hmm

Anyone ask India where they stand on this?

Seems to me it's almost like they aren't even being asked!

What say you, India?

If you ask me...

Well, it sure seems like India is trying to keep a low key...

Why is the media allowing this?

Prolly because India owns GoDaddy and ICANN.

Ta-Ta made short work of that once fine automobile manufacture!

Meanwhile, Twitter is trying to restore service in Russia!

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/twitter-says-trying-fully-restore-174824671.html

Why the hell Biden isn't clamping down on India's "Twitter" and "India" in general is beyond me...

Rubles, Rupees... both totally wortless to me!

WTF is wrong with you Uncle Joe? Clamp down on these hoes!

Regardless, it just seems to me that India really hasn't said much with regards to this Russian invasion... seems like they don't want to take a side or make a stand! Don't get me wrong, that is their right!

However, that just goes towards my feelings lateley when dealing with several companies that are currently run by Indians... allow me to explain, as last night I was slightly toasted.

We can start with Microsoft, here is a company that once was a powerhouse! Still is to some degree if you use Windows products... Microsoft is now being run by Satya Nadella, and since that time we have seen a lot of Microsoft products go subscription based. As someone who purchased the office suite back in 2003 I'm not interested in their new office 365, which is now subscription based... not much changes in the world of scheduling and email, or word processing and excel spreadsheets... the idea that you have to subscribe to the software and shell out every month or year is just garbage. I'd also go so far as to say Windows is quite bland now, and mimic's Apples OS in it's layout... Gone are the days of a rich Dangerous creatures skin, or some catchy tune... it's become almost impersonal! That is not to say Bill Gates himself was ever flashy, but he made the OS feel warm and welcoming in the early days...

Then we have Twitter... not exactly a favorite of mine even when Jack Dorsey ran it... but now I can only imagine Twitter is planning to monitize all the tools in it's shed... Alas, an Indian is chosen! LOL, because really... they are good at that! My main issues with Twitter relate to the fact a lot of business and politicians use Twitter, and when I have a problem I use Twitter for calling them out! And rightfully so, as some of the things they say or do, on or off Twitter is equally as painful at times. The idea that someone like me is silenced on Twitter for calling Elon Musk a retard, and not liking Twitter in general is not what I consider to be a very equitable place. It was more or less just a waste of five years! But now it seems, with a new Indian CEO trying to turn over a new leaf it's just more of the same bullshit, but now it's going to start costing it's members for the "Twitter Blue" subscription (keyword)... I don't put much faith in Parag Agrawal to make any market moving changes at Twitter to allow everyone their voice... No, quite the opposite... In fact, the best thing Parag had going for him sliding into the CEO position was the fact he WASN'T Jack Dorsey... and that may very well be the main reason behind it, because Jack has his hands in all kinds of stuff... conflicts were starting to rear their head.

And then finally, the very penticle of the Indian experence is when you have a company that is not only run by an Indian, but is also OWNED by an Indian company! Yes, you guessed it! GoDaddy! I have written a vast amount in this forum about how this company really went down-hill after being aquired by an Indian company... Under Bob Parsons GoDaddy had some spunk, maybe even too much, but you always got a good deal and more than you paid for! Since it's takeover everything is a nickel and dime affair, and customer service? FORGET ABOUT IT! Non existent! My web hosting plan went from USD $2.99 a month to almost $14 a month! And that's not all! Even at $14 a MONTH for hosting, they don't give you any SSL's so the domain is more or less blocked by most browsers! And they seem to feel this is okay! To make things worse my Domain name renewals used to be under $10 per year in most cases and included email! Now they are closer to $20 and GoDaddy has actually farmed out their email to Microsoft, who want's $30 per year for EACH email account or they just block the emails! No options for cache all forwards to a single paid subscription either! This was the last straw for me and I am actively trying to move ALL my hosting needs to another company.

My point here is, all these companies have one thing in common... business brings in an Indian CEO, or in some cases the entire company is bought out, and the place turns into an impersonal non-stop nickel and dime gotcha gag-reel where you get less than 10% of the original offerings! And this is totally cool with them!

Now I know a few Indians myself, most I know are pretty reasonable people... some have flat out come out and told me about how things are so crowded in India... I'm not saying any of them spoke poorly of India, rather they just say that things are much different here in the USA and I think they must like that because a lot of them have been here decades.

So I don't want anyone coming away from this thread thinking I don't like India or Indians for that matter! I just don't like the status quo of their business philosophy, which feels like you're just another number waiting in line to pay a fee for a product that will be wholly less than when you orginally started using it. There is over a billion people living in India, and I'd imagine in crowded parts (from what I'm told they are ALL crowded) that such a philosophy could easily be born and applied to American business... but I'll be a friend enough to tell you it's not the kind of business I wan't to be engaged in... as the one thing all three of the companies mentioned above have in common are that I have quit using their services and products, and in the case of GoDaddy I'm actively looking to leave them.

It all got me wondering "What is India's position on Russia?", if we needed their help would it be subscription based?

Very interesting! I did not know the India times offered an English version!

Seems to me the Russian events are not exactly headlines like they are here, but they do seem pro US... at least this particular news-desk. Then again, if the site is in English it's clear who the target audience is. lol

I just had to get this all off my chest... I really am having problems with GoDaddy... been with them for going on TWO DECACES! This email situation and lack of SSL's has just reached a point that I am livid! How can a company like GoDaddy ask for $14 a month for hosting and not include SSL's? They know a majority of the web browsers today will block it by default! Yet they seem to justify this joke of a service and try to sell me other rediculous things... it's like their is no limit to their crazy!

Twitter is another one that gave me issues recently... I went to access my old suspended account the other night and apparently since my email has changed it logged me into a new account, then blocked me... not sure if my old suspended account is erased now? But I really wanted to check the timeline on some things, which I used to be able to do, even while the account was suspended. Keep in mind, I gave Twitter five years... and while that's nothing compared to the 20 I've given GoDaddy, neither are good business! In a way GoDaddy is censoring me by not giving us SSL's, yet charging me top dollar! Now they have done away with all email controls, given it to Microsoft! It's like what am I paying these people for!

Very unhappy on both accounts... It would be nice if some of these Indian executives would show me the same kind of love I have shown them and their companies! But I feel like just a number, even worse than that really... and I'm paying for this in some cases!
