Depending on how things go this summer I am seriously getting excited about getting my F250 back together. I sure hope I dont have to run the truck up the banks ass, but after that tree fell on it, and my little off-road problems the shoe is now on the other foot.
Just wondering what it will take to mate a 5R110 Torqshift to a 351W. Also there seems to be a SLEW of electronics involved in the 5R110 but it would seem to me that this sucker is pretty stout. I dont know much about these 5R110's and to be honest I really dont get into Automatic Transmissions outside of replacing/servicing them. What do you guys think about the 5R110? Should I stick with the good old AODE normally found with the 351?
To make this truck fit my needs a gas engine is in order. After all I have been thru with this truck, I plan to keep it forever. Been looking at possible donor trucks. Anything from 1999-up will do. It would be SWEET to snag a later 2004/2005 roll over as my cab is pretty clean. I just love the sound of a tuned 351 with flowmasters, although I will miss the turbo whistle.

The 5R110 install will be harder than the instrument cluster idea. The TorqueShift does not have a valve body in the way you imagine it. You can try http://www.becontrols.com/ Baumann engineering but anything you are going to do is likely going to be spendy.
For such a young fellow, some of your ideas are........ interesting. The 351W is no longer available in new vehcles. Depending on what you want, it has a better chance of being a bad choice than good.
If you are hell bent for leather on the 5.8 idea.... I can see a 4R100 in your future.
No really, I realize that using the 5R110 may be more trouble than its worth. Bell housing, wiring and such will all prove to be a pain. It could also be argued that keeping the 5R110 would increase future service cost. There must be over 25+ terminals on the 5R110 transmissions electrical bulk head.
The 4R100 is also a consideration, but keep in mind I dont do much heavy pulling. I could get away with the AOD transmission but we all know the AOD series of transmissions couldnt hold Over Drive to save its life. But other than that, they arent too bad.
