Mingle2.com

I have been reviewing the Mingle2.com site for the past 7 days as a free account as part of a plan to review many of the popular Dating sites.

This whole idea of reviewing Dating sites was cooked up in the V8 Cafe shortly after closing my account on Dh (DateHookup). Having spent five years on DateHookup I was familiar with what I consider the "traditional" Dating sites that offered the ability to view locals, fill out a profile, chat on web forums and communicate via private message. Having spent 5 years on Dh (primarily the forums) I was exposed to a lot of alleged locals, many of whom had very sketchy english skills, and some of whom were "on the job" so to speak. After awhile I became obsessed with meeting someone - not to "hook up" or have a relationship, but just to see if any of these people were real. In my 5 years of not paying on Dh, I never once met or spoke to a single person IRL.

Upon learning that Dh was closing, like many people, I decided to try some other sites. One of the first was Mingle2.com, which I have been on for 7 days and which I also connected with many people who are here from Dh after having closed my account.

Yesterday was my one week anniversary on Mingle2.com, and in using the service free for 7 days I noticed a few things about this site that may be of interest

-  The forums are monitored to the point that its hard to justify posting in them. I had over a half dozen post deleted my first few hours of membership.

-  There are an extremely high amount of fake user profiles

-  In my area, there aren't a lot of members

-  Possible connections are hidden until you pay unless you both "like" each other, then you can message. But most of the times these people will be from out of state, fake, or both.

By my seventh day I had watched my possible connections grow to 60 people, at which time it went up and down and hovered around 40 by the time I decided to go ahead and give them some money to kick off my review.

With regards to the fee's for Mingle2.com, it would seem the least expensive plan is $29.85 which covers three months. There are less expensive options but in all cases you must pay for the 3, 6 or 12 month subscription up front.

Warming up the business card for it's first company review, I held my nose and paid the $29.85 for three months. Upon paying I went to my hidden "possible likes" which were all now visible.

Out of forty people, only four were even in my state! What a scam! Of them 4, all of them were fake profiles save for one that only had one photo and no description or introduction. I'd like to assume it was fake like the other three

however with only one photo and no description I couldn't say for sure.

Feeling a little tricked I reached out to PayPal and they gave me the email address for customer service. Upon sending them an email expressing my concern it immediately bounced back!

Wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt, and check out the 14 new matches I had gotten in a short time, I went back to Mingle2.com to see. All 14 people were from out of state!

Genuinely feeling scammed at this point I escalated my complaint on PayPal to a claim which could take a little time to sort out, however I was prepared to take the $29.85 hit just to review the place but I didn't figure I'd come away

feeling like I was scammed.

My opinion of Mingle2.com is this, it's an okay "free" dating site but it lacks the members and membership to merit paying any money for. The forums are over-moderated and a lot of the members are fake accounts with very loose english.

There is also Mingle.com which from the looks of it is a "dating site" platform for people to host their own dating sites, much like how some companies host web forums. This service is still in it's infancy and apparently is very

basic so I didn't even bother with that because of the bad experience I was having with the Mingle2.com site. It is doubtful many would stick around long due to the over-moderated forums, but it is pretty stable

and could be entertaining if you were enjoying it as a free subscription.

My next review is of Tinder, which is not like the "traditional" dating site. Rather than having forums and different area's it's about as basic as it comes.

I will go in depth about Tinder in my next thread, but as of today I have paid them money and we will see what happens.

And just out of curiosity, what is with all these beautiful young ladies getting all these tattoos and face piercings now days?

I can't believe how many of this younger generation is tatted up from head to toe, or with at least partial or full sleeve tattoos!

Not only that, 1 out of 3 of them has one of them bull nose rings, or $hit in their nose or eyebrow...

Then some of them even put them gauges in their ears to make their ear lobes have holes in them the size of a quarter!

Can someone please tell me what the hell is going on!?

*** UPDATE ***

Mingle2.com just issued us a full refund for the $29.85!

So it would seem Mingle2.com, while I am less than impressed with the results; is a fair and reasonable company.

Perhaps in my area there is just not a big following of memberships, but the main thing here is the customer service seems to be good.

Hopefully they will make improvements where needed and it can be of service to someone.

thanks for your editorial on mingle2.  i tried it for just a few days and shortly after  my very first posting i started to be censored by 2 women (regular posters may have been monitors)

and within 3or 4 days i was blocked from posting.  my posts were nothing more than on dh or here. it was very obvious that mingle2 did not appreciate any conservative thought. so i left

and have not been back!

Free is free, I'd never pay. Not up for dating anyway. Rarely even check it not much going on in forums.

I was once on M2 for several years, ending about 9 or 10 years ago,  Back then, it was still moderated, but much more lightly.  Today, it's so heavily moderated that you can't even say "poop" without somebody coming down on you like a ton of shit.  There is no tolerance of any Conservative thought or ideas.  The boards move very slowly, the scammer level has increased tenfold.  There is no way I would ever return to that site anymore.

Shame, too, because it was once a really fun place to be.  I've met many people from there, probably north of 100, at several different weekend 'meets' that we would arrange.  Yes, I have the photos to prove it.  Hella good fun!  Too bad nobody does that anymore, at least I haven't been party to anything like that over the past 10 years.

Yep, heavily moderated and that several mods came out of retirement to handle the DH migration.

its dog slow, leftist leaning and chock full of nuts and a never ending stream of dumbasses and turd world scam rats. I get away with stuff because I make the mods laugh. Not worth the effort to keep my language PG13, sometimes you have to call out dumbfuckery for what it is, without editing or considering feelings.

You cant attack openly, but let a scammer invade my inbox and they get both barrels, without reservations.

I have no problem calling out dumbfuckery.  Probably why I'm not so well liked.

Ask me if I care.  Go on, ask me.

It is entirely possible that no amount of money would result in someone wanting to meet me... lol

I should also note that it does not appear that Mingle2.com is in any way part of the Match.com family from what I can tell, unless anyone here knows otherwise.

Yep, with really bad English syntax, phone numbers with too many digits, and push-up bra pics stolen from a boobie fetish site. oh, and thousands of miles away too.

I report, copy the message to CS, then...

they get told to fuck off in a creative way.

I think I will post this to the next one:

Thank you for contacting the CIA. Your IP address and GPS coordinates have been logged and a Predator drone has been dispatched to your location. Wait for the flash, and have a nice day.

I am starting to see more and more locals, but really I wonder how old these profiles are... You could be looking at someones profile from 10 years ago, hell they could be married by the time someone see them! LOL

Massive amount of people from out of state, and you just have to ask yourself - what kind of people have all this time to set up fake profiles?

There must be good business in fishing for lonely people, either that or the majority of the country had lost the ability to interact with people IRL.

M2 flourished For a day or two with the influx of dsiplafed DHers, but now is back to molasses in January.

it is hard to post there, especially in Politics and Current Events, as the lefties are even dumber than the DH contingents. Add in the foreigners chastising US users without a dog in this fight, and it is frustrating to not be able to tell them to STFU or just fuck off until they fix their own fucked up countries.

I have noticed an incredible increase in local members, yet none of them "confirmed" real.

I agree with Stan, the forums leave a lot to be desired.

I was just impressed they agreed to a refund, almost feel guilty now but I am on a mission.

So far it would seem that Mingle2.com is more geared for people to meet, how many fakes you have to filter thru and how long it take before you actually find a real person is still up for debate and

I'll be sure to keep everyone posted.

Here is a prime example of the biased censorship on M2.

https://m.mingle2.com/topic/show/554348

Will someone show show me where a user was attacked?

In this forum, we will not allow users to bash other users for their political beliefs. We know that politics is a topic that many people feel extremely passionate about, both conservatives and liberals. However, if you wish to participate in this forum, discussions must remain civil at ALL times. If you wish to have a reasoned discussion about politics, current events, etc., you may do so, but users who resort to insults or attacks as part of these discussions will be banned without notice. Also, topics which are designed to bait others into a response, start a flame war, etc. and are not meant for serious discussion will be deleted. The poster may also receive a suspension as a result.

Because this rule is not being followed, this thread will be locked.

Closed my Mingle2.com account today since it's been nearly 3 months.

I'd have to say that had it not been for them returning my money and letting me stay for almost 3 months as a member I was able to try the site out for quite a bit.

Still, I guess you would have to be looking for someone to really enjoy this site but even then 80% of the people are fake and end up asking you to meet up at a "hangout" which then includes

a gmail address. Either way it's going to cost you some serious $$$ if you want to talk to the fake accounts out of China, and it almost seems like that is where all these dating sites are hailing from.

Didn't meet anyone, but I did shop the windows and put forth an effort to at least see how many real people I could connect with, but no luck in even verifying ONE real user outside of a few

DH friends that I followed there when DH closed.

Out of fairness I tried POF, but I could not stand that setup for more than 10 minutes and had it not been for the 24 hour wait to close a new account I would have been in and out of that place

in under 15 minutes! LOL! Same thing on POF, pay money and lots of fake accounts.

Best bet is the old fashioned way I think... Although there have been some really good hang outs in days past (Yahoo chat, AOL Chat, MySpace Chat, ect.) all of these were free for the most part

and did not try to monetize on every little interaction. I guess we will all have to wait for the next big thing! Anyone finds it let me know!

I enjoy messing with the obvious fakes. I get to test out seriously twisted retorts.

Diaper (aka Huggies) is spewing more venomous crap than on CE&P. Permanent butthurt.

The dumbfuckery is astounding!
