Has anyone noticed the cost of Diesel fuel?


It seems to be getting out of hand and everyone is blaming Bush. Considering the US Government is going to be handing out large checks this year I would say the extra cost of gas for the normal 12-15K miles per year driver has been off-set.


But what do we do next year? confused

Diesel gas at one station was $4.52 a gallon! I went down the street not even a mile and they had it for $4.08. Its fricking rediculous!

I mean to think your getting a deal on gas at $4.08 because the guy down the street is trying to get $4.52... Im still getting ripped off at $4.08!

I dont know but its really pissing me off. I just buy less, fuck em. I dont do any major driving so its only a minor pain, but for the people driving a lot I know they REALLY have to be pissed.

$9.20 a gallon is serious business though... didn't mean to marginalize that fact!

It's a damn good thing you drive a bike! You have probably saved a ton already! 

If gas got that high here it would be the only thing people would talk about... already it's up there!

Feel very lucky I don't have much driving outside of pleasure, and even then I haven't had much time for pleasure... the weather still sucks here so I haven't had to juice up the Vette, still got $1.89 a gallon premium in her, but not much...

Here in Oz, once upon a time, a visit to the local light-aircraft airport, saw some money exchanged & aviation-fuel supplied that not only contained good-ol-lead, but an octane rating of between 110 to 130, depending on the time-of-year. It was about 50% more expensive than 98 on average....Regretfully, a fatal parachute accident back in around 2002 saw the pump close for good..

Other than that, racing rules dictated what you were & weren't allowed to use, & generally speaking, lots of people opted for regular 98 pump-fuel, than Shell's racing 100 equivalent.

I like drag-racing, but only from the POV of what you can get a regular street-legal car to do. Beyond that, its pissing-in-the-wind imo, though I support who-ever wants to do what-ever. It's a big world, lots of people, & lots of ways to keep smiling. One's own thing is just that !

I was just pulling your chain again... lol

I LOVE the smell of racing gas... gives me a hard on and makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up! LOL, not even kidding! 

Around here there are just a few stations that sell it, and even back in the day when gas was $1.50 the racing gas was between four and six dollars a gallon... also leaded... usually around 110-120 octance depending... we would have to bring funnels to fill the later model cars because the nozzel is bigger for the leaded gas and the fill hole on unleaded vehicles is smaller, so it wouldn't fit! This was usually on 1986-up un-leaded vehicles fitted with converters. 

But yeah... I'll have to check and see what it's going for, or even if it's avaliable anymore...

1. They have plenty of oil, & can supply plenty, so why the massive price-hike ?

2. Is this a typical over-reaction to current world events ?

3. How low will fuel-prices drop once settled down again ?

You know the nice thing about high gas prices?

There seems to be far less people on the road, less people in the DMV and overall less people in general... 

I only say that because I don't get off the farm often, so when I do manage to escape it's usually pleasure driving... 

Today I was able to get an appointment at our Secretary of State the same day! $500 later and all my yearly fee's are paid until July 2023... that included a few title transfers and a new historical plate, along with renewals of the truck and the Vette.

It's always been expensive to have vehicles, but the lady said I got off easy! She said most people spend $1000's with new vehicles! Since the price of the fee's are based of MSRP then you can imagine the newer it is, the more it's MSRP creeps up.

Add in the new gas prices and it's enough to make you start drinking! LOL, but what isn't now days?

Fuk dem. I got a dumpster dumping setup. I pick em up and "180 them" behind me upsidedown. While they are at the line waiting for gas. Oh not yet? Watch for it. We have had limits here quite a while. Used to be 20 gal, then it was 80 bucks, now it's 74 bucks top. I can't fill up anything, fill the F350 halfway shuts off, not even my 4 lawn mowing gas cans.

"It's Putin, it's Putin"..... Bullshit..... Inflation and gas (kinda go together) skyrocketed way before Putin and Ukraine. Bidung sucks, I could shit a better president. (got the hat)

I don't see why everyone is down on Biden in here...

Far as I am concerned, people shouldnt be driving no two hours to work every day... if someone REALLY likes to drive that much, then they can pay for it! 

At one time I was getting a massive E350 LT rated tire for $45... This was just a few years ago! It was MASSIVE and heavy, as I installed it I wondered how in the HELL this tire could only cost $45 to make, ship, stock and sell... Now that tire is $130, and I have had to buy a few on a customers job... Sure I felt like kicking myself in the ass, since I had to explain to the customer that his once $80 tire was now $180, EACH! 

My point is, the reason that tire was $45 was because a foreign country was subsidizing that tire market... it only hurt our local tire manufactures... The same goes with gas prices! We will probably never see .45 cent gallons of gasoline, unless people do shift to electric and there is no need for gasoline... rather just a hobby of sorts. In that case I'm sure the Arabs and Russians would be selling it for whatever they could get that wasn't nothing! There could come a time when electric becomes so popular that gasoline will try lowering gas to ridiculously unheard of prices to compete... the important thing to keep in mind right now; is that gas will always be an expense, and as such the extra we are paying must be mitigated by decreasing the miles driven, OR by increasing prices to reflect these additional cost.

Word on the street is that Social Security will see an over 30% increase to the average recipient due to this inflation! I won't know for another 25-30 years, if it's still around. The fact people just can't go around using abortion as contraception should help to ensure we have lots of new adults contributing to the coffers 25-30 years from now when I have to take up RC Airplanes and building antique engines (read that as anything not made in the 2000's).

I have never had to pay over $80 to fill my Corvette before... But recently paid almost $110! This is for premium mind you... But the point is, I just drive less until it's back down again... and it always does go back down. Having dabbled in the stock market the past year and a half I know all about that ups and downs BS... and it's all speculation, capitalisim if you will! But it beats the alternative, which is communism. 

I dunno... I've been pleasently surprised with Biden... and while I don't share their feelings on a great many "hot button" issues, that doesn't seem to interfere with what I'm trying to do. But that's only because Trump stacked the SCOTUS!

I liked Trump the first few years too, although I never seen the support under Republicans that I have seen under Democrats...

Maybe I'm a lot like you guys in here, where I enjoy it better when people like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are whining and crying instead of being high on the horse and telling everyone else how the world should run because they got so damn lucky...

Hope that I never become that! Any cost increase SUCKS! PERIOD! Especially when it happens so quickly and by so much! Like what we are seeing right now across the board!

So I'm not making any excuses one way or the other, I am just offering some of my observations and solutions... they may or may not be helpful to others.

Happy 4th of July everyone! I'm on par to not have driven a single mile this fine day! But mostly because I have a broken valve spring on my newly aquired mule.

And another thing that sucks, is that Saudi Arabia could increase production to make up for most of the loss from the Russian oil sanctions, but they won't. At least they won't for Biden because MBS is another fascist authoritarian and would prefer one like Trump running the US again. From a macroeconomic perspective, oil prices are up for no other reason than the global fight between fascist authritarianism and democracy. I'm happy to pay more for democracy thank you very much, and any true American should do the same.

Let us not forget what the 4th of July is really about. It's about democracy, not cheap gas. Happy 4th everyone!

I doubt they'll be selling much gas then....

I wholly recommend that all of your slack-ass politicians get into reorganizing the public-transport-system, & make ways for folks to get to work yadda, yadda.

Electric cars aren't the answer as y'all know, at least the Tesla-crap they give us.

Public transport will see some revival I'd say over the next few decades...
