Datehookup.com aka DH and Match.com a Chinese syndicate?

Recently I been hanging out on the Politics forum of a place called DH (Datehookup) which is owned by an LLC in Dallas Texas.

I had been a member there for about 5 years, up until last night when my account stopped working - where I could not respond or post to the forums.

I immediately closed my account and requested my information be deleted, with a follow-up email this morning and a certified letter to be sent out tomorrow morning.

Apparently there was this fringe liberal group that claimed to be female in sexual orientation, trying to suggest that I had made claims that were never made.

Obviously what I was dealing with was a smear campaign by a faceless member with whom I was trying to identify.

By posting an image that I was able to retrieve with a public Google search using the members name and the forums domain,

I then pointed the systems logic to display this publicly hosted image from google in a fair use effort to identify this nameless accuser.

Slander is not something I have ever excused, and to be quite honest it seemed to be happening with a lot of members there - some more deserving than others.

I am also under the impression that this Match.com may be a foreign syndicate operating out of Texas, as I was constantly contacted by Asian women and

directed to Asian knock off's of sites that wanted to charge money for things like conversations, icons and other typical online community fanfare that is normally free.

I will be posting up screen shots of this Asian website and the emails and such that followed them off the Match.com website.

One of the main reasons that I closed my account is because at the time all of this was happening, over 100 local profiles were made out of thin air in my area,

all of them without photos... Slowly I watched as these accounts were supplied with professional photos and links to take people off the site.

Anyone from DH or Match.com that finds their way here is welcome to respond, here is the public information for this site, just incase anyone else was thinking about taking action themselves.

So anyway, given the fact I was there for 5 years I have some stories to tell! This would be my first "Dating" forum that I have ever reviewed, as most of the times I would only visit automotive forums but the place had a halfway decent "Current Events and Politics" forum that had a pretty equal mix of liberals and conservatives that allowed you to beat any given dead horse beyond recognition.

When I joined the forum in late 2013, I had just gotten my iPhone 5s and wanted to try out new apps since if you all remember, I was going to try and get by with just my expensive iPhone - no desktop. Who would have known that 5 years later I'd still be getting let down by both! LOL, but incase anyone was wondering, my closing my account had much to do with my telling Customer Service to "Fuck off" when they tried to suggest I was posting a members photo. Actually, all I did was place a link to a photo that was drawn up using Google's photo search. I guess if you are one of the losers that pay their $9.99 monthly fee, you might have more clout than someone like me who reviewed this forum under the "Free Membership". LOL, of course we did at one time re-review a forum under it's premium membership plan once, only to be banned shortly after the ink dried on the credit card receipt. That company did end up giving me a refund, but you had to wonder what kind of business does that. Just an FYI.

But let's break that down, I was there 5 years, times 12 months equals 60 months... 60 months times $9.99 equals $599.40, that I didn't have to pay. woot-woot! Stick that in your pipe and smoke on it Match.com! LOL

That being said, there are countless complaints by the members there about the lack of an "edit" button... and it would seem that threads there have an expiration date! Unlike this forum where you can drudge up an old thread from the deep end of the pool in 2006, that system seems to make inaccessible threads older than a month or so! Kind of really sucked so I am not going to miss any of that nonsense. You were also unable to embed YouTube videos or even communicate with people outside the forum except for their monitored in-house email! That's right! They literally monitored your emails to ensure you're not sharing phone numbers or "hooking-up" with actual people from your area! In my 5 years there, I never met anyone in real life, obviously because I wasn't looking but I did make efforts to identify and verify that these people were real, yet in every instance it come to pass the person on the other end was not the person they claimed to be in their profile! After a few years it got me to thinking, are any of these people in there real? The popular saying around there was, "You were just there for the forums" LOL! Truer words could never be spoken when it came to my membership!

Yet what really got me was this one site in China,

https://www.gagahi.com

It got me to wondering if these website were harvesting images, and exactly what purpose a faceless company had with all the data... Well in the case of the link above it's one of many Asian web sites that appear to charge the user for each conversation or emoji that is sent. And elaborate system is set up with photos of women, men, whatever it is you want really. The stories that go along with it are somewhat funny, and as always I did not spend a dime - but I had to follow the rabbit all the way down the hole.

Anyway, my 5 year membership has come to an end. It was quite amusing really, but when you hang out with people for 5 years and not even one of them drops in to say hello after knowing that you closed your account, well that just let's me know that I did waste 5 years on people who were probably not even real, arguing about politics that many of them probably didn't even understand except to stir opinion.

I'll give this thread a few weeks in the public forum before I move it to the private members only AFR forum where it will live on in infamy with all my other conquest! LOL

Well, it's been almost 48 hours and not a single person from the politics forum has bothered to stop in and say hello.

Basically, I wasted a lot of time there. Moving this thread to the AFR as I'm over it.

At least the people from the Mercedes forums come over to say hello, or at minimum come here to say fuck you.

I guess I don't know what to say. I actually met Princess Putz on Match.com and that seems to be a win-win. But it does seem that some of their practices are dishonest based on what you are saying. Five years eh, that's quite a good run for you.

Damn! You met her on Match.com eh? That's a pretty good testimonial, as I do love a happy ending!

There was this one crazy lady on the politics forums named CinnamonHaze, everyone said she claimed to have an attic full of bat $hit in her historical house - thus people said she was "bat $hit crazy"! LOL, she was a raging liberal too and even posted as living in MN!

That's not PrincessPutz is it? LOL?

Gee, no response from PowerStroker... I hope that wasn't his chick, lol!

As always I was sure to savor my very last post and apparently this is kind of how it went down,

That's where I noticed I couldn't post or respond anymore... apparently telling customer service to "fu$k off" and then flagging their post as offensive and then trying to block them was too much for them.

So I closed my account,

I was thinking about joining eHarmony to see what their forums were like, but I didn't even get past the application!

{Just kidding about eHarmony lol}

Oh look,

https://www.datehookup.com/thread-1484230.htm

they started a thread asking where I went! LOL, how sweet of them! LOL

Maybe someone could drop them a link to this thread, so they know the real truth. Looking at some of the ideas of what happened to me on that thread really gives me a feel for the kind of tall tales that circulate daily in politics.

Anyway, I have been feeling much better and wasting a whole lot less time since I decided to leave. Apparently I was just on a one week "time out", but everyone here knows that not how I roll. At least people noticed I was missing, so I don't have to feel like they were all just ignorant to what was going on around them. I'll miss some of the debates and some of the people there, but it's time to move on...

Wonder what kind of forum I'll find next?

That's pretty funny Rastus, lol! But I'm not doing the Clinton thing - lol!

As I was telling you in the other thread, my adventures are leading me to a lot of different forums, applications and such "discussion" boards.

Rather poetic justice that the entire DH form is getting shut down shortly after my departure. Like instant Karma! LOL

Thanks Hasle! I am so glad that you joined! And thanks for loaning me your pants to get back on DH after they banned me!

I'll be interested to see how many people make their way here. I am thinking of setting up a section specifically for ex DH Members, in fact I'm going to do it right now!

You can be the very first to start a thread!

Hope everyone else shows up!

Great great idea to break it into little groups if possible

like

DH Chitter Chatter - off topic stuff

CURRENT Events - Falcon needs a place to post his doom and gloom, he would love that.

probably start a thread on DH so everyone will see where they can go Now that DH is finally closing.

This is perfect for all of us!

That hairy guy went viral back in the early 2000's! I remember using it in many forums.

I just made the DH forum (lol)... Whoever wants to be the first to post in it, it's there!

I'll be switching back and fourth between admin accounts to register the expats, but I really am very happy some people at least come to visit after 5 years on the Current Events and Politics forum! Thank you!

Welcome Clarity!

It's an old school forum, but not too bad once you get the hang of it..

Standard forum commands to add photos and command bold, italics - ect.

Lot's of different emoticons too, click where it says "More emoticons".

You can insert You-Tube videos by copying the link and then clicking on the little YouTube icon above, from there you insert it into the box and your YouTube video is embedded without anyone having to leave the thread.

You can go where it says "Profile" and add any photos or information that you like, or none at all.

Most of the times people are coming here looking at post to fix their cars, but I have always like having a variety of different forums.

Over the years this place has changed a lot from when it was started back in 2006. This is the first time I have ever had a "Dating and Hook-Up" area..

The regulars here have questioned if I have been hanging out with Bill Clinton.

Yes, I am from a long line of Rex's... the third iteration or "A" model... There is also a "B" model, my son.. We have a "" model and and "E" model on the classic side. So when you say Rex around in my family the next question is likely to be "what" by four different people.

Stellar007 and SELLC have been abbreviated handles for the business, Stellar Enterprises LLC.

Im wondering if the DH demise was caused by the same law that saw Craigslist discontinue their entire Peronals area and Backpages complete eradication?

Some posters feel the current event forum was foul mouthed people that overworked customer service.

I limited myself to that forum only, but after looking at the other forums in there, specifically ones for meeting and dating, those posters were much worse than current events With the potty mouth posts, nudity, etc..

it would be interesting to find out the real reason why it is closing, especially after seeing how many people say they would become a paying member to help finance it.

you know long time posters like LongBobby, who lived on that forum 24/7 and had a million posts went through horrible withdrawal to be yanked with no notice!

I too am very curious what they plan on doing with all the data and user list from DH, Haslefree..

It would seem there is a lot of data there, so I am curious if come the 9th of May they will somehow re-open it under a different name or something.. I was reading on the forums that the original owner (Dustin?), had sold the place. If that was the case, why in the world would someone buy a forum and not at least maintain the forum? Usually big companies that buy up all the good web forums will keep them all because the hardest part of setting up any online forum is getting a lot of post for people to read. DH had a LOT of members and a LOT of post! The reason I like this place is that all my post go back till 2006! That is 12 years of my thoughts and the thoughts of others! I can't even count on one hand the amount of times the media or some fringe liberal group tried to re-write history and I had to reference back to a 5 to 8 year old thread to reference information that had all but been white-washed from google!

Dustin sold out on August 31,2013... to Barry Dillers company IAC, they did maintain it until recently.

I think it just cost them too much and too much work moderating. Yup, never maintained since Dustin, let it go downhill.

I had a RC forum, pretty slow. 9 years I also had a switchblade forum. Try moderating those goobers!

Interesting Stan! That's some good information, I'll have to research this IAC company and see what we come up with.

Shawnee, what is a switchblade forum? Not familiar with that name, but perhaps I know it as another.

It was called TSF, the switchblade forum. Was for collectors, sellers, makers and we had many custom makers. Check out my site. www.hermitriver.com  Hasn't been updated, email no good. Cool pics of customs I did for people. Click images to enlarge. Sometimes from scratch sometimes just rescaled and fileworked. I used alot of shell, mother of pearl, abalone.redlc.jpgredp.jpgredt.jpg

Did you make / customize these yourself? If so that's pretty good! Switchblades used to be illegal here in Michigan but I think recently they did away with the ban. I'd have to double check, but I recall reading that.

Rex, what is mostly illegal about autoknives is the 58 law. Prohibits transportation across state lines. Here in KY if one has a CCW you can carry a switchblade, and I do. About all states allow a one armed man to have one. If they are in your home? No one cares.

Yes I customized and made them. Check out my site, click on to enlarge. www.hermitriver.commopmf.jpg
