* Mufflers can be replaced independently of the rest of the exhaust-system.

* Your mechanic / exhaust-specialist can show you any further parts that are required.

* Genuine MB mufflers &/or full exhaust systems are pricey.

* A full after-market system would easily be sourced at 1/2-the-price of the MB system.

* 2nd-hand MB exhaust parts could be sourced, but remaining life-span would be unknown.

* Because of limited clearances found when working at home, there's really no choice but to take-it-in somewhere for repair IMO.

* Always take any car out for a drive on the hwy, at hwy speeds, for at least 15-20 minutes as often as possible, at least once-a-week. This heats up the full exhaust system, & burns away any residuals.

* When you burn 1-ltr of fuel, 1.5ltrs of water is produced. This water condenses & sits in your mufflers, & over time causes the corrosion that makes holes in your mufflers. Diesel also has some sulphur in the fuel, which forms into sulphuric-acid, unless its burned away at over 140-degrees-C.
