Ford is building $1.6 Billion dollar plant in Mexico! Creating 2,500 new jobs for Mexicans!

It's not like a majority of Fords F-Series trucks and cars didn't already have their parts made in Mexico anyway... Since NAFTA (Passed during a Democrat administration) Fords has been producing a majority of it's parts in Mexico. I would imagine that Fords feeling is, that putting the entire vehicle together there in Mexico would save them even more money by taking advantage of the lower wages in Mexico too.

It's situations like this that make me have to wonder about people who pay into Unions... Too bad they spend all their money on Democrat elections, and what do they get? More unions busted under Obama than any other President and major losses in jobs and pay! From the GM and Chryslers Bankruptcy to this most recent revelation by Fords, it's clear to see that the it's the Unions who are smart and their constituents are the mouth breathing incompetents who are more than willing to cut off their noses to spite their face.

Hi SELLC,

Unions are formed to try & protect a workers rights, wages, & benefits...This means keeping Americans in jobs.

Your problem here is most-likely IMO greed & the need to satisfy the stock-holders & their shares...

It's a huge shame that an American company will put short-term profit before American jobs...

O'l Henry would be turning in his grave no doubt...Once upon a time, he shared his success & profit with the "A"- model Ford(?), & paid his people nearly 5-times as much in wages when compared to other manufacturers...

Times have changed, greed & the stock-market rule for the moment.

Cheers,

Rastus

Clinton did sign NAFTA in to law, it was a group effort between him and the Republican congress. Unfortunately there are too many Democrats that are free traders, Obama included. But I'll tell you something else, the only Republican who isn't a free trader, is Donald Trump. Seems Donald and Bernie Sanders agree on something after all.

Forbes made a few good points in this article I just read,

Its also likely that, in the event Trump is the GOP candidate for president, the UAW may find a whole lot more of its members falling out of political lockstep with a leadership that fawns at the altar of the Democrats, and voting for Trump after concluding that he might do far more to protect their jobs in the future than Hillary Clinton would or their own UAW leadership.

And that brings us to the second risk for the UAW. If oil markets right themselves in coming years, forcing gasoline prices back up, and pressuring sales of the industrys biggest vehicles again at the same time that the overall U.S. market reaches an expected plateau many union members may wish they were building high-mileage small cars instead of nothing at all.

But I don't see in ANY WAY how Bernie Sanders has gone out of his way to shame Fords for this decision. Trump on the other hand, well he's quite clear how he feels about it!
