Recently a customer decided to upgrade from the standard "Pink" style I-beam rod to a set of brass bushed aftermarket H-Beam rods.
Comparing "Pink" Style I-beam rods to H-Beam rods just isn't fair. For starters the aftermarket H-beam rods are bushed with brass allowing for a full floating wrist pin. The looks of the H-beam rods are far more pleasing to the eye with great detail and smooth edges. The H-Beam rods come with ARP 8740 rod bolts, yeah that's right, just like the LS1. Instead of the traditional studs these rods come with the good stuff. The aftermarket H-beam rods are also weighted within +/- 1 gram and that is sure to squeeze out a few extra horsepower from a balance standpoint alone.
Also worthy of noting is the extra oilier holes.
Hands down the H-beam rods at a cost of just under $300 is money WELL SPENT.
I would have to say at this point, Pink I-beam rods are for pussies! LOL Not even the newer style Powdered Metal aka PM rods hold a candle to the quality found in the aftermarket H-Beam rods.
A 300 dollar H beam rod can't be a quality piece....

I agree.. I later found out them rods were the knock off brand. I modified the thread to read that. Not to mention the rods were not even CLOSE to being the same weight. You get what you pay for.
Its likley Eagle and the others sell off the rods they make that dont meet the weight of +/- 1 gram, and I think the ones shown above would be them.

FYI: Don't use eagle rods on a stock chevy crank. Or the other way around.
Makes for roasted center rod journals. Ask me how I know. That was at 15:1 compression, however.
