PowerStroker is right here. Our governor has determined that my services are "essential" and so I've still been working while most of Minnesota is under a shelter in place order.

Nothing like spending all day doing essential things like "put the summer tires on my Cmax please" for idiots that don't seem to understand that during a global pandemic, perhaps the best use of my "essential" contribution to society is NOT to do idiotic things like the recalls that people have been ignoring for 9 years.

My dealership did enact MASSIVE layoffs though. I'd say about 70% of the employees have been furloughed. They only kept the 10 core technicians, 2 advisers, 2 salesmen, 2 parts people, and a couple managers.
They laid off All quick lane techs, detailers, runners, used car techs, finance people, office staff, and most salesmen service advisers and parts people.

The employee parking lot which usually is overflowing is mostly empty. Strange times we live in.

I have been deemed essential as well here in Michigan so we are still taking in cars... My kid started working for the local parts store and he too is having to work as car parts are essential. So basically I am exposed as he comes and goes, and as the cars come and go.

Honestly the past two months, this month especially, have been really slow... a lot of canceled appointments and a lot of people just wanting to get the most minimum done as possible until this blows over, which I can't blame them. I would almost have made more if I closed my doors and collected unemployment since now self employed people can do that and get $300 a week plus $600 from the Feds, however that $600 is only good until the end of July unless they extend it. My problem is that if I did that I would probably suffer more credit line hair-cuts as the banks would be worried I was unemployed, then of course I would have a real hard time seeking out that ultra-low 2.5 - 3% interest refinance. So to me it would be like kissing $50k goodbye compared to making $5k and not working. I decided I'll take my ass out there and keep fixing the cars as they come. It's been tough though, and I have been noticing cost increases on everything from auto parts to food. 

These are strange times, it is compounded by the fact that it's an election year. All I know is China and the WHO have really failed and should be held to account!
