Stoma does not own a Mercedes, so pay him no mind.

Best bet is a fresh rebuild with either nitrous, supercharger or turbo. Either way it's going to cost you some bucks.

How much depends on who and what you know. Hell I know some idiots who spent $55,000 to get less than 300 HP. biggrin

This is my first time looking at this forum. I have been on many tech forums, some for years and I have never see any posts allowed like the ones stoma writes, I hope this is not an indication of the intellectual level this forum operates. I guess there is no moderator control or oversight.

stoma,

you really have a way to express yourself, I can tell you are highly educated, judging by your extensive vocabulary and use of proper grammer. Were you an English major in college?

Just wondering,

Albe,

there is another forum R107 atwww.benzworld.org where you will get true help, answers to your questions, and most of all you are respected even as a new member.

BenzWorld.org is not my idea of a GOOD forum.. I could ban Stoma, Erase his post, and even ban YOU! But what fun is that?

I think it's quite clear to see the Original Poster has himself quite a little "pipe dream" going... That's all nice and dandy because BW is chock full of "pipe dreamers" too, but really?

This is the real world here, if you don't like it just leach off the photos like the rest of the BW.ORG crew does. I might add we have some really cool threads coming up, I been very busy in the 560/420 overhaul process the past few months and some REALLY quality informational photos have been collected! You wont want to miss it!

By the way Albe, how is your project coming along? Show me something worthy of praise and it will be given!

This forum is overseen by Mechanics, not an advertisement firm.

EDIT - Actually I had not noticed how out of hand Stoma had been getting, and as such he has been banned for good. You should know Stoma was banned for his statements in the Welcome New Users section.

I still hold to my opinion that BenzWorld.org is not what I consider to be a great hang out. The moderators of that web forum are in my opinion worse than Stoma.

You are more than welcome to stay over there in BenzWorld.org 71_340

SELLC,

I wasn't citizizing the you or the technical expertise of this forum. I was, however, surprised that members like stoma were allowed to use the kind of language displayed in his replies to the original post. Why would you ban me from this forum...for questioning the posting rules? At least I was respectfull about it.

As far as Benzworld.org is concerned, we just a bunch of 107 owners, sharing what knowledge or experience we have or gained working on these cars. Nobody knows everything there is to know, that is why you share knowledge and post your mistakes, so others don't make them. I learned and still a lot at that forum and I am sure I can learn a lot here from you and others, and I appreciate the information.

Like I said, no disrespect intended.

The 107 forum on BW.ORG does seem to be a more serious and level headed crew (a few pricks aside) but it does not change the fact that BW.ORG management put's a stench on the forum so strong I can not help getting sick every time I visit. Such a gawd awful stench...

Anyway, what I don't know about a Mercedes I am soon to learn, but usually thru hard work, determination and an advanced understanding of mechanics, not some BS hearsay guesswork as such is usually the case on BW. What's worse? They wont even allow you to correct these idiots (many of them moderators who dont know their ass from a hole in the ground anyway).

You see, if Stoma would have had valid points to his verbal diarrhea of the mouth he never would have been banned. He more or less suffered from an incurable case of turrets syndrome. I have come to the conclusion that Stoma's sole gole on this forum was to get banned. I just gave him what he wanted.

So... In other words... No disrespect taken.

P.S. - I got your email last week. Not being able to see the car first hand means I am limited in my ability to state with certainty the problem with you tick, however, you could have a small exhaust leak at the manifold or collectors? Sometimes a exhaust leak can almost sound like a tick to the untrained ear. Also it is possible to have a bad hydraulic compensator and or worn follower if you really think the tick is coming from the valve-train.  Be sure to check everything else real close. They sell stethoscopes for finding noises like this, so I would try and get a lock on the exact area and then focus on whatever is around that when the valve cover is off (if it's not an exhaust leak).

I am willing to bet one of the three is causing your problem. You can also buy offset keyways for the cam sprockets to bring that one bank back into perfection.

Good luck.

Hello folks,

I thought that I might also mention that cutting a suitable length of garden hose, and then holding one end to your ear whilst running the other end along the suspected length of leaking exhaust manifold etc will accurately reveal the leak source. Also a screw-driver of suitable length will reveal a noisey valve train component aswell, when held against your ear and valve cover etc etc.

Cheers,

Rastus
