Something about driving a 560 in the fall/winter months!?

I dont know if its just me but there seems to be an extra enjoyment in driving the Mercedes-Benz w126 chassis in the cooler/cold weather. Maybe its the fact that the climate control system keeps you just warm enough, maybe its the fact that in cold weather the windows and moonroof are normally closed so there is less wind and traffic noise to interupt your driving experence.

Thats not to say that the cabin is not comfortable in the hot summer with the AC, just that the cool weather really makes one appreciate the fact there not freezing. Heavy cloths, jackets and trench coats are worn with comfort when driving the w126 and the leather seats make it easy to slide in and out.

I love the fall season here in Michigan when the heat dies off and the fall season starts. I wonder if anyone else has noticed this besides me?

That's a great 300 SDL !

Right on the button for the w126 diesel performance.

Good work to whoever owns that car.

Now Rex - what car have you got ??? Do you own any cars ???

You have yet to prove you own a car. One year, we'll get a picture, i'm sure.

Hey Usershit, why dont you try viewing that video with something more than a 56K Internet connnection? Our shit is fast, but not fast enough to speed up your slow ass connection! LoL

Well its yet another start of a cool fall season here in Michigan. While my customers have been most gracious in keeping me behind the wheel of some of my most fierce performance overhauls, I have yet to experience that fall bliss while driving my Mercedes. Maybe its the beautiful autumn colors as the leaves turn different colors, maybe its the smell of the brisk air and leather, whatever it is I have been too damn busy racing around in American muscle cars to even care. LoL. Maybe my wife can tell you more about how they feel in the cool onset of fall 2007. As for now I have been distracted by the smell of ultra-high octane turbo blue, and the smell of burning rubber.

For the next few months I will have the daunting job of driving two of my most highly modified vehicles. One is a 1988 Mustang 5.0 LX and the other is a 1994 Camaro Z28. Some time soon I plan on heading back to the track for another fun filled day. Maybe we will get lucky and Satish will take us up on our offer for a race. LoL

Sorry about the off topic runoff. I have not had much wheel time on a Mercedes in the past few months as the family has officially taken it over, but it remains on the road needing nothing more than the motor mounts we shredded this time last year when pulling whole shots. LoL. Maybe this year we will replace them so we can rip them back out when we test the Nitrous systems. LoL.

Horsepower, fall weather, and cars.... No autumn would be right without them.

Well after burning up the roads for the past two months I got the opportunity to drive the Benz on the first "Official" cool fall day. My destination? The pumpkin patch with the entire family!

One really gets a real perspective of just how solid and smooth a Mercedes is after driving other non-luxury vehicles. If you ever have the opportunity to park your Mercedes for a few months and drive something else OTHER than a Mercedes you will know what I am talking about. Its like finding Mercedes bliss all over again. Driving down that bumpy gravel road was an absolute joy. Looking down that long hood at the Mercedes emblem. Its been too long so I went out and purchased myself a winter Mercedes. Its not all too bad; its a 1987 Mercedes-Benz 420 SEL Black on Black. I am letting a customer of mine borrow it while I am servicing his vehicle. Its a good thing really as I need someone to run her out for more than the 1 or 2 days a week that I drive. After putting the Smoke Silver Mercedes in service it has been doing remarkably well as a daily driver. Considering this Mercedes is basically the test bed for all our research and information publications you may have seen it around.

I am attaching photos of the black on black Benz I have recently acquired. Although I love loud obnoxious super fast V8 sports cars, I find the Mercedes-Benz 560 is a well rounded "Sports Sedan" that is best left unmodified for it is truly as good as it gets right out of the box. The ride, the power, the feel its everything I thought a Mercedes would be and more.

Well we got our first cold fallish day today with lots of rain and wind.

Got my first cool weather experience for the season. As usual the Mercedes was like a warm blanket in the cold, windy and rainy weather. The heated seats were used for the first time since early this year and I think its a testimate to Mercedes that these old seat heaters still work!

While I LOVE driving these vehicles in the winter, after all the ones that have been coming in rusted up I am seriously considering taking her off the road for this winter. I dont have any rust on my 560, however I sure dont want it to start. I am thinking of just driving the 4X4 thru the snowy months as clean examples of the W126 are getting harder to come by.

The day after Thanksgiving I will be taking her off the road, so this years winter Mercedes fun may be cut short.
