Yo PowerStroker, how are them Scorpion engines holding up?


Buddy of mine that lives in Ohio and has recently scored a good job operating bulldozers picked up a 2012 F250 with the 6.7 liter. It's a real nice rig! Claims it set him back $40k! Not sure how many miles it has on it but looks super clean!

Just wondering how the new 6.7 Scorpion engines are holding up? I miss my diesel but honestly I liked the fact the older PowerStrokes had an "International" engine in them, gave it that Semi like appeal. Also like the loud sound and lack of exhaust emissions that requires the urethra fluid. Have seen quite a few 6.7's around here and they are pretty quiet, nothing like the old 6 liters..

The 6.7's have been pretty awesome as far as the engine goes. There have been some issues with the emissions aftertreatment system that injects fluid in to the exhaust to clean up the NOx emissions. Also we have seen the ones that spend a lot of time idling plug up their egr coolers, but for the most part I'd say the engine has been a great success.

Yo,

Does anyone know how much sulpher on average is in your diesel-fuels ?....I'll guarantee that your exhaust-system won't last too long, as adding the water to the exhaust gasses at temperatures less that 140-degrees celecius will have you making sulphuric-acid, among other nasties too...Your exhaust will rot-out in no-time.

If the water injection system is broken, I don't think I'd be one to be fixing it.

On the other hand, investing in shares for these exhausts may prove a great investment lol !

Since around 2008 pretty much everything you get in the U.S. is ultra low sulphur with less than 5 parts per million. At least as far as gas stations are concerned. A farmer can still order a delivery of red dyed non taxed diesel for his equipment which could have high amounts of sulfur.
