I mean is charging someone MORE money because the color of their skin even legal!? It's clear to see this is getting WAY OUT OF HAND!

Democrats have been on about reparation payments for descendants of slave owners, and now Elizebeth Warren is talking about a special program for black people to get as much as $25,000 for the downpayment of a home!

This kind of talk is crazy racist! Yet the left feels it's okay! And the only reason its being suggested is to win the black vote! Are black people not smart enough to know that something like this would never pass the government, which has explicit language in the law that makes illegal any discrimination on the basis of race!?

It's not the Democrats being racists..

They're trying to provide opportunity for the less-fortunate folks out there...The likely majority just-happen to be "colored" people.

At least it offers a chance / start in life, though I'm always one to frown upon going into debt...

Typically ( here in Oz anyhow ), these "grants" basically only cover all the hidden-fees & taxes associated with a home mortgage, that's all. ( Land rates, transfer fees, stamp-duty, GST, Title transfer fees, lawyers etc etc etc ).

Yes it is democrats...

 

We took almost 200 years to rid this country of systemic racism, and democrats are campaigning on bringing systemic racism back....just because it is reversed does not mean it is not racism.

 

Seems the new democrats are a lot like LBJ...anything to get their vote...

You smoking some grass today Rastus!? LOL, these Democrats dont give a fuck about anything but getting elected! Most of the Democrats running today will be bankrupt after the primaries anyway!

Perhaps Australia should give grants to all the immigrants they keep on Christmas Island and allow them to live on the mainland? 

Anyone paying $25k in closing cost is getting a pretty fucking big mortgage Rastus - I think that would be in the order of OVER $500,000! Then they will collect PMI on all these people who will not make their payments and stress out the currently fucked up mortgage market. 

You are always one to frown on going into debt? I hate to tell you this Rastus, but currently you're $30,000 quid in the hole pal, thanks to your government!

We have dozens of "detention centres" here in Oz. Christmas Island is only one-of-them, & likely famous since it's totally contaminated with Uranium & other fall-out from the British / American Nuke tests.

The "average" 3-4 bedroom home in-the-burbs of say Melbourne, is around 4-500 K....( Maybe more )...

I'll just let the gov't claim bankruptcy, & everything will be fine !

I am starting to think that is what every government is thinking!

They want to be sure everyone is indebted regardless if you want to be or not! Do you really think and American could pay their $68k per head and say, "I've paid my share now quit spending in my name"? Eh, NO... No you could not!

Way I see it is if they are going to offer $25k subsidies to get people in homes it should not be limited to just people of color! It should be be based 1st on the persons ability to pay for and maintain a home! Giving a bunch of people down payments for a home just because they are black isn't exactly what I consider fair for all. I thought we were moving FORWARD from the days of discrimination, not backwards!

Agreed....Everyone should have the right to access the grant. Plenty of people regardless of origin could do with that "break" of being able to deposit something on a home.

I sort of feel like maybe I should get a $25k check towards the principal on my mortgage if they are going to be giving away money! 

I think a lot of home-owners will feel the same!

Funny you should say that...

The very year I decided to buy my little pad, our " 1st home buyers grant " ( of around 10-K ) was not offered anymore...

Apparently some folks are still eligible for it, but the structure has to be a new-build, not an existing property.

Sounds like we have similar luck with such things Rastus... If it weren't for bad luck, we would have no luck! LOL

Your bad luck was not buying a new built home, which cost you the concession. In my case, me not being black will cost me mine! confuse

Bad luck mate !

Very similar concessions are made over here, especially to our Aborigine's, & new immigrants too....

But the reality is, once the first-generation are adults & start a working life as Aussies, they have the same up-hill battle like the rest-of-us.

It's a perfectly decent & humane thing to help the needy, especially when made a new citizen.
