the discussions, they're fruitless, & lets face it, the market is designed to cater for all, & the opportunity for manufacturers to deliver is ever changing. So therefore, whoever buys whatever is generally always going to be pretty satisfied I think, regardless of what we have to say about something LOL !

It would seem that SELLC has determined that the way you go about your business, contradicts his way of going about things, & I would suggest that there's probably going to be a slinging match between you two for a long time to come, unless you two can possibly come to an understanding with one-another, officially, or unofficially, though I doubt either of you two feels obliged to do so, since you're both right in your own ways !!! Somehow I think that there's more to this thing than just the omitting of PowerStrokers hilarious picture of the new & redesigned Mt. Rushmore, but it's got nothing ( thankfully ) to do with me.

However, possibly an apology for the misunderstanding could help keep the peace, & keep things moving forward...After-all, even though you've nothing to hide, & you have explained yourself about the circumstances of your board, you "have" kept away for around the 12-month mark, & I'm not really sure why, except that only a person who knows he's done wrong to some-one would keep away for so long until the dusts settled...

Anyhow, that's my 2-cents, & I hope this bollox sorts itself out LOL !!!

Cheers,

Rastus

Gerry, your problems with your web forum are just that.... your problems. They don't effect me because I do not visit anymore.

I think you will notice that outside of our forums I am generally on your side. But here at home you will be treated accordingly weather you like it or not.

I'd say it was good to seeing you after almost a year but our paths have crossed seveal times in passing prior to your recent arrival. I think all your fancy words and such are wasted once people figure out you're not interested in holding yourself to the same standards as you hold everyone else.

Anyway, take care of yourself and don't be a stranger.

1987 560SL (US-spec) = 227 HP; 2.47 rear end

1994 E500 (US-spec) = 315 HP (mine has 1992 computer installed, +7 HP, so mine has 322 HP); 2.82 rear end

Both cars are ~3,700 pounds in weight.

A stock 500E can do a quarter-mile in 14.1 seconds, even with Rex driving.

A stock 560SL would be pained to do a quarter-mile in 16 seconds, I think.

:nos:

I sold the 560SL (which had 52,000 miles on it) to a friend in Dallas in February, 2013 for almost 50% more than I paid for it 7 years ago.

I'd have to agree Rastus, Gerry's SL was a VERY rare bird in that color combo. It was a very sharp car indeed and no doubt the best of the three he had. I also agree that the SL roadster was the most expensive of his collection.

I am sure he had his reasons. The fact he made a little $$ on the deal makes him feel better now but 10 years from now he may not feel the same. It happens to the best of us, letting a vehicle go only to find out you miss it later.

I should also mention that while Gerry's 1/4 mile times are not even worth the bandwith to quote, these cars ARE NOT drag race vehicles. He of all people should know this. These Mercedes are refined cruisers, not quarter horses.

My thoughts on a "race" Mercedes have been well documented in the W126 section. I have said it before and I will say it again... You have race cars and you have street cars... Regardless who makes the vehicle one has to know what that means. If you build a race car it's no longer a refined cruiser. There is no in-between when it comes to racing, esp. 1/4 mile DRAG racing. What in the hell was he thinking?

Hey SELLC & everyone,

Also worth mentioning is the fact that these/most types of MB's were also designed for long-term high-speed autobahn cruising on any of the many autobahns found across Europe. Typically 100 - 130mph + speeds were considered normal / daily duties that the cars were expected to perform for the life of the vehicle. And they've been doing this successfully for years !

This was one of the reasons for using aluminium cylinder-heads from the very beginning, since cast-iron cylinder-heads offer better over-all efficiency by holding-in the heat, aluminium releases the heat more quickly when sustained high-speeds are desired, therefore making them much-more dependable for this application by keeping over-all coolant temperatures where they should be when under sustained high-loads.

Cheers,

Rastus

Well, hopefully PowerStroker's rubbed off on me a lil' bit here ....

then let's just throw a few gallons of gasoline on that fire and see how high it burns, eh?!? biggrinbiggrinevileyeevileye

What do you guys think of my new Avatar?

It's Jimmy McMillan, he ran for New York Governor in his own party last time around.  The "Rent is too damn high" party.

Yo PowerStroker,

Yeah, I think that the rent is too damn high everywhere LOL ! - But I think your old avatar suited you better....But that's your call ! Has he helped you out in reducing dealership hourly rates ? Remember that a reduction in rates = a reduction in pay...

Hey gerryvz, those vids you posted I'm sure are already in a couple of other threads ! What about showing one of your 560SEC or SL blasting down the strip !

Cheers,

Rastus
