Paul Manafort guilty on 8 charges, mistrial declared on remaining 10

Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort was found guilty Tuesday on eight of the 10 counts brought against him by special counsel Robert Mueller.
Manafort was found guilty of five counts of tax fraud charges, one charge of hiding foreign bank accounts, and two counts of bank fraud. In total, the guilty counts could carry a sentence of 80 years behind bars for Manafort, who is 69 years of age.
On the fourth day of deliberations following a two week trial in Alexandria, Va., the jury notified judge T.S. Ellis shortly before 4:30 p.m. ET that it had reached a verdict on 8 of the 18 counts. Ellis then polled the jury on the likelihood of reaching a verdict on the remaining 10 counts against Manafort, and ruled a mistrial on the remaining counts.
Prosecutors now have until Aug. 29 to decide whether they will seek a retrial for the charges on which the jury deadlocked. Manafort will remain in custody and faces another trial on Sept. 17 in a Washington courtroom, where he will be tried on charges of failing to register as a foreign agent, money laundering and obstruction of justice.
Earlier in the day, the Alexandria jury sent Ellis a note that asked: If we cannot come to a consensus on a single count, how should we fill out the jury verdict sheet for that count, and what does that mean for the final verdict?
The guilty verdict comes as another blow to President Trump, whose former personal lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty earlier in the day to multiple charges, including campaign finance fraud stemming from hush money payments to two of the Trumps alleged mistresses.
In a Manhattan federal court, Cohen admitted to violating campaign finance law at Trumps direction, and that he acted for the purpose of influencing the election.
Trump, who was traveling from Washington, D.C., to Charleston, W.V., for a rally, boarded Air Force One about 10 minutes before the verdict was reported by news networks.
Do you want convicted felons to be pardoned? I thought yours was the "tough on crime" party???
You may not like to hear this, but if any of the crimes were State crimes, the president has no pardon power in those matters - only the Governor of said state does. So, for example if someone like Michael Cohen were convicted of, say, tax fraud for example, it is likely he lied on his federal AND state taxes, both of which are crimes, and only one of which can the president grant a pardon.
I suppose the Special Counsel could negotiate with the State prosecutors for a reduced sentence in those matters, if he got something in exchange...

Somehow it doesn't seem right to conclude on one dodgy event, to then create another one to finalize proceedings...

Michael Cohen Says Trump Ordered Him To Illegally Interfere In Election
Sara Boboltz,HuffPost9 hours ago
Michael Cohen, President Donald Trumps former lawyer and personal fixer, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to illegally interfering in the 2016 election at the direction of the president.
Cohen says he worked at the direction of a candidate for federal office, ostensibly Trump, for the purpose of influencing the election. He has pleaded guilty to five counts of tax evasion, two counts related to an illegal campaign contribution and one count of making a false statement.
The revelation is a bombshell. Cohen was the keeper of Trumps secrets, and this admission reveals that the two men colluded to illegally affect the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. And the news came the same day onetime Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was found guilty on eight counts, likely destined to spend the rest of his life behind bars.
These are very serious charges and reflect a pattern of lies and dishonesty over an extended period of time, Deputy U.S. Attorney for Southern District of New York Robert Khuzami said at a press conference.
The announcement came shortly after multipleoutlets reported that Cohen had reached a plea deal with prosecutors of the Southern District of New York. The deal is specifically related to payments Cohen made to women on behalf of Trump, according to The New York Times.
The attorney is at the center of a yearslong legal entanglement between the president and adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who says she had an affair with Trump back in 2006. Daniels attorney Michael Avenatti claimed last month that Trumps team paid off three additional women ahead of the election. Khuzami said the charges against Cohen were related to payments made to two women, without revealing their names. He said Cohen felt the two women had information that would be detrimental to the candidate and his campaign.
Cohen then sought reimbursement for the hush money from an unspecified Trump company in 2017, Khuzami said.

Yeah big news. 18 months, $15 million later convict him of something went down 8 years ago. AND had NOTHING to do with "election fraud" which Mueller was SUPPOSED to be investigating.
Keep grasping at those straws, you're ship is already sunk.
Manafort, Cohen, Flynn will be pardoned get your crying towel ready.
Following a lengthy jury deliberation, former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort was convicted on eight counts, including tax fraud, failure to disclose foreign bank accounts, and bank fraud even though jurors were still hung on another ten counts:
If we cannot come to a consensus for a single count, how can we fill in the verdict sheet? the jurors asked in the note.
It is your duty to agree upon a verdict if you can do so, said Ellis, who encouraged each juror to make their own decisions on each count. If some were in the minority on a decision, however, they could think about the other jurors conclusions.
Notably, the case has nothing to do with Trump, the Trump campaign or the 2016 US election it has to do with work Manafort did with former Ukranian President Victor Yanukovych from 2005-2014. The case was referred to the federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York (SDNY) by Special Investigator Robert Mueller who also referred Democrat superlobbyist Tony Podesta for prosecution as part of similar work he did for Yanukovych.
All of this begs the question if Tony Podesta committed the same crimes as Paul Manafort, why hasnt the SDNY brought charges against him?
Last year, Tucker Carlson exposed just how close Tony Podesta and the Podesta Group were to the Ukranian and Russian governments
If Podesta is in to some shady shit too, I say charge him. I wan't to disinfect the entire country, not just the Right... Though I'm happy to start with the right given the choice :)
