Leaking to help sell an arguably necessary war and leaking to get your ass re-elected are two very different things. Furthermore, with Holder's boys quarterbacking the investigation, rather than an independent counsel (which the Libby investigation had) do you think anything is actually going to happen or anyone will actually get fingered for these leaks? I think the answer is something that all of us can agree on...

You're asking and answering far more profound questions than I actually had.  You said leaks like this make you sick to your stomach...  All I wanted to know is if you went running for a bucket when I posted the Bush leak story?

But since you mention "leaking to help sell an arguably necessary war."  It was my understanding, that at that point, the war had already been sold.  And the leak was retaliation against the guy who pointed out that some of the intelligence used to sell it was very, very wrong, and understood to be so by those selling it.  And by leaking the information they did, they intentionally hurt his wife by blowing her cover when she was in the middle of being a true patriot.  So when I ask myself what is worse between a desire to be re-elected, or a desire to engage in war profiteering on false premises, I must say, Obama is by far the lesser of the two evils.  And if Obama is truly behind the leaks of which you speak, I think it probably has more to do with PR and psychological warfare against Iran than an actual desire to gain for himself politically.

I guarantee if Obama had done something like leaking the identity of a covert CIA agent to sell a war so his contractor buddies could make billions off the taxpayers, you would want him hung for treason.

Unless you happened to own stock in the aforementioned contractors, then it's just good business.

Are you kidding? Sure I was pissed & sick about the Plame affair. And at least it was investigated correctly, and someone paid the price (perhaps not enough people did, but that's another debate).

The selling of the war was not a one-time event ... It was a multi-year process to sell & keep it sold. However you are making a (common) assumption that profiteering was the motive for the war. I'm not convinced that was the motivation, but again that's another debate). there are many potential motivations for the war, morally correct or incorrect.

The fact is that numerous things have been leaked recently, during this administration, of importance to national security as well as to our allies. And if you look at it honestly, the only real, logical motivation for ALL of them is the same -- to give political props to a President who has precious few positives that a majority of American voters can agree on. Most of the big "wins" that Obama touts are things that less than 50% of the American public thinks are real achievements. Not to mention all of the broken promises and overblown rhetoric from the 2008 campaign that has left many '08 Obama voters feeling completely snookered/suckered.

Leaking multiple security secres to pump up a President's weak record IMHO is just as morally despicable as what happened with the Plame affair.

And don't go using the lame "Clinton lied, nobody died" line and applying it to Obama. The simple fact with that stupid line is that Clinton DID lie, and by using that line Liberals even admit their President (Clinton) is a lying crook!!

The bottom line is that national security secrets are being leaked, supposedly by the administration that pledged to be toe most ethical administration in history.

I dont know about that PowerStroker!

Seems Holder is getting deeper and deeper every time I read the news! He's looking like the next fall guy for the Obama Administration. My only hope is that he (like you PowerStroker) realizes that discriminating based on political affiliation is un-professional. Surly he must know that like all Americans his power is only temporary, and the deeper the hole the harder it will be to dig out. His saving grace? Obama could pardon him, but if the charges happen to be filed after Obama loses the election, say April 1st then things could get really-really interesting.

I myself have had to deal with corruption in the courts along with municipal police departments. It's amazing how power can go to peoples heads, as if they think they are beyond the reach of their superiors. It's very frustrating to say the least, especially when your the one who is getting screwed around by some fool drunken with power.

I'd imagine this is how the Families that lost loved ones in Fast and Furious debacle feel, and also how the people who work hard and honestly to keep intelligence under wraps.

Time will tell. But the idea of leaking national secrets to promote something as insignificant as a campaign seem more than just selfish, it's down right treason! And the Fast and Furious debacle has had serious implications with regards to weapons that have killed Americans and from what I understand there are still a great many of these weapons still at large! The fact that Fast and Furious to my understanding was an absolute failure means that someone is going to have to be held accountable.

It's times like these that I am glad I'm not into Politics for a living.
