Anti-Theft deactivation for 98 sable


is there a way to deactivate anti-theft on a 98 sable, lost transponder for in key. need help. please respond.

Your best bet is to call a locksmith... Most of them can program transponder keys these days. If you can't find one that can do that, you'll end up needing a tow to a dealership.

There is no way to bypass a pats system that I know of, and even if there were, it would be a lot harder and more expensive than just getting towed to a dealer and paying them to make you a new key.

Side note, you will need to prove to the dealership that you actually own the vehicle with a title/registration/insurance card ect. They won't make you a key unless you can prove ownership. Plan to pay approx $130 to have a new key cut and programmed plus any towing charge incurred...Assuming the key code for your sable is still stored in the Ford database.  I think they may only hold that info for 10 years, sooo there's a possibility you'll be not only paying for a dealer to program the new key, but also a sublet repair for a locksmith to come to the dealer to pick your lock to decipher how to cut the new one.

What happend to your key fob Duey?

You could try locating the keyless/alarm module and disconecting it. I am not sure if it effects other systems as I have never had to try it, however disconecting the battery should reset the vehicle, from there as long as you dont arm the system, it should not turn on.

If by chance you have neither the key fob or keys you will need a special tool to get the vehicle unlocked. From there just pop the hood, disconect the battery and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Here is a photo of the "Tool" you will need to get the door unlocked without a key.

To be honest I don't think that all the 1998 Sable/Taurus had the PAT's system, however if your vehicle DOES have it, your screwed. You will need to goto the dealer to get that problem resolved.

Post a photo of your key, then we can tell for sure if it has PATS or not.
