Well it's kind of hard to tax someone for an insurance plan that is no longer solvent.

Your party really fucked up healthcare PowerStroker! They could have passed ANYTHING THEY wanted at the time! ANYTHING!

And that piece of shit legislation known as Obama-Care is the best you could deliver! HA!

If we could have truly passed ANYTHING we would all have Medicare.

Of course, everyone that bought into Pelosi's "We have to pass the bill to see what's in the bill" was a complete fool!

Everyone knew it was a crooked money grab at that point.

Not one single Republican voted to advance that bill! NOT EVEN ONE!

We didn't get a "super" majority of 60 Senators until Al Franken was finally seated 8 months after the election. Even then, we had Lieberman who was owned by the insurance industry, and Baucus who was a "conservadem" and was chairman of one of committees of jurisdiction. A true Democratic super majority needs to have true Democrats, and a full chamber for the full 2 years. But what we ended up getting was a little more than a year of trying to court Olympia Snowe, and appeasing the blue dogs until they finally gave us something, anything.

But you know what, we did something good to help a lot of people, even though it wasn't nearly as good as it could have been.

What has your guy done to help people?

My guy has been under investigation for the past three years, dealing with congressional gridlock..

That is why we need to give Trump the same super-majority that was given to Obama, then we can see what he does to help people.

Right now he is helping a lot of people by keeping his promises - something a Democrat would know nothing about.

What don't you understand about "not one single Republican voted for Obama-care"?

You had the super-majority, you could have passed ANYTHING!

Now own it PowerStroker!

Actually there was a House Republican who voted for Obamacare, at least the House version of it. The Senate had passed their own different version, and then Ted Kennedy died and his seat went to Scott Brown (R) ending the "super" majority early (it started 8 months late too). So then our only choice was to have the House vote on the more conservative Senate version of the bill, which they held their noses and did. And that's how we got the imperfect, but still better than nothing system we have now!

So, there was technically 1 Republican vote for a more liberal version of Obamacare than we ended up getting, if that makes you feel better.

POWERSTROKER, I know it is VERY hard for you to accept reality, because your party lives in a state of denial...

But NOT ONE SINGLE REPUBLICAN voted for Obamacare - NOT EVEN ONE!

I tried to google the actual house tally to get a photo for you, but Google is back to it's games and only listing bills that a majority of Republicans voted FOR! All this with the search string - "Obamacare house vote"!

Google is another very dangerous company, it should be banned along with Huwai - and no I don't care if it's misspelled and my liberal spell check wants it to stay misspelled.

No really dude, in the House version of Obamacare, there was 1 Republican vote. We ended up with the more conservative Senate version though because Ted Kennedy died. At that point the House had no choice but to vote on the Senate version, and in that final vote it was all Dems. But it does not take away the fact that a Republican voted for a more liberal version of the bill than what we ended up getting.

No PowerStroker, that is the disease you suffer from...

The one where one Republican allegedly voted in favor IS NOT the one that passed. That is the fact here PowerStroker, regardless what you say the facts will always be the facts.

The FACT is that not ONE Republican voted for the Healthcare bill that passed! I was eating my steak dinner at the time the vote went down, I watched it with my own eyes.

NOT ONE REPUBLICAN VOTE!

Say it with me because I am really starting to worry about your mental health now days buddy... Don't fall apart on me!

Oh you're only talking about the one that actually passed. Yeah, in that case no Republican votes. We would have needed the more liberal House version of the bill in order to get that Republican to vote for it again.

So it's safe to say the bill your party passed was a POS, right?

And we paid your idiot people for this! At the time it was a major distraction and the cost are just now hitting the books!

I am glad you're not in denial, I was getting worried about you.

We passed the best thing we could get after we lost the 60th vote when Ted Kennedy died... Not that even it was all that wonderful since Lieberman and Baucus drilled as many holes in it as they could.

So hopefully you can check the record of Ted Kennedy's death, and realize that at the time the House voted, we no longer had a super majority, and in fact, could not pass "ANYTHING" as has been asserted here.

Your party passed a 100% partisan bill!

So yes, you could have passed ANYTHING!

What you did pass only served to cost this nation trillions, put all our medical records on the internet and is failing.

They could have...The whole one single vote prevented Medicare for all was a horse and pony show...

Democrats DELIBERATELY did not pass Medicare for all because there was too much money in creating the ACA (which was written by the insurance lobby)

Medicare for all wasn't even on the radar of the committee chairs. The "public option" which would have been a chance for Medicare to compete on the exchanges with the private insurance companies was torpedoed by Lieberman and Baucus.

Private insurance can not compete with a public option...the idea they could somehow co-exist is another left wing LIE....

If that is true, why do we even bother with private insurance?

because private employer based insurance is what the government FORCED over 60 years ago...and it is really hard to get the shit back into the horse at this point...

It was not until the middle 1990's that individual policies even came to existence...which are over priced do nothing but make insurance corporations billions...

they are catatrosphic policies...that pay for nothing unless you have a six figure bill...yet they charge you through the nose for them....

a decade before the ACA individual healthcare plans became more affordable and were heading in the right direction....

after the ACA was passed individual plans immediately gravitated to high deductible health plans...putting the first $5K on you before it pays at all...another huge profit maker for the insurance industry...

DEMOCRATS sold out america when it passed the ACA....and the Insurance industry made billions...

It was democrats 60 years ago...

We as a country can not afford Medicare for All.

The best we can hope for is a highly regulated private

insurance model that is completely detached from employment.

The billion dollar question is how do we get there.

I agree... now we just have a bigger mess and it's not like we and everyone else didn't tell them so! Short term gain and long term pain... That is the Democrat game!

That doesn't quite jive with what's on the actual Democratic Party platform.

The first debate aligned a lot more with the list here than the link you provided...

And if we get a democrat president and democrats hold the house...

1st orders of business...will be to raise taxes and raise minimum wage to 15 hourly...

Then we will see jobs vanish and unemployment will climb back to 6%-7%

your taxes will go up and the deficit will grow...

Did you watch the CNN Debates last night? Pretty stale if you ask me... They are being held at the Fox Theater here in Detroit, just a few blocks from my hang out...

They are going back at it tonight with all new candidates! Might check in on it to see if it's as pathetic as last nights!

Put off my Detroit travels because I worry that I might run into some liberal candidate at a restaurant and have to bust out my MAGA hat...

I worry about you Rex, I've always thought Detroit was the kind of place where one couldn't wear such a thing without becoming a pin cushion for shanks. Perhaps that's just downtown though, I guess you're probably ok if you stay in the burbs.

You are correct that Detroit is overwhelmingly Democrat, and the people there don't seem to mind that the last Democrat Mayor was jailed for corruption, or that over decades worth of corruption the entire city went bankrupt - they just keep pulling the lever for Democrats time after time regardless! It's just crazy! I don't recall ever wearing my MAGA hat downtown Detroit, but I have worn it in South Beach Miami my first trip... Drove up and down Collins with it on, not a single problem. In fact, I should have taken it with me on my last trip and maybe I wouldn't have been heisted for $1,500!?

All that being said, some people in Detroit are getting killed over bags of potato chips! And that happened this month! (July 2019)!

I was tempted to go down there last night, and even tonight! But my customers have me so booked I don't even have time to cruise my local "main street", let along go big pimp'n in Detroit City... So I will let them liberal scum enjoy the city that Republicans re-built by way of Emergency Manager. It won't be long before the Democrats have it so corrupt people from the burns won't even visit anymore.
