President may have failed the Iran test...

Is anyone else confuse ?

The way President Trump has turned this military into another one of his gameshow style interviews has me less than impressed. The way he is trying to "measure" a response to what can only be seen as a hostel act makes me question his ability to lead.

It's just adding up to be too much... He is President and constantly complains about his own Government investigating him - no action taken against any of the actors who have been dogging him at home... then he turns the other cheek on Iran when they blow up ships and a $180 million dollar drone flying in international airspace! It's adding up to where I am having my doubts.

What if Obama had pussed out in the situation room with Bin Laden? Could this Iran be Trumps "red-line" moment, much like it was for Obama in Syria? Sure seems like it.

I just don't know... No one wants war, but that appears to be the way it is going... Now when Iran does something that does take lives it's going to be Republicans fault because we failed to send a strong message in the infancy of this flare up. Iran will only feel emboldened and will now push the envelope even further until they get what they should have gotten yesterday - a stern response. So it either means someone is lying about where the drone was, or that the international airspace map has been re-drawn in Iran's favor.

I am also not at all impressed with the Presidents "measured" response narrative his administration has been pushing. In an all out war will the President hold out to ensure a measured response instead of achieving the objective? This is a serious question that many will have and I have my doubts that the President will be able to make the hard choices that are required of him. Maybe his bone-spurs started flaring up in the situation room? All I know is this whole "measured" response as it pertains to national security does not make me feel safe. I am almost starting to wonder if the Democrats are right to impeach Trump now before something serious happens and he is controlling the military, especially the way he cozies up with the likes of Fat Kim in North Korea.

It really bothers me, as the guy complains on a daily basis about anything said about him - then Iran goes and bitch slaps him and he snivels off in the corner? I guess Trump just wants to wait until something really bad happens, because of course at that point people will be enraged - but he might be shocked to learn a lot of that rage will be directed at him for his ineffective "measured responses".

Any thoughts?

I think President Trump intentionally surrounds himself with extreme war hawks like Bolton and Pompeo for political reasons. These men constantly urge him to engage in a military conflict with Iran. But this is in particular conflict, Putin has an interest.

The pattern I've noticed is that in any situation where Trump has to choose between pleasing the war hawks, or pleasing Putin, somehow Putin always wins.

But we should give the president credit for showing restraint regardless of his motive for so doing. This is the way a superpower really needs to behave. I know there is a lot of blood lust out there, but 150 lives for an unmanned drone is like doling out $500 in punishment for a $5 crime. To do such a thing would weaken our already strained alliances and bring global condemnation on the United States. It scares me that President trump was the adult in the room this time, but I'm sure glad he was. Perhaps the enormity of the office he holds is starting to sink in with him. That none of this is reality tv anymore, and the fate of the world can change based on any decision he makes.

We are still holding plenty of Iranian money which a tribunal has ordered to be returned, I would submit that a proper response would be to deduct the cost of the drone from what they are owed and move on. But if you are hell bent on $6/gal gasoline, 2000 dead American soldiers, a few hundred thousand dead civilians, and another $7 Trillion added to the debt, then by all means, lets do some Iranian regime change as the worlds police, just like Trump campaigned against doing. Just be sure to buy a bunch of Halliburton, Raytheon, and Lockheed stock first like a good Republican.

I watched the news feeds all day yesterday looking for that preverbal "payback" only to be let-down. I am sure in your liberal mind it's okay to allow these things to happen without consequence, but that is just foolish liberal thinking!

I think it will come to pass that the Presidents unwillingness to retaliate will only come back to haunt the entire party. As Iran feels empowered to strike at American forces they will do so with greater frequency and perhaps with loss of American life. What are we spending all this money on our military for? If the President wishes to sit on his hands then why do we even have troops over there? Why were 1,000 more troops sent to the area? It's pure foolishness to think that Iran isn't already thinking up it's next strike on American forces, maybe even America itself! They probably see the Presidents inability to strike, and his concerns about enemy lives as a sign of weakness and a sign that America is soft. Given the amount of liberals like yourself, and the RINO's of this forum I'd almost have to agree!

Perhaps Trump didn't react in an effort to win over tree hugging hippies like yourself, and the old codgers who are nearing retirement hoping the market holds out long enough for them maximize on their 401k's... But as someone who is not so short sighted or materialistically compromised I think this lack of a response will eventually cost us more in the long run as Iran tries to flout sanctions and stay relevant.

As you can clearly see in this forum I am a big Trump fan, but I am not one of them people who won't speak up when I see something of concern - if only because I have been open about supporting Trump and many of his ideas. This one however, I did not support and I want it known because just like North Korea, the odds are very high that further incidents will arise. I support that Trump feels this is the right thing to do, but my own personal life experiences tell me that realistically it was probably not the best move. Then again I only know what they want me to know, strategically I have no intel on the ground in Iran, nor do I have the intelligence communities that the President has - so it could just be a matter of planning and maneuvering for a long protracted battle once Trump bitch slaps Iran.

All I know is I was right pissed off yesterday, waiting for a response that never came.

Perhaps the shooting down of the drone WAS a response to the US backing out of the nuclear deal. In which case any further provocation on our part could be viewed by Iran as justification for further actions.

Believe it or not, America is capable of doing wrong. To assume that we have never done anything that would justify a response is just silly. I'm not all that worried about hardware like a drone that may or may not have been in Iranian airspace. If a US soldier is captured or killed, then I would expect an in kind response. The difference between you and me, is that in my case, just any excuse won't do.

Iran has already made 100% clear the downing of the drone was 100% on purpose, even though President Trump has suggested it could have been a mistake, an article by Time Magazine (Since Nuffan loves his Time articles) -

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-suggests-iran-mistakenly-shot-225958214.html

With regards to US soldiers being captured, well the last time it happened your party loaded up a plane with cash and paid a ransom!

Now I think it is quite clear that Iran, given all the slack that Obama and Kerry have given them, and now with Trump just brushing off the attack on our drone and allied partners oil tankers - that Iran is starting to think it can do anything it wants. If Iran's next attack occurs on US soil and kills Americans - and yet they deny it, that will be on the current Presidents hands because he failed to engage and left the door open to further attacks! That is my main concern as we have a lot of Iranians walking around in this country, whereas there are not many Americans walking around in Iran.

Your "in kind response" amounts to paying ransoms and giving into extortion, and that alone is pretty anti-American thinking if you ask me... So what's the difference between me and you? A few Mercedes, two Corvettes and a Lincoln - lol, I do what I'm supposed to do, so I expect others to as well!

Guess the President is ordering "major" sanctions on Iran starting Monday...

Not the shock and awe response most of us were all waiting for yesterday, but it's something... Them "major" sanctions better include $180 million for another drone! LOL

I still feel Iran will just lash out another way, Trump showing his hand by putting extra emphasis on "loss of life" will just provoke these people.

Personally, I think someone brought down the Boeing 737 Max airplanes, don't know who - but none went down in the USA.

They were so modern they could have been hacked, especially given the fact they were in a foreign market with foreign security, training and air traffic control. Funny how no one seen them go down and not much was ever said about what the pilots were saying before it went down. It's an economic thing that is really helping Airbus with their sales while hurting Boeing and everyone who owns them. Then again, the Concorde proved to be a dangerous plane over time so anything is possible I guess.

The New Revolution II

Pelosi and Schumer Caught on Camera Doing Victory Dance
After They Thought They Goaded Trump into War with Iran!

Now we know why Chuck and Nancy were celebrating last night. They thought the Deep State had goaded Trump into war, exactly as they planned.

Trump outsmarts them again!

These two are a gift that keeps giving to the Republicans. You might ask, "is this an accurate clip of them doing a victory dance?" Knowing these two ingrates, what do you think?

I mentioned this in another thread...Democrats have sold Trump as impatient, someone who was a danger in that crucial moment...

He just proved he can exercise patience and poise....

No one ever suggested that we kill 150 Iranians because they downed a unmanned drone, but we should have taken out something... even if it was just the Shaw's fleet of personal automobiles or maybe sunk $180 million worth of their quick boats...

Was really looking forward of some fresh black and white nigh vision videos showing shit getting blown up! It's getting close to the 4th of July so I guess I can blow some fireworks off myself soon!

Here in Michigan we get all that cheap Chinese stuff, you got to go deep down south if you want the good stuff like M80's and quarter / half sticks - and lets be honest, they are the most fun! LOL, well except for M80 roman candles...

Oh I am sure it will be addressed...

Trumps has quite skillfully played democrats for fools at every turn...

They call us racist for not wanting illegals flooding in the country Trump sends them to sanctuary cities and democrats quickly change their tune.....it has been quite comical...

They said he could not be trusted to not over react and he just proved he can...

He is actually perfect, as he has no long term relation to preserve in government and he is childish enough to fight democrats at their own game....fuckin brillant!!!

Well Nuffan, the book isn't over yet.... there are still quite a few chapters to go! What if Iran steps up it's reign of terror? Which they will, by the way! Especially come Monday when the additional sanctions are imposed.

It's quite clear they really don't give a fuck... They got over $1.7 billion to ride it out, they probably paid for the SAM that shot down our hundred million dollar drone with the money Obama and co. gave them!

Iran is not a threat to the US...

Russia could be but that is unlikely....

The only true threat I think the US has is China...

and it is our guns behind every blade of grass that keeps China from just taking us out....

Iran most certainly is a threat, maybe not at the world devastation level should nuclear war break out between the US and Russia, but bad enough to where they could inflict casualties and damages which by its very definition is a threat.

China has over a billion people, almost 4X our population and their military is expanding and getting more advanced.

I guess we will see come the 28th and 29th of this month (G20) where the relationship is going with China when Trump meets with Xi... I have to assume that the G20 is one of the reasons the President is waiting to make any moves. My guess anyway.

Iran, even in my life-time has proven many times, that the nations politicians can't be trusted.

I guess Russia will be happy to supply them "nukes" if some arrangement isn't made with the US-of-A...

Iran will be happy to side with anyone that will give them Nukes IMO. They're only looking for that extra military leverage that nukes have, & will likely sell-out to anyone who will give it to them.

Mr.Trump "should" maybe negotiate some MOAB's for peace instead !

By that measure Cuba is a threat....

Iran in the grand scheme is not a threat...

Yes China is a threat...but China is not going to try and invade our country...they may engage us in other areas around the globe but not our home field...

China stealing IP is not engaging us on our home field? China taking all our manufacturing out of the United States is not engaging us?

Wow, you think they are just going to load up a boat with 400 million people for an old school invasion!?

Pfft, with your kind of thinking it's very short term... just keep my Social Security checks and benefits coming - screw everyone else after me. That is a real nice credo you got there, reminds me of someone else I once thought I knew!

I was watching coverage of the funeral procession for the slain general. Iranian children wearing New York Yankees hats. The casket being hauled by a Chevrolet no less.

While the government of Iran has been troublesome, the overwhelming majority of the Iranian citizenry very much likes America, or at least what America is supposed to represent. If "passing the 2020 Iran test" means turning the entire Iranian citizenry against us, then perhaps that's a test worth failing?

What is wrong with you PowerStroker? This guy was the General of the armed forces! His job was to KILL PEOPLE, OUR PEOPLE! I hope Iran tries some bullshit because if their citizenry isn't going to man up and retake the country, they shouldn't be pissed at us because we are having to do it for them! I don't care what hats they were wearing, or what kind of cars they were driving! But you should know that Iran banned the import of Chevrolet vehicles not long ago,

https://autotrend.activeboard.com/t62084154/iran-bans-the-import-of-chevrolet-vehicles/

So what else you got?

And God help us if Iran amasses an arsenal of Nuclear Weapons! I'd much rather stomp them out BEFORE that happens..

Trump has already said "IRAN WILL NEVER HAVE NUCLEAR WEAPONS"... Yet Iran is enriching uranium to near weapons grade currently, they probably always have been! Because under that deal your boy Obama got us wrapped up in all inspections were at the pleasure of Iran, and advanced notice had to be given if any inspections were to be granted at all! What kind of BS is that?

I think the writing is on the wall... I think it has been every since Obama put $100+ billion in cash on a plane and sent it to Iran! Your boy Obama did that all by himself WITHOUT congress! You claim it was okay, I and many other Americans feel otherwise!

I am sure to Obama the idea of loading up a plane with $130 Billion in cash was much cheaper than going to war with them, and it also freed a bunch of service men and women who were being held hostage right at the signing of that deal. These are facts and it sets a dangerous precedent don't you agree?

Obviously the deal was absolute $hit for America, inspections were optional and required substantial advance warnings, we had to agree to protect Iran, and the kicker was they were holding a lot of service men and women hostage and did not release them until Obama flew a plane full of cash to Iran. Do you deny these facts?

And you should also know, PowerStroker, that the Iran deal that Obama paid $150 billion for was only good for ten years! Said deal would have expired in October anyway as it's that old. Not that Obama's deal was ever any good anyway, because it wasn't, but the fact is it would have expired anyway and I highly doubt President Trump was going to pack to airplanes full of cash to send Iran.. So here we are!

Are you suggesting we should give a state sponsor of terror another $150 billion dollars in cash PowerStroker?

By the same token, if we win a judgement against them, they should pay.

The case was decided long before Obama ever took office, he simply paid the existing judgement with funds already set aside by Congress for doing so.

If it were a case of anything else, he would have been impeached.

Well it would seem your boy Obama set a treasonous precedent by paying Iran for hostages and a deal that has now, for all intents and purposes, turned into a war.

Trump wasn't going to pay Irans ransom, and never will! Obama shouldn't have either, but he was a fool - just look at him! Looks like Steve Urkle... I can just see Obama now, watching his Iran mess unfold - Oh, did I do that?

Ill tell you one thing I dont care for and thats this media blackout! Such a blackout is not going to fly with the American people and whoever is keeping a lid on the details is only hurting the Trump administration!

Trump made some promises and it would be a shame if he shrugs off this attack like he did with the drone. Trump would do well to make sure Americans know more when these attacks happen. It kind of bothers me we dont know more at this hour. It kind of bothers me to think we all have to wait to hear about casualties until Trumps speech in the morning. This aint a fucking morning radio show and Twitter might not be the best place for him to communicate with America on these serious war issues.

Im just saying...

Okay... I guess I just have to say this...

Over a dozen ballistic missiles with 1000-2000 pound war heads were launched as US bases and not one casualty? WOW! That is impressive on the part of our military, but it doesn't say much for Iran's aim! LOL - Don't get me wrong I am delighted none of our men and women in uniform were hurt! I honestly could not sleep last night until I heard they were okay! Kept checking back the news feeds and Fox news was the worst, kept on asking me to pay for news! That really did not sit right with me! I even had to resort to (gasp) CNN! Who didn't have much information either, but they didn't ask me to pay to watch their interviews. Didn't get any word outside the news that Iran launched missiles at our base until after 3am Eastern Time! That was too long!

Regardless, I feel we should light up the 52 areas that Trump promised because this could have ended much differently and I don't think Iran could have done anything more to retaliate than set off a salvo of missiles!

If Trump does not strike Iran in 52 areas then I'm going to have to assume there is more than meets the eye here...

Absent some serious hat in hands, bending knees by the Iranians we really have no choice. They are still working on a nuke and some have said they could have one in about two months!

What are we waiting for? A nuke to go off before we do something!?

I mean based on their aim so far I think it's clear, they need nukes because their aim sucks!

Iran isn't one of those unsophisticated 3rd world countries that we generally steamroll. While Iran is severely outgunned by the U.S. They are far more advanced than most of the adversaries of our recent history, and they have the ability to put ordinance exactly where they want to. I'm certainly thankful that none of our service people were killed this time. I'm actually wondering if Iran made an effort to avoid human casualties and instead just damage property in their official response, then save any killing aspect for nonofficial agents - like giving a wink and nod to Hezbollah and maintain a level of plausible deniability within the Iranian government when shit does get real?

The reporting on how the killing of their General played out sounds like Trump was given several options for a retaliatory strike, and picked the most extreme one (that normally would have been a throw away option). Since nobody expected him to actually opt for assassinating an Iranian government official, the whole part about gaming out the consequences of such an action was never fully considered, or at least not communicated successfully to Trump. I can imagine in his mind, he thought he would receive nothing but praise like Obama did when Bin Laden was killed, only to instead see a massive backlash not only from the Iranian people whom we have been trying for years to convince to overthrow their government, but a backlash here at home and among our closest allies abroad.

I really wish the people that suggest military options to him would stop and consider exactly who he is, and perhaps leave out the most extreme options in the future, since that's what he tends to pick. It also would be good if instead of surrounding himself with yes men, he would listen to the career officials and heed their advice once in a while. At least if we have any interest in preventing any such foreign policy blunders in the future anyway.

Wow, when are you moving to Iran? You seem to me awfully sympathetic! Did you send your apology letter to the Mullahs like a good little jackass?

Only a small FEW people have had issue with what Trump did, many of them refugees and far left wing cranks. j/s everyone else had nothing but praise!

So Iran attacking our Embassy in Iraq was a foreign policy blunder? I expect that from the party that brought us Benghazi.

I didn't apologize to Iran, I'm merely analyzing the facts to the best of my ability.

Iran is an unsophisticated 3rd world country PowerStroker! Out of over a dozen ballistic missiles they took out what? A chopper?

You must really be an idiot if you don't think our ability to track their launches is what saved lives - and NOT because they were trying to miss.

This isn't over PowerStroker, you're kidding yourself...

So in addition to torching our Embassy the Democrats also feel it's okay for a rogue nation to launch ballistic missiles at our military bases!? WOW!

And the answer to your pathetic pandering to Iran is...

Iran's missiles intended to 'kill personnel' in Iraq, Pentagon says

And that is from the PENTAGON! Or is that no longer an accepted news desk for the far left?

Well if Fox News and the Pentagon say so, it's not like either of them profit from war or anything.

Oh yeah sure PowerStroker! They are real sophisticated and put their ordinance exactly where they want to!

Doesn't their ability to knock a moving plane out of the sky with one shot kind of prove my point that they are way more sophisticated than say Afghanistan for example?
