Do you think it may be possible that this is just a prelude to him pardoning Roger Stone, Michael Cohen, or a certain general "lock her up" who is about to be sentenced? This way he can say that he pardons people all the time (even Democrats).
I just find it odd that with the thousands of non famous people serving time for far lesser crimes than Blago, he chooses to free Blago specifically. Something doesn't smell right here, especially when Blago embodies the swamp that Trump claimed he was going to drain.
I'm not sure how to feel about Blago getting set free to be honest... I am sure Blago and his family are happy, that's for sure!
I know that when the Blago story first broke it was considered to be a black eye for the Democrat party, at least in here.
I am sure Trump had his reasons, but honestly Trump commuting Blago's sentence doesn't rub me one way or the other. If anything it was the only thing he could do to piss off the Democrats, yet still appear to be bi-partisan at the same time. lol

I think since Blago's sentence was just commuted that still means his record refects the convictions and thus he shouldn't be able to run for public office... but that is just my layman's perspective, I could be wrong. Is that how it works when your sentence is commuted rather than a full pardon?

The conviction remains on a persons record, they just get out of jail early. I don't know whether being convicted of anything stops people from running for office though... Actually Darryl Issa has a criminal record and has been a Congressman for a long time so probably not.
You know, Power Stroker...I dont think Trump had an agenda for letting Blagojevich out early. He had been thinking about it for a long time before actually doing anything. those two go back to the days of Trumps reality show The Apprentice. Blagojevich ended up getting fired but Trump defended him.
Dont forget our Prez used to be a Democrat. I think he actually did think his sentence was too long for the crime.

The admiration of Trump just because he pisses off Democrats is pretty shallow. Certainly Obama pissed off Republicans, but that's not the reason Democrats like him. I can't speak for all Dems, but I'm not driven by a macho desire to stick it to people.
