Rooftop Panels of Tiny Plants Can Cleanse Polluted Air at 100 Times the Rate of a Single Tree

Scientists have succeeded in developing the worlds first biosolar leaf technology to cleanse polluted city air with shocking efficiency.

Researchers say that the new BioSolar Leaf system uses photosynthesis to purify the same amount of air as 100 trees all while taking up the same amount of space as a single tree.

The BioSolar Leaf cultivation system facilitates the growth of tiny plants, such as microalgae, diatoms, and phytoplankton, across large platforms that can be installed similarly to solar panels on top of various buildings and landscapes.

The microscopic bits of biomass then use photosynthesis to suck greenhouse gases out of the air and turn it into clean, breathable oxygen.

MOREIKEA Has Developed a Curtain That Reduces Indoor Air Pollution

The technology, which was developed in collaboration between Imperial College London and startup company Arborea, also serves to create a sustainable source of nutritious, edible food additives that can be harvested and used for plant-based nourishment.

Julian Melchiorri, who is the founder and CEO of Arborea, has also been responsible for developing similar air-purifying technologies. In 2017, he was hailed for creating a living chandelier that used algae to suck CO2 out of the air.

His company will now be working with the UK university to pilot their cultivation system on the schools campus.

In our ever-growing modern cities, cooperation between start-ups, academic institutions and governmental bodies is critical to enable and accelerate sustainable innovation that benefits both our society and environment, Melchiorri said in a statement.

LOOKCity is Converting Highway Pillars into Vertical Gardens to Clean the Air

When I founded Arborea, my goal was to tackle climate change while addressing the critical issues related to the food system. This pilot plant will produce sustainable healthy food additives while purifying the air, producing oxygen and removing carbon dioxide from the surrounding environment.

WHAT????

How is this even possible without the government adding more cost to fossil fuel?

Why would this add cost to fossil fuel?

How did mankind start reducing the effects of fossil fuel without a carbon tax?..which according to YOU the free market NEEDS.

This is merely a pilot program that was a joint venture between a British university and a private company - probably with a British government research grant. At present it shows great potential, but needs to be implemented on a grand scale to actually do some real good. The free market won't do this so long as fossil fuels are artificially cheap by having their pollution costs subsidized by taxpayers instead of being added to the cost of said fuel at time of purchase. If said pollution costs were added at the point of sale for fossil fuel, it could fund a massive implementation and expansion of this green technology. I would imagine there are actually a great number of clean technologies for which that would also be true.

There is no mention anywhere of government money (which is why you resorted to PROBABLY)...just a nice piece on the CEO of the private company behind it...

The free market is where innovation comes from...not government interference...

One day you might understand....but doubtful you have listened to bullshit for so long you actually believe it...

You make an awful lot of assumptions about a free market...and you clearly have no idea how to achieve a free market...much less what it is capable of...

You are convinced if we could stop using gasoline all would be right with nature...only you fail to even acknowledge that gasoline is a byproduct of refining crude oil...

and if we did not use it in automobile the pollution we would have trying to dispose of it would be much greater....

but you do not want to hear that because it does not fall in line with your leftist narrative...

Your narrative claims we must charge more...which is all democrats ever want to do...find more ways to take your hard earned money...

and you are free to support that bullshit...just do not be surprised when the rest of us refuse to...

The same could be said whenever you drop one of your supply side theory turds here.

but but we can't get back to a 3% + GDP, what magic wand will get us there....

we got there with supply side...and in the process took unemployment down to 3.6 %

you can call it a turd all you like...it fucking works...

Adding 4.7% of GDP to the debt to get 3% GDP growth would be considered piss poor by most.

Your numbers are wrong...

We did not add that much to the debt, that was the original expectation...before you factored in the higher job participation rates and the increased revenue from those jobs...

The expected deficit was $1.4 trillion... the ACTUAL deficit was only $799 billion...almost HALF the original expectation...and it did create the lowest unemployment rate in my lifetime...

A couple of solid discretionary budget cuts and the US economy would be humming with ZERO stimulus, all on its own...

and we could actually get back to a balanced budget....but those in Congress today are never going to allow that...

I don't know what your situation is, but if you have a wife and kids, do they agree with you on these economic issues? Is your entire family a bunch of Republican supply siders, or are such things not discussed at Thanksgiving dinner?

It is just insane the way they spend!

They spend to keep themselves in control! They create problems to solve because lets be honest, how much work is it to be an overpaid congressman or woman?

That was my youngest, he won't turn 18 until WELL after the election.

My oldest is a staunch Trump supporter and complains about liberal snowflakes on a daily basis... Sometimes I have to look at him and say, "Kid, can you even vote yet, why are you worried about this shit"?

Divorced...

Kids are grown, both college educated, both making over 6 figures...daughter is a nurse...

And both vote republican...

most people who make their own way do not want the government taking from them to give away to others who refuse to try...

Who said anything about a parade? I was going to use them to light up my patio this summer! The last ones I had become sun bleached and I had to toss them.
