Still, an AMG 6.0 DOHC Wide body is somewhat of a unicorn, but that seems like a lot of miles for a vehicle with almost 100k on the clock and a faded interior and dirty engine. Poor presentation on the sellers part. The AMG SEC is pretty cool looking, but I think if I had lay out my own cash I'd go for the $33,000 SEL with 14k miles on the clock.
Someone somewhere has spent a lot of $$$ at some point on that SEC...( AMG Japan ??? This is news for me ).
Average 560SEL's here in Oz sell for many & varied amounts of dollars, but I can't say I've seen one at the asking price above...That's in the price range of Very Good Condition & low mile 560SEC's !
Might be waiting a while to sell that SEC, unless the cars tidied-up for sure !
It seems that a nice paint job on your own SEL may well & truly pay for itself three-fold if you ever sold your baby SELLC ! You were certainly right in their value increasing over time, no one can doubt that !
Good post,
Rastus

Actually that AMG 6.0 DOHC is in kilometers so it's actually closer to 50,000 miles rather than 100,000 as I was saying.
Still, they could have at least cleaned it up real nice... What for $150,000 they couldn't afford to have it professionally detailed prior to the sales photos?

Maybe.... Or perhaps they were trying to preserve the "patina".. I myself would like to see waxed door jams and a clean motor on a vehicle costing $150k, but that's just me.
LOL

I agree! It's not only a nod to the W126, but most of all to the person who was able to keep this vehicle in this condition for all these years!
If I had $33k to burn, I do it in a second! Only problem being is I don't even have a place to store such a car that would be worthy of such a clean car! You'd need a climate controlled area like your living room with an electric fence to surround it! And no windows or you might get a hint of sun-fade!
It would be work! And it would be hard to even drive it on the road without constant worry! Someone filthy rich will buy this car and drive it every day I bet. Or maybe not, but that's usually how it goes.

Then again, $33k is about what you will pay for a new Honda Accord, if not more! So there is tremendous value in this car for sure given it's MSRP of $80,000!
I've got to stop looking at this car before I do something stupid! LOL
