Obama holds secret meetings in India!

According to MSNBC.COM photos,

"White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, right, argues with an official from the Indian Prime Minister's office after the travelling White House press pool was refused entry to the bilateral meeting between President Obama and India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Nov. 8."

Please tell us more about this "Transparency" Mr. Obama!? I don't feel the President should be making back room deals with the indians without a reporter there to let us know what is said. Does the President work for the America people, or do the American people work for the President? Cuz I don't recall a very pleasent outcome for the last President that suggested we "Ask not what our country could do for us, but what we could do for our country". Just another example of over-reaching government brought to you by the Democratic party!

As I understand it. The administration and the Indian government had agreed that the 8 top reporters in the White House press pool would be allowed inside, but upon arrival, it was the Indian officials who decided at the last minute to only let 5 White House reporters in. Then Obama's press secretary blocked the Indians from closing the door with his foot before they could shut out the last 3 and got in to an argument with the Indians and threatened to pull Obama from the event all together unless all 8 reporters were allowed inside. Gibbs won, and actually got more foreign reporters allowed inside as well.

In essence, Gibbs fought for MORE transparency.

You're welcome Rex.

Foolish PowerStroker...

Can you provide us a link to the source that told you that crap? It would seem to me that Obama would have been the one to put up a stink. Why wasn't Obama out there making a big stink?

See you don't even know how long Obama and the Indian were alone behind closed doors, but a picture tells a thousand words!

Why do you post up links that SUPPORT my claims and then act like they support yours?

Did you even take the time to read that story?

Quote from your huffington post link-

"White House reporters were held outside the entrance to Obama and Singh's joint press conference Monday for two hours because Indian officials refused to allow them in and repeatedly changed the rules for entry, such as whether or not laptops were allowed inside."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/11/08/robert-gibbs-fights-india-reporters_n_780270.html

TWO HOURS POWERSTROKER! TWO HOURS! A lot can happen in two hours!

So I think it's easy to see that given the lack of trust, and the fact that Obama had come all that way for a meeting, they were un-prepared and the relations between India and the USA are NOT as rosey as you or Obama would like us to think!

It scares me to think how bad Americans got fucked under this new trade deal. If they changed up things as small as this, you can bet your ass they took advantage of Obama's "I'll sign anything just to say I did something" mentality.

It seems you don't like free trade deals. Have you checked with the other Republicans to see how they feel about them?

I guess oxymorons are back in style.

Exactly what is a FREE TRADE AGREEMENT? If it were really FREE TRADE why would there need to be an agreement? Shouldn't the idea of FREE mean that it's the people doing the trading who make the agreements?

I don't think it's just Republicans that hate these crooked trade agreements such as NAFTA, WTO and now this new India agreement, which by the way Democrats may have seeded that $200 million quote to distract us from whats REALLY IMPORTANT, like "What's in the agreement".

Funny very little has been mentioned officially about that, even though our President campaigned on transparancy.

You would rather the whole nation be destroyed than admit you are wrong, huh PowerStroker?

Apparently your type of moron never went out of style.

It's an agreement between nations about not imposing tarrifs on eachother, or at least capping them at a very low level and resolving any disputes through a mediator.

That's my point, the overwhelming majority of Republicans actually LOVE these deals.  That was one thing they worked really well with Clinton on, the difference is Clinton saw how they have gutted the middle class, and regrets his involvement.  Republicans knew all along that these policies would gut the middle class, that's why they did it.  Remember my challenge about showing me some pro-working class legislation from Republicans in the last 15 years... Yeah, I'm still waiting for your answer.

If the negotiations are still in progress, there's nothing to be transparent about.

Actually, if the nation gets destroyed, it will be because I was right about people like you.

Yeah, no crap... I'm looking at the bill.

I guess China isn't killing America fast enough? What don't you get about the fact that putting a cap on tariffs will only help India and hurt America? China, India, Japan and even South Korea all export more to the USA than we import to them. How are we going to get jobs back in America if we open the trade flood gates to another nation of 1 billion+ citizens? Mediation is a joke, we both know that right?

That's my point, the overwhelming majority of Republicans actually LOVE these deals.  That was one thing they worked really well with Clinton on, the difference is Clinton saw how they have gutted the middle class, and regrets his involvement.  Republicans knew all along that these policies would gut the middle class, that's why they did it.  Remember my challenge about showing me some pro-working class legislation from Republicans in the last 15 years... The Republicans love these deals? So are you saying the Democratic party is the lap dog of the Republican party? The question here is if the Republicans knew all along that these policies would gut the middle class, how come the rich ass Democrats in office didn't? Are you saying your party is not only ignorant, but a puppet for the Republican party? This is getting interesting PowerStroker. Esp. since it's a majority of Democrats that are over there. How many Republicans we got over there PowerStroker?

If the negotiations are still in progress, there's nothing to be transparent about.

Are you to tell me that the Obama Administration went on this big trip without a solid plan in place that both sides agreed on? WTF? I don't recall hearing anything about India trade deals until the last 24 hours before Obama was to leave! Yes we all knew the G-20 was comming up, but Americans could have never expected this. It wasn't cooked up on the Republicans watch.

Actually, if the nation gets destroyed, it will be because I was right about people like you.

How so PowerStroker? Because I feel less government making bad trade deals and forcing flawed healthcare laws upon us is bad? This bullshit that's going on isnt going to leave our nations kids in a good spot! I'd rather suck it up NOW than leave a mess to the American kids! You can do better!
