Lynyrd Skynyrd is / was a great band...A powerful testament to how Rock'n'Roll is brewed in the South...
Steve Miller never really did it for me...I always think that he's ripping-off someone's else's new-found-sounds, like Pink Floyd in the tune "Time keeps on shifting, into the future"...
I also didn't listen to the above remixes, since they reveal a lack of any talent or creativity, since they're making money on old stuff that's been around for 40-years, & should be left alone.

Yes, the Geto Boys is an aquired taste... as a kid growing up it was one of them tunes that was familar yet, for the time, very controversial.
Most of your music now days is sampled from other songs in the past... the Geto Boys just rapped to the back-beat of some popular rock songs and had some funny lyrics, usually sexual.
Some songs now days you really have to listen to hear the sample, perhaps it's the beat, or even a whole song sang a whole new way.
I love Lynrd Skynrd's music! I like a few of Steve Millers songs, but I more or less agree with you... not the best... but the girls seemed to love it, and you know what that means! lol
No... The Geto Boys is FOR SURE not everyones cup of tea, same with Cyprus Hill...
But this was always a Halloween Favorite for me
Detroit rock city? My generation was post "white-flight" lol

Alice Cooper made a classic 1974 album called "Muscle of Love" lol... It still sounds great today, & better than all that recycled trash imo...

So I did actually listen to the "Ghetto Boys" & their poor remakes of other artists tracks...I lasted about 3-seconds on each track...
How does a country with a population of around 300-million people, & such a rich history of music & culture tolerate this garbage ?.....
Grossly disappointed.
This I hope cheers people up ;) ! One of America's finest moments right-at-you ;) !

It's an acquired taste Rastus... I used to jam this stuff in my 1985 Chevy S-10 with knob stereo and passive subwoofer, Boones Farm and women. Back then it was the equivalent of black Paul Bunyan story telling. Just some kids fucking around. Benny Hill and all the greats always had hetrosexual reference but perhaps not as in your face as Geto Boys, but you didn't have to squint to read between the lines either!
I'll admit this is not your family bulletin... therefore I'll leave you with some Trick Daddy to knaw on,

Music "is" IMO supposed to evolve over-time, for the betterment of the people listening, so that they're entertained, whilst being taken on a little musical journey...
It's supposed to open the door to your IMAGINATION !!!
All this "so-called-new-stuff" only stimulates brain-deadness imo, since it all sounds the same to me. Different words to the same beat, with sampled sounds on-top does not compute to imaginative musical inspiration in my books lol...
But whatever, the masses seem to like it, & who am I ?...
Thankfully there's still hope out there in modern times...Check this out...Even STP can knock-off the volume & produce extraordinarily beautiful music, as this whole album represents...

I lasted around 10-seconds this time...Right-up until the camera pulled off the chicks ass...And then I spent a few seconds wondering WTF this dude talking about, & WTF is he doing with his hands yo ???...
I do remember a pretty-hot blonde lady around 1979-80 making all of this "rap"-stuff popular...I didn't think it would last, & neither did she, as it's only in the middle-8 section lol !
You'll like this;) !
Whoops...I meant this one lol ;) ! But at least you can hear in the 1st post that she can sing hey ?...

Big Blondie fan here... that last song is one of my favorites! Never really thought of it that way, as her rapping... but now that you point it out, you're right! She is rapping! "Call me" and "One way or another" are two of her more popular songs as I'm sure you already know. She also did a song called Detroit 442, which may be a nod to the Olds 442... but I can't say for sure... the Detroit 442 is not her "best" work but she looks really hot in the video.
That being said, perhaps we need to toss something out there more familar... you were for sure living under a rock in the 90's if you don't know this one!

The 1990's is where I went "underground" , & listened to independent radio-stations, that were kind-of like your FM stations in the 1970's-80's...Meaning hardly any adds, & long sessions of new, & up & coming music from all sorts of bands & styles. You got the "new" hit-makers around 3-6-months or so before mainstream radio would pick-them-up, & turn them into "stars" lol...Definitely no popular music from trend-setters being played too much, only fresh, new, underground stuff...
Blondies album "Parallel Lines" is quite unique in our household, where from its release in 1978, & for the next few years at least, "everyone" in the family liked it being played, especially in the car. It's one of those rare albums where all the tunes work quite well from start-to-finish, & mom, dad, plus my older brother & little sister all enjoyed listening to it, at the same time...
This is the stuff I liked in the 1990's...

Classic, but I never really got into Rush... know a few people that are though.
Did everyone check out the Super Bowl LVI halftime Hip-Hop throwback? A lot of people recall them days and tunes... and while I'm not the biggest Slim Shady fan, I did spin some Dre in his day... 50 Cent too... sure, some of Eminem's songs were okay, but I never bought a complete album from him or anything.
This was one of my first exposures to the rap scene, a local rapper... this was usually played in or around the timeframe of the Gheto Boys, which I'm thinking is early 1990's and late 80's... you could really activate your hate with this stuff.
Emphasis on the white Fox body... I was a big Mustang fan back then.
Here is one from the vault!
We didn't have cell phones back then, but I had a nice little compact super 8... LIVE SELLC toxic masculinity right there folks!
