SAN DIEGO (CBSLA) A Los Angeles police officer has been arrested on federal charges alleging he tried to smuggle two illegal immigrants into the United States this week in southeastern San Diego County.

Mambasse Koulabalo Patara has been charged with violating immigration laws, according to a federal complaint filed Wednesday.

He was arrested early Tuesday morning at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint in Pine Valley, located about 12 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border.

According to the complaint, at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, Patara drove up to the checkpoint with two male passengers in a 2006 Toyota Corolla.

While being interviewed by Border Patrol agents, Koulabalo showed them his LAPD badge and stated he was off-duty, the complaint states. Agents later patted him down and found his service-issued gun in his waistband, the complaint reads.

Koulabalo reportedly told border agents his two passengers were U.S. citizens. The men, identified as Herman Lopez and his nephew German Ramirez Gonzalez, eventually admitted they were in the country illegally.

One of the men said they had known Koulabalo for years and had worked for him at his Fontana home. He added they had decided to go to a casino in Alpine in southern San Diego County, before heading to another one in Campo and ending up at the border checkpoint near Pine Valley.

All three men were transported to the Campo Border Patrol Station and arrested at around 1:30 a.m.

Back at his home in Fontana, neighbors were in disbelief.

I heard what happened, and Im really shocked, said one woman. Theyve always just been a really nice family ever since my husband and I have lived here. [] Theres always multiple sides to every story, so I think thats important for everyone to keep in mind [] before jumping to conclusions on these types of things.

I just dont believe that hes doing that, another neighbor told CBS2. I dont believe at all that hes capable of doing something like that.

An LAPD spokesperson confirmed to CBS2 that Patara has been placed on paid administrative leave.

If convicted, Koulabalo faces up to five years in prison.

I am not sure what to think of that, from what I could understand it sounds like a police officer tried to smuggle illegal aliens into the country...

But it didn't work!

FYI - It doesn't matter if I approve of your post, this forum isn't about what I approve of.. We have had the mob thru here, we have had the Nazi klan come and go, you name it...

Around here it's been that if someone doesn't approve of your post, they just don't bother responding to it... Although I must warn that it can get heated at times since most all the VDO Lounge forums are 18 and over.

It's nowhere near as fast paced as DH, even in it's dying days... but it is a place where friends on the internet have been able to stay connected regardless if another forum is trying to ban them from existence.

Declassified Congressional Report: James Clapper Lied About Dossier Leaks To CNN
A newly declassified report on Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. elections reveals that former intelligence chief James Clapper lied to Congress about information he shared with CNN on the infamous Steele dossier.
April 27, 2018 By Sean Davis

Buried within a newly declassified congressional report on Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. elections is a shocking revelation: former Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper not only leaked information about the infamous Steele dossier and high-level government briefings about it to CNN, he also may have lied to Congress about the matter.

In one of the findings within the 253-page report, the House intelligence committee wrote that Clapper leaked details of a dossier briefing given to then-President-elect Donald Trump to CNNs Jake Tapper, lied to Congress about the leak, and was rewarded with a CNN contract a few months later.

Clapper flatly denied discussing[ing] the dossier [compiled by Steele] or any other intelligence related to Russia hacking of the 2016 election with journalists,' the committee found.

When asked directly whether he had ever discussed the dossier with any journalists, Clapper replied that he had not, according to a transcript of the proceedings:

MR. ROONEY: Did you discuss the dossier or any other intelligence related to Russia hacking of the 2016 election with journalists?

MR. CLAPPER: No.

The former DNI later changed his story after he was confronted specifically about his communications with Jake Tapper of CNN.

Clapper subsequently acknowledged discussing the dossier with CNN journalist Jake Tapper, and admitted that he might have spoken with other journalists about the same topic, the report continued. Clappers discussion with Tapper took place in early January 2017, around the time IC leaders briefed President Obama and President-elect Trump, on the Christopher Steele information, a two-page summary of which was enclosed in the highly-classified version of the ICA, or intelligence community assessment.

The briefing of Trump by U.S. intelligence chiefs was held on January 6. CNN published its story on the briefing, based on anonymous leaks from two national security officials, on January 10. BuzzFeed published the full dossier, which was jointly funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee, minutes after the CNN story was published.

The revelation that Clapper was responsible for leaking details of both the dossier and briefings to two presidents on the matter is significant, because former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director James Comey wrote in one of four memos that he leaked that the briefing of Trump on salacious and unverified allegations from the dossier was necessary because CNN had them and were looking for a news hook.

The congressional report on Russian interference noted that it was this very briefing of Trump that multiple media organizations used as an excuse to publish the unverified dossier.

The Committee assesses that leaks to CNN about the dossier were especially significant, since CNNs report that a two-page synopsis of the report was given to President Obama and Trump was the proximate cause of BuzzFeed News decision to publish the dossier for the first time just a few hours later, the report stated. Until that point, the dossier had been circulating among elected official, intelligence agents, and journalists, but remained unpublished. As the accompanying article explained, [n]ow BuzzFeed News is publishing the full document so that Americans can make up their own minds about allegations about the president-elect that have circulated at the highest levels of government.

As The Federalists Mollie Hemingway noted after Comeys memos were finally made available to the public, the fired FBI directors account of the briefing of Trump suggested that the entire briefing was a setup from the beginning, and that it was scheduled and held just so it could be leaked to journalists who wanted an excuse to publish a dossier nobody had verified.

In their coordinated response to the full intelligence committees findings, committee Democrats defended Clapper, claiming that he broke no laws while acknowledging that he did leak information about the dossier to CNNs Jake Tapper.

Evaluated in context, Clapper denied leaking classified information, while acknowledging that, as DNI, he engaged in legitimate discussion of unclassified, non-intelligence information with Tapper, they concluded.

Clapper, who previously lied to Congress about whether the U.S. government was electronically spying on millions of Americans, was subsequently hired by CNN just months after his leak. Although he eventually apologized to Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) for lying to Congress about government mass surveillance of American citizens, he subsequently told MSNBC that the question to which he respondedDoes the NSA collect any type of data at all on millions or hundreds of millions of Americans?was a gotcha question similar to, When did you stop beating your wife?
Sean Davis is the co-founder of The Federalist.

Maryam Shariatmadari, Womens Rights Activist and Anti-Hijab Protester, Arrested, Beaten, Jailed

By Geller Report Staff - on April 27, 2018

Feminism

Maryam Shariatmadari, 32, was found brutally beaten and denied medical treatment after she was arrested, detained and jailed for protesting the Muslim mandate for the wearing of the hijab.

She had been demonstrating against the hijab in Iran, standing atop a box and waving the cloth, when a policeman pushed her violently to the ground. She needed immediate medical treatment, but was denied and instead, just tossed into prison.

She was then sentenced to a year in jail for violating sharia law.

And now reports are whispering that she was brutally beaten, along with her mother though Radio Farda is failing to report the story.

Heres more on Shariatmadaris courageous fight, from the Daily Mail:

An Iranian woman who was badly injured after being pushed off a box in Tehran as she was waving her hijab during a protest has been jailed for a year.

Maryam Shariatmadari, 32, was demonstrating against laws which force women to wear a veil in the Islamic republic when a policeman violently shoved her to the ground on February 23.

Despite journalists and supporters reporting that the woman needed urgent medical attention after suffering a severe leg injury that required stitches, she was kept in prison before being sentenced.

According to activist group My Stealthy Freedom, Shariatmadari was sentenced to a year in jail for breaking the strict nations laws.

But human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh, who represented the woman, said the verdict even goes against the laws.

According to the Center for Human Rights in Iran, Shariatmadari was forced to undergo knee surgery for her injury.

The organisation cited Jila Baniyaghoo, a journalist in the country, who claimed Shariatmadari was at one point taken out of surgery by police when she was about to go under the knife.

Tehran Police spokesman Saeed Montazer al-Mahdi said on February 25 that police though they have a responsibility to tackle visible crimes had no right to violate the law.

In the shocking video, Shariatmadari, standing above Tehran pedestrians on a utility box, is seen defiantly waving a headscarf on the end of a stick.

But the protest turns nasty when a police officer climbs onto the podium and pushes her to the pavement, earning jeers from spectators.

The veil has been a mandatory dress requirement for women in Iran since the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

It comes days after footage showed another protester, Shaparak Shajarizadeh, standing on a traffic island in the Iranian capital Tehran and waving her headscarf around on the end of a stick.

In the latest clip, the woman is seen raising the headscarf above her head by a set of traffic lights in Tehran.

Two policemen confront the protester and ask her to come down to the pavement.

She asked what offence she had committed, and was told she was disturbing public order, according to The New Arab.

One activist said: No man has the right to treat a woman like this.

Around 30 women have been arrested in Tehran for refusing to wear a headscarf, it has been reported.

A movement called White Wednesdays encourages women to flout regulations by capturing footage and pictures of themselves without their hijabs and posting it online.

The Islamic code also forbids women touching, dancing or singing with men outside their families.

Women are only allowed to show their face, hands and feet in public and are supposed to wear only modest colours.

Over the years, however, women have pushed back the boundaries of the law, with many wearing loose, brightly coloured headscarves far back on their heads.

In November, footage emerged of women standing up to police and strangers after walking the streets without hijabs.

At one point a female campaigner shouts spit out your insults after being told to cover her head while a second film shows a man threatening to slap a young woman for breaking the law.

Another video showed a father standing up for her daughter after a passer-by ordered her to observe hijab. The father stands his ground and tells the man I dont believe that nonsense.

EDITORS NOTE: Please be aware the following column contains frank language about violent sexual crimes.

Colorado law provides that: in the prosecution of sexual offenses, including in proving the corpus delicti of such offenses, there is a greater need and propriety for consideration by the fact finder of evidence of other relevant acts of the accused, including any actions, crimes, wrongs, or transactions, whether isolated acts or ongoing actions and whether occurring prior to or after the charged offense. The general assembly finds that such evidence of other sexual acts is typically relevant and highly probative. § 16-10-301, C.R.S.

Rape is an abomination. Rapists crave power and control.  It turns them on.  They are aroused by victims rendered helpless to resist.  Having done it before, rapists crave more.

Back in the 80s and 90s, I prosecuted several of Colorados worst serial rapists. They were sentenced to lives in prison except for serial rapist/murderer Frank Rodriguez. He was sentenced to death.

During my last two decades, Ive represented many rape victims including children victimized by family members.  Some of my clients have been victims of teachers and coaches. Other cases have been against creeps who use rape drugs. Rapists want their victims to be weak and impaired. They do not want good witnesses against them.

Denvers Capitol Hill Rapist Quintin Wortham wanted no witnesses. This cat burglar snuck into homes and ambushed women from behind. He then covered their heads, made them feel his knife, raped them, and forced his victims to shower afterwards.

Wortham, now deceased, was convicted of six such atrocities in Denver District Court and sentenced to a then record 376 years. We had a seventh case in which Wortham left semen on the bedspread of his victim, and that first Colorado DNA trial was moved to Aspen on a change of venue. Wortham was convicted again and given an additional 24 years.

In the Pitkin County courthouse, I asked Wortham, who represented himself, why he was using all his peremptory juror challenges to excuse men instead of women.  He said that men put a value on pussy, women dont.  Such skewed realities and rationalizations by rapists are part and parcel of their horrendous habitual desires.

Back in the late 70s and well into the 80s, just east of I-25 and Hampden in Denver, there was a hip, Vegas lounge like, Turn of the Century nightclub.  Bill Cosby regularly performed there.  Two of his victims were young women from Denver, and actions in furtherance of the crimes allegedly happened in Colorado.  Cosby is scheduled to return to Colorado to perform on January 16-17, 2015.

Even in libertarian societies, some acts are just too reprehensible to be forgotten or forgiven.  Rape wrecks real people for a real long time.  Rape drug perpetrators may rationalize their victims will not remember. But they do.  The rapes allegedly committed by Bill Cosby were dreadful and destructive. He has destroyed himself.

The Colorado statute of limitations for civil and criminal charges is expanded for sex crimes, but not enough. Some of Cosby victims likely gained appreciation of their own victimization after reading about all the others. Most people have only recently come to fully understand Cosbys squalid method of operation. Why should these drugged rape victims be precluded from legal relief for not timely bringing their case?

Evidence of similar sexual misconduct is admissible in American courts.  And it is powerful.  Juries feel good and certain about convicting rapists with multiple accusers.

Under Colorado courtroom rules, while evidence of other crimes, wrongs, or acts is not admissible to prove the character of a person in order to show that he acted in conformity therewith, it may, however, be admissible for other purposes, such as proof of motive, opportunity, intent, preparation, plan, knowledge, identity, or absence of mistake or accident. CRE 404(2)(b).

Besides the above Colorado Rule of Evidence, Colorado has a special statute aimed precisely at the Bill Cosbys of the world.

§ 16-10-301. Evidence of similar transactionslegislative declaration

(1) The general assembly hereby finds and declares that sexual offenses are a matter of grave statewide concern. These frequently occurring offenses are aggressive and assaultive violations of the well-being, privacy, and security of the victims, are severely contrary to common notions of proper behavior between people, and result in serious and long-lasting harm to individuals and society. These offenses often are not reported or are reported long after the offense for many reasons, including: The frequency with which the victims are vulnerable, such as young children who may be related to the perpetrator; the personal indignity, humiliation, and embarrassment involved in the offenses themselves; and the fear of further personal indignity, humiliation, and embarrassment in connection with investigation and prosecution. These offenses usually occur under circumstances in which there are no witnesses except for the accused and the victim, and, because of this and the frequent delays in reporting, there is often no evidence except for the conflicting testimony. Moreover, there is frequently a reluctance on the part of others to believe that the offenses occurred because of the inequality between the victim and the perpetrator, such as between the child victim and the adult accused, or because of the deviant and distasteful nature of the charges. In addition, it is recognized that some sex offenders cannot or will not respond to treatment or otherwise resist the impulses which motivate such conduct and that sex offenders are extremely habituated. As a result, such offenders often commit numerous offenses involving sexual deviance over many years, with the same or different victims, and often, but not necessarily, through similar methods or by common design. The general assembly reaffirms and reemphasizes that, in the prosecution of sexual offenses, including in proving the corpus delicti of such offenses, there is a greater need and propriety for consideration by the fact finder of evidence of other relevant acts of the accused, including any actions, crimes, wrongs, or transactions, whether isolated acts or ongoing actions and whether occurring prior to or after the charged offense. The general assembly finds that such evidence of other sexual acts is typically relevant and highly probative, and it is expected that normally the probative value of such evidence will outweigh any danger of unfair prejudice, even when incidents are remote from one another in time.

It will be interesting to see if Bill Cosby ever returns to Colorado.

Charles Krauthammer's interesting take on Mr. Trump:

Trump Is Not A Liberal or Conservative, He's a "Pragmatist." (Definition: A
pragmatist is someone who is practical and focused on reaching a goal. A
pragmatist usually has a straightforward, matter-of-fact approach and
doesn't let emotion distract him or her.)

I would say this is a very good take by Charles Krauthammer on President Trump and most of the world leaders are starting to see our President as a world leader.. Instead of a smiling Showboat Dumbo Ear President we have had not to mention a Muslim Sympathizer and Supporter..

Members of the House Intelligence Committee released their official Russia report Friday; finding no evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with Russian officials or agents during the 2016 race for the White House.

Their findings end a yearlong investigation into President Trump and his senior associates during the election and beyond; concluding that the committee found no evidence that President Trumps pre-campaign business dealings formed the basis for collusion during the campaign.

There is no evidence that Trump associates were involved in the theft or publication of Clinton campaign-related emails, although Trump associates had numerous ill-advised contacts with WikiLeaks, adds the report.
The committee also concluded that both the Trump and Clinton campaign exercised poor judgment in certain circumstances, but those actions were not intentional or nefarious.

Aurora Theater Shooting survivor takes first steps after amputation
Joshua Nowlan voluntarily amputated his leg
Jaclyn Allen
10:43 PM, Apr 27, 2018

aurora theater shooting survivor

DENVER -- An Aurora Theater Shooting survivor, who made the difficult decision to amputate his leg after years of excruciating pain, is now taking his first steps toward recovery.

Joshua Nowlan was shot in the arm and the leg in the Aurora Shooting, and recovery has been hell.

"Last night, I couldn't sleep whatsoever," said Nowlan, walking into Creative Technology Prosthetic's Denver office. "I was so excited that today finally has come that I can put my prosthetic on for the first time."

After doctors amputated his leg in January, he had major complications, including kidney failure, a serious fall and a hematoma that required another emergency surgery.

"I am still completely 100 percent on the side that I am happy, that I did the amputation surgery," said Nowlan, rubbing the stump that is still swollen and healing.

He takes his first steps on his prosthetic and begins to cry.

"I'm sorry. I'm getting a little teary-eyed here," he said. "It feels so weird, but it feels so right, too, at the same time."

Zach Harvey made the prosthetic and said that eventually, Josh will walk without any assistance and with a different prosthetic.

"Right now, we want something a little softer, but as he starts to tolerate pressure, walk faster, and wants to do more activities, then we'll provide him with something a little springier," said Harvey.

Nowlan said it's another piece in the puzzle he is trying to put back together.

"Even though it happened five years ago, he took something from me that will never be put back together," said Nowlan. "And here I am trying to makeshift those puzzle pieces and put them back in."

Mystery: Two Broward County Sheriffs deputies have died since the Parkland, Florida shootings and no one knows why

(Natural News) A rising number of questions surround the rather mysterious deaths of now two Broward County sheriffs deputies in the weeks following the Valentines Day mass murder at the Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School in Parkland, Fla.

As noted by the Fellowship of the Minds blog, the first deputy, Jason Fitzsimmons, was found dead around April 1 after calling in sick to work. At 42, the blog noted, Fitzsimmons was in [an] excellent state of mind and health, and yet he was found dead on his sofa.

On April 16, Sunshine State News columnist Nancy Smith, who wrote that conspiracy theories have always turned me off, nevertheless raised questions about Fitzsimons untimely death.

She writes:

Deputy Fitzsimons, 42, described as in an excellent state of mind and health,  called in sick sometime April 1 and then died his obituary read unexpectedly. Apparently he was found on his sofa.

Thats pretty much the extent of the death report.

Smith wrote that she contacted the Sheriffs Office and was assured someone would get back to her, but no one did. An email posted to the Fellowship of the Mind blog by writer James F. Tracy from the departments public affairs division, most likely, inquiring about Fitzsimons employment there contained this truncated response: Good morning. Deputy Jason Fitzsimons worked for BSO until his passing earlier this month.

A scan of Fitzsimons Facebook page left no doubt how he felt about what had occurred at the high school and in particular all of the Left-wing anti-gun activism that took place after the shooting and before many of the victims were even in the ground.

Smith noted that Fitzsimons was all over social media after the shootings questioning the motive behind them. It was obvious he believed the tragedy was being used to promote the Democratic Partys gun-control agenda in a bid to promote the partys candidates in the upcoming midterm elections. He even posted a picture of anti-gun student and media darling David Hogg in a meme featuring him dressed in a Nazi SS uniform raising his right arm with the caption, We will march until we disarm every American.

There has also been a virtual media blackout concerning Fitzsimons untimely and unexpected death.

Smith wrote that she wanted to do a story featuring Fitzsimons and ask why he was so publicly speaking out against high school student survivors who were grieving. She adds that she didnt even know he had died until she came across the Memory Hole Blog.

James Tracy, the sites creator, wondered same as I do now how come the complete news blackout of this curious and untimely death? she wrote. Tracy said that the official cause of Fitzsimons death was cancer, but how can someone who dies of cancer summarily die unexpectedly a phrase reserved for when a loved one dies from a sudden illness, an accident, or suicide.

Now, another young-ish Broward County deputy has died unexpectedly. The Sheriffs Office tweeted out on April 25: It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Deputy Marshall Peterson, a 28-year veteran of the Broward Sheriffs Office, Department of Detention. Deputy Peterson, 53, died at his residence. Thank you for your service, Deputy.

Its a sign of a twisted and broken society when parents are allowed to kill their children before they are born, but they are forbidden from trying to save them after birth. #AlfieEvans
