Is Trump a good role model for children?

Romney: I dont see Trump as role model for my grandchildren

Utah Senate hopeful Mitt Romney said that he does not see President Trump as a good "role model" for his grandchildren.

Romney made the comment during an interview with NBC News on Monday, ahead of a Senate primary debate.

"I don't think that I would point to the president as a role model for my grandkids on the basis of his personal style," Romney said. "He has departed in some cases from the truth and has attacked in a way that I think is not entirely appropriate."

He added that he thinks Trump's policies have exceeded his expectations, but that, "some of the things he has said are not ones that I would aspire for my grandkids to adopt."

Romney failed to earn the Utah GOP nomination outright last month, and will be on the ballot in the state's June 26 primary to replace retiring Sen. Orrin Hatch (R).

Romney was a harsh critic and "Never-Trumper" during the 2016 election, but has since tempered his criticism as he launches his Senate bid.

"I look forward. I'm not going to look backward," Romney said last month about his past criticisms of the president.

Romney said Tuesday that he would continue to call Trump out on "racist or misogynistic" comments, and that he would "call 'em like I see 'em."

"Where the president is right in my view, on policy, for Utah and for the country, I'll be with him," Romney said. "But if the president were to say something that I consider highly divisive or racist or misogynistic, I'll call him out on it. Because I think it's important for people to know exactly where one stands."

Trump endorsed Romney in the Senate race, though in 2016, Romney said that he would not have accepted Trump's endorsement for president in 2012 if Trump had said "the things he says today" about minority groups.

Why would you say that? What has Romney ever done except get people affordable healthcare and provide a template for Obamacare when he was governor of Massachusetts?

Yo,

Once Mr.Trump & his family start investing their $$$ for their companies back into the US-of-A, to create employment for their own people, then they might start setting an example for your kids & grandchildren IMO.

When it's OK to make $00:10 on every dollar spent for American industry to create & sustain jobs, then "America may start to be great again". At the moment, greed dictates that you have to make at least $10:00 for every $00:10 invested.

The most important issue to recognize folks, is the monetary system...Once you have $1,000,000:00 in the bank, earning say 4% interest a year, you generate $40,000:00 a year without lifting a finger.

It's fine to elect people who have found / inherited success in their lives, but don't expect these folks to understand 99% of the US-of-A's peoples problems.

It seems that overseas business deals are more important than Americans well-being IMO.

Ciao,

Rastus

I've yet to see anything any of the Trump's saying something racist.  I've also yet to be provided with any examples.

But accusations and speculations?  I get those in spades.  (Oops, is that a 'racist' thing to say? Tough shit.)

Donald Trump has been obsessed with race for the entire time he has been a public figure. He had a history of making racist comments as a New York real-estate developer in the 1970s and 80s. More recently, his political rise was built on promulgating the lie that the nations first black president was born in Kenya. He then launched his campaign with a speech describing Mexicans as rapists.

The media often falls back on euphemisms when describing Trumps comments about race: racially loaded, racially charged, racially tinged, racially sensitive. And Trump himself has claimed that he is the least racist person. But heres the truth: Donald Trump is a racist. He talks about and treats people differently based on their race. He has done so for years, and he is still doing so.

Here, we have attempted to compile a definitive list of his racist comments or at least the publicly known ones.

The New York Years

Trumps real-estate company tried to avoid renting apartments to African-Americans in the 1970s and gave preferential treatment to whites, according to the federal government.

Trump treated black employees at his casinos differently from whites, according to multiple sources. A former hotel executive said Trump criticized a black accountant: Black guys counting my money! I hate it. I think that the guy is lazy. And its probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks.

Trump_Central_Park_jogger_ad.jpg

In 1989, Trump took out ads in New York newspapers urging the death penalty for five black and Latino teenagers accused of raping a white woman in Central Park; he argued they were guilty as late as October 2016, more than 10 years after DNA evidence had exonerated them.

In 1989, on NBC, Trump said: I think sometimes a black may think they dont have an advantage or this and that. Ive said on one occasion, even about myself, if I were starting off today, I would love to be a well-educated black, because I really believe they do have an actual advantage.

An Obsession With
Dark-Skinned Immigrants

He began his 2016 presidential campaign with a speech disparaging Mexican immigrants as criminals and rapists.

He uses the gang MS-13 to disparage all immigrants. Among many other statements, he has suggested that Obamas protection of the Dreamers otherwise law-abiding immigrants who were brought to the United States illegally as children contributed to the spread of MS-13.

In December 2015, Trump called for a a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States, including refusing to readmit Muslim-American citizens who were outside of the country at the time.

Trump said a federal judge hearing a case about Trump University was biased because of the judges Mexican heritage.

In June 2017, Trump said 15,000 recent immigrants from Haiti all have AIDS and that 40,000 Nigerians, once seeing the United States, would never go back to their huts in Africa.

At the White House on Jan. 11, Trump vulgarly called for less immigration from Haiti and Africa and more from Norway.

Obama As Unqualified,
Lazy and Un-American

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

An 'extremely credible source' has called my office and told me that @BarackObama's birth certificate is a fraud.

He spent years suggesting that the nations first black president was born not in the United States but in Kenya, a lie that Trump still has not acknowledged as such.

Trump called Obama (who was editor in chief of the Harvard Law Review) a terrible student, terrible.

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

Obama has admitted that he spends his mornings watching @ESPN. Then he plays golf, fundraises & grants amnesty to illegals.

Trump frequently claimed that Obama did not work hard as president.

Trump falsely claimed that President Obama issued a statement for Kwanzaa but failed to issue one for Christmas.

Urban America As a Hellscape

He often casts heavily black American cities as dystopian war zones. In a 2016 debate with Hillary Clinton, Trump said, Our inner cities, African Americans, Hispanics are living in hell because its so dangerous. You walk down the street, you get shot. Trump also said to black voters: Youre living in poverty; your schools are no good; you have no jobs.

He frequently offers false crime statistics to exaggerate urban crime, including about Oakland, Philadelphia and Ferguson, Mo.

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

Just out report: "United Kingdom crime rises 13% annually amid spread of Radical Islamic terror." Not good, we must keep America safe!

He is quick to highlight crimes committed by dark-skinned people, sometimes exaggerating or lying about them (such as a claim about growing crime from radical Islamic terror in Britain). He is very slow to decry hate crimes committed by whites against dark-skinned people (such as the killing of an Indian man in Kansas last year).

Minorities As Uppity and Ungrateful

He frequently criticizes prominent African-Americans for being unpatriotic, ungrateful and disrespectful.

He called Puerto Ricans who criticized his administrations response to Hurricane Maria politically motivated ingrates.

Friendliness with Proud
Racists and White Nationalists

He has retweeted white nationalists without apology.

He called some of those who marched alongside white supremacists in Charlottesville, Va., last August very fine people.

After David Duke, the former leader of the Ku Klux Klan, endorsed him, Trump was reluctant to disavow Duke even when asked directly on television.

Trump hired Steve Bannon as his campaign head and later White House chief strategist. Under Bannons leadership, the website Breitbart madewhite nationalism a central theme. It featured a section, for example, on black crime.

Trump endorsed and campaigned for Roy Moore, the Alabama Senate candidate who spoke positively about slavery and who called for an African-American Muslim member of Congress not to be seated because of his religion.

Trump pardoned and fulsomely praises Joe Arpaio, the Arizona sheriff sanctioned for racially profiling Latinos and for keeping immigrants in brutal prison conditions.

Denigrating Native Americans

In the 1990s, Trump took out advertisements alleging that the Mohawk Indian record of criminal activity is well documented. At the time, he was fighting competition for his casino business.

In a 1993 radio interview, he suggested that Native Americans in Connecticut were faking their ancestry. I think I might have more Indian blood than a lot of the so-called Indians that are trying to open up the reservations.

In a November 2017 meeting with Navajo veterans of World War II, Trump mocked Senator Elizabeth Warren as Pocahontas.

Other Assorted Racism

Ben White

@morningmoneyben

Trump today: "Hillary Clinton meets in secret with international banks to plot the destruction of U.S. sovereignty." Fascist code for "Jews"

Trump has trafficked in anti-Semitic caricatures, including the tweeting of a six-pointed star alongside a pile of cash. He has also been reluctant to condemn anti-Semitic attacks on journalists from his supporters, and he echoed neo-Nazi conspiracy theories by saying that Hillary Clinton meets in secret with international banks to plot the destruction of U.S. sovereignty in order to enrich these global financial powers, her special interest friends and her donors.

In a White House meeting with a Korean-American intelligence analyst briefing him on Pakistan, Trump wondered aloud why she was not working on North Korea policy.

Trump once referred to a Hispanic Miss Universe as Miss Housekeeping.

At a June 2016 campaign rally, Trump pointed to one attendee and said: Oh, look at my African-American over here. Look at him.

I had to think about this for awhile and insofar, I'd say Trump is a good roll model for children!

Maybe not children that have race or religion issues... and maybe not for kids who have mommy and daddy issues...

Do I consider Obama to be a good roll model? No, he is fake and has no character whatsoever... I'd imagine a handshake with that man would be like holding a cold dead fish, aka Democrat pussy.

Issues like being brown or non Christian? Issues like not having a mom or dad, or being brought here by their parents at a very young age?

Yeah, I suppose those kinds of kids may not see him as a role model... But who cares about those kind of kids anyway?

Those straw man issues are yours and yours alone PowerStroker... Many families out there making it who aren't big into religion... Many families out there making it of all different races too...

Liberals have so overblown the issue of race, while totally ignoring the reverse racism while Obama was in office that it's sort of pathetic. But it looks good on you!

I guess I'm the only no vote. Oh well, such is life I guess.

BTW I don't paint all the right in to the same corner, I am fully aware that there are varying degrees and reasons for someone to fall on that side of the spectrum. Some due to the way they were raised, some due to their unique life experiences, and often some are attached to a narrow set of specific policy issues and will never change their mind. I simply posted a survey as a test to see how many would instinctively circle the wagons around Trump no matter what he says or does.

I have my answer, thank you all for your participation, you have been most helpful!

PowerStroker, you have said many times in here that you don't plan on having kids. In fact, well... Yeah...

And I can't think of a "single" reason why you would be in a position to judge what a good roll model for children is given your thoughts on having any yourself.

I don't think it's instinctively circling the wagons, in fact you know I voted twice, so really it's just that people are not interested in Obama's twisted lifestyle, nor are they interested in the lifestyles that Obama and the Democrats were pushing.

It got pretty bad for your party there towards the end when people couldn't even figure out what bathroom they were supposed to use.

And all that money the Unions took from their people to get Obama in, only to have the biggest union buster in the history of America (Obama) come thru and wipe out two of the big three!

Yeah, I think you have your answer alright... you just don't like it.

 ROTFLMAO !!!

Surely qt."I'd imagine shaking hands with that man would be like holding a cold dead fish, aka Democrat pussy" has to live in the famous quotes thread ? !!! You've managed to attack both Mr.Obama & Mrs.Clinton in the one sentence !!!

Classic !

Trump also said to black voters: Youre living in poverty; your schools are no good; you have no jobs.

Again, I see no proof.  All I see is opinion, speculation, and out-of-context twists, all par-for-the-course traits of liberals.  Furthermore, I don't see anything Trump stated that wasn't actually true.

"To avoid renting to blacks during the 70's"  --  that real estate company was his father's, not Donald's.

"laziness is a trait in blacks" -- what is incorrect about this statement?

"death penalty for five black and Latino teenagers" -- Okay, so they didn't do it, Donald still believed they did regardless.  So what?  Libs are still screaming Russian collusion.  Hypocritical double-standard much?

"I would love to be a well-educated black" -- what's racist about that?

"disparaging Mexicans as criminals and rapists" -- 1.  He never said ALL.  2.  Still a true statement.  Look at how many crimes illegal alien Mexicans have committed in this country, including murder and rape.  If you still think they don't do that, ask any of the thousands of women and girls who were molested and/or raped on their way to enter this country illegally themselves by the coyotes bringing them here.

"He uses the MS-13 gang to disparage all immigrants" --this is an outright liberal lie, nothing more than a twist of a comment taken out of context to fit their own agenda.  The 'animals' comment was CLEARLY directed at the MS-13 gangs in direct response from a question posed by a California sheriff.

"because of the judges Mexican heritage" -- there was merit to that comment.  A liberal Mexican heritage judge, judging a case against a Republican president when The Wall is such a hot topic?  Do the math.

"immigrants from Haiti all have AIDS...Nigerians would never go back to their huts" -- a purely hyperbolic statement, but leave it to the Libs to immediately jump on the opportunity and make a Federal issue out of it.

"less immigration from Haiti" -- another comment taken out of context and twisted to fit the Liberal agenda.

"(Obama) was not born in the United Stated, but in Kenya" --  Personally, I still believe this to be true as well.  The only thing brought forward to 'disprove' this was proven to be a forgery, and nobody has been allowed to pursue the truth.

"(Obama was a) terrible student" -- a matter of opinion.  Maybe he WAS a terrible student.  On the other hand, maybe he learned just enough to figure out how to circumvent the law, as he showed he was very prone to do.

"(Obama) did not work hard as President" -- True.  He DIDN'T work hard as President!

"(Obama) issued a statement for Kwanzaa, but not for Christmas" -- True again.  Obama added the Christmas statement as an afterthought.  If he had his druthers, I'm sure he wouldn't have done it.

"Blacks, HIspanics are living in Hell....you're living in poverty" -- Again, true!  For the largest part, they ARE living in a hellscape!  They're living in areas that have been run by Democrat reign for decades, and they never realized how badly they'd been taken advantage of by such.  Every city run by Democrats for any length of time has fallen to shit.  Every.  Single.  One.

This article is not 'proof', by ANY stretch.  It's an opinion article written by two New York Slimes extreme leftist liberal progressive Trump-haters.  All the news that's fit to wipe your ass with.

I forgot "complete shutdown of Muslims entering the U.S." --I never saw any problem with that, and still don't.  While it's true that not all Muslims are terrorists, all the terrorists have been Muslims.

If you infer I've gained encouragement through common sense and free thinking, then yes.  Indoctrination is a bad thing, especially liberalism.  I don't need anyone, especially government, to tell me how to think or feel, and I'll be damned if I let anybody try to force me.

Don't like it?  Think I'm insensitive/opinionated/"racist"?  Too bad.  That's your own problem.
