Rest in Peace Senator McCain, you have done your country proud and will be missed.

I thought it appropriate to honor a man who truly embodied patriotism and public service. A man who has given more for his country than most ever will. A soldier, A senator, a statesman, and a true patriot. A man who always put country above politics and was respected by all who knew him.

Rest in peace Senator. The world was a better and more civil place with you in it.

Wow, just wow.

Shawnee, you have posted a lie. McCain did not meet with ISIS leaders, he met with the Free Syrian Army who oppose ISIS and the Assad regeme, and who Obama vowed to strengthen.

I have asked you repeatedly to check your news sources for accuracy, and this is why.

Try as He May, John McCain Cant Shake Falsehoods About Ties to ISIS

Senator John McCain was one of the earliest advocates of American military action against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. So it has been vexing for Mr. McCain to be battling persistent and false Internet rumors that he not only helped invent the group but also knows its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the self-proclaimed caliph of the Muslim world and Americas latest Public Enemy No. 1.

The rumors are based partly on images of a Syrian fighter who resembles Mr. Baghdadi, seen in photographs with Mr. McCain some originally posted on Twitter by the senator during his visit in May 2013 to northern Syria. He met members of the Free Syrian Army, an insurgent group that opposes ISIS and that President Obama, in a speech Wednesday on his new strategy for battling ISIS, has vowed to strengthen.

Nurtured by conspiracy blogposts, social media and photo-altering tricks, the false rumors of Mr. McCains relationship with ISIS have taken on a life of their own. One doctored photo shows the senator, an Arizona Republican, pinning a medal on Mr. Baghdadis chest.

Last month the rumors received new vitality when a left-leaning American veterans group asserted that the senator had posed for photographs with ISIS militants. The rumors were further bolstered with the news that an American recruit to ISIS shared the senators surname. And on Wednesday in Iran, where many people already believe ISIS is an American plot to destabilize their country, the state television asserted that Senator McCain was an ISIS cohort. As proof, it showed one of the photographs.

Brian Rogers, Mr. McCains communications director, was not amused. The man who was misidentified as Mr. Baghdadi in the photographs, Mr. Rogers said Thursday, was a commander of the Northern Storm Brigade, a group linked to the Free Syrian Army. Mr. Rogers declined to identify him by name, saying he feared for the mans safety.

Mouaz Moustafa, the executive director of the Syrian Emergency Task Force, a Washington-based group that helped to arrange the senators visit, said all of the people who appeared in those photographs were at risk. When ISIS published the first issue of its magazine, Mr. Moustafa said, it featured one of the photographs and proclaimed, We have to cut all these peoples heads off.

On Aug. 19, the same day that ISIS released an Internet video depicting the beheading of James Foley, an American journalist, the group VoteVets.orgasserted that Mr. McCains demands for strong action against ISIS was hypocritical. In a fund-raising email, the VoteVets chairman, Jon Soltz, an Iraq war veteran, wrote that while Mr. McCain had visited Syria, he paused for some photos including some with ISIS militants. The senators office reacted angrily, calling the assertion an obviously false smear.

Mr. Soltz could not be reached on Thursday for comment, but a representative of the group responded by referring to Mr. Soltzs emailed statement at the time to The Arizona Republic: When we say he took photos with ISIS fighters, we mean that he took photos with representatives of forces that he supported, many of which later became ISIS. Its frightening to think what ISIS would be today, if John McCain had his way, and if we had sent even more weaponry their way.

Mr. McCains efforts to blunt the impact of the photographs took another unforeseen twist a few weeks later, when American intelligence officials confirmed that a 33-year-old Minnesota man named Douglas McAuthur McCain, an ISIS recruit, had been killed by a rival Syrian insurgent group. To the rumor-driven Arab media, the coincidence of the surname was a smoking gun.

The stuff was already irrationality in motion, said Mr. Moustafa. Then a guy actually named McCain joins ISIS. It added fuel to the fire.

Then I might suggest exclusively getting your news from reputable sources with a long history of high journalistic standards.

Things that DONT meet that test and are known sources of disinformation:

Redstate News
Breitbart
A lot of Fox with a few exceptions (Shep Smith has usually dealt in truth)
American Freedom Fighters
Conservative AM radio
Sinclair Media
Urban Combat magazine
etc.

Pretty much anything that makes you feel good about your outlook on political issues every single time you check with them should be a red flag and highly suspect. True news isn't there to reinforce our preconceived ideas, it's there to inform us without bias about current events.

Doesn't it make you angry to find out you have been repeatedly lied to? I mean the whole McCain palling around with ISIS leadership is laughable on its face, but they tell you this stuff without any shame, and only to serve the purpose of keeping you sufficiently angry that you will continue to support their agenda. I'd be pissed if I were you, at THEM for lying to me.

I have been told that if you have nothing nice to say about someone, you shouldn't say anything at all. I tend to observe this advice in funerals or in the wake of death but there is always that one guy who will speak the unpleasant truth about the recently departed. One day I may be that person, but not today.

That said, we're not in elementary school anymore and I have already said my piece in another thread prior to the passing of McCain.

RIP, McCain.. I have lowered my flag to half staff and it will remain that way until internment, as is tradition.

Not too fond of the "reputable sources" 90-95% are All are a liberal slant. I do try them sometimes. Yes it does piss me off to be lied to but it comes from both sides unfortunately.

Rex, yes that is correct and I learned that too. Not always hard to stick to it!

I just never liked the Rino, not since Vietnam which I joined too.

However, differences of opinions and actions aside he did devote his entire life to this country. He did what he believed in and thought was best. RIP Mr McCain

Im trying very hard to keep my mouth shut about this topic. For you youngins You will come to find out when you get some age under your belt its a little harder to do so.

However, I do give Kudos to Mrs. ODummy.  Saw her interviewed recently by Ellen.  Ellen was ripping our President a new one to Michelle but surprisingly she didnt take the bait But instead shut Ellen down and made her look like a Main Stream Media Clone.  Ellen was a little surprised!    Hope she was ashamed of herself.biggrin It was kinda priceless.

As for our President, Donald J. Trump

He could be living the gentile life of a NYC billionaire instead he chose America first. Hes abused, insulted, despised, and shunned; watches his loved ones ridiculed, and suffering indignities.
All of America will someday appreciate and love

It gives me great pride to walk around the Marina here to see most Yachts Flying a Trump Flag very high.

Alright, I can hold it in anymore!

Trump was not at ANY of the funerals yet that seems to be the take away at ALL of them! Democrats once again parading the dead as liberals! It was bad enough when we had people voting Democrat from the grave but now its just gotten SICK!

As I watched Bill Clinton visually undress the Nacho-Bell-Grande girl at the Aretha Franklin concert to the Reverend who called her a meal at Taco Bell and touched her boob... Are liberals blind and conservatives too pussy to say anything!?

In this case, McCains funeral ended up being nothing more than a bash the President event as clearly that is the only news you see making the headlines.

With regards to the recently departed, Mr. John McCain, I can only hope that it was the medication that drove him to turn on his party towards the end.

I have left my flag down this whole week to honor Mr. McCain and his family, but come internment - I am no longer going to sit silent as Democrats take advantage of a dead man or woman's funeral.
