The o'l US-of-A Route 99 should satisfy any driving itches, & put big smiles on your face for sure.
I wouldn't bother with Vegas SELLC, it may spoil an otherwise envious country drive if you ask me.
I hope the Vette is treating you well, & don't forget that a quick WOT every hour or so to say 100-mph should burn-off any deposits that may start forming from constant 65-mph, blah, blah, blah...
Have fun.

Thanks Rastus! I must admit I am enjoying myself so far. It was one heck of a drive, 20+ hours straight thru to Colorado Springs! Had the woman drive a few hours while I took a power nap.
The Corvette has been doing well, checked the oil and it was exactly where it was when we left! Thats not bad at all for a 1996!
I look forward to the rest of the journey and will post some more photos soon.

Nice pics. At first I though got the picture of your passenger might have been a combover of yours flapping in the wind. But now Im guessing its a girls hair.
How was the corvette for a long ride like that? I imagine a long road trip in a corvette can be exhausting. Add top down, and yeah, it must be really exhausting.

Yeah.. Im banned from the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas because I held them to their word..
I was actually holding up my finger as if to say #1 but my lady took the photo late and now it looks like Im telling President Trump what I thought of his Hotels recent actions.

Having just now retuned home and seeing how these photos scaled on a regular browser as apposed to how they cropped on my phone... WOW! That sucks!
I am going to fix up the photos proper, but I can't believe they were so massive and some are sideways...
Speaking of Stoma... He called today looking for his password, so I guess the vacation is officially over.
Once I get the photos sorted proper I'll give a brief overview of my adventures, which get pretty interesting. I am still in somewhat disbelief myself - then again I drove 1900 miles straight, resting at rest stops for 4 hours - in a Corvette mind you.

It must be good to be home again. I'm sure you'll rest-up fine in a day or so.
It would be great if you could manage a trip like this once a year or so I'd have to say. You've only got the New England States & the Mississippi to navigate, & you've pretty much covered the US-of-A in your Corvette.
And cruising around the US-of-A is what your Corvette was made for too. Awesome that you're doing this, & taking the wife too.
How did she enjoy the trip, (or will the next trip be solo) ?

Yes it is good to be home again, thank you Rastus!
I had one heck of a time getting the photos re-organized... The amount of time spent trying to convert them and then upload them was ridiculous and Apple's IOS is 100% to blame for this. I am not going to go into detail but it was a major PITA, even fixing them! You may have to refresh or clear your browser history for the photos to show up properly scaled and in order, but I did fix them.
Yes a trip like this twice a year would be even better! LOL, still trying to hone in on the exact cost but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Cruising around the USA in the Corvette was everything it should have been and felt great! Averaged 23 miles to the gallon according to the trip computer! And that's taking into account all the hot dogging and 140MPH blast to clear the carbon from the valves and pistons (lol).
I have to admit that Utah was something amazing. California was nice, but with all the wild fires in northern and deep south we didn't dare venture into the ring of fire. Since we are not from the area we wouldn't know if we were traveling thru or into a fire zone really. We figured it best not to take the chance considering people were getting trapped in the fires and we missed out on the grapevine itself this trip due to the fires and us not wanting to take that chance.
I am pretty sure the wife will be on board for the next trip, and although it's pretty cramped conditions in the Corvette it's still worth it to get out and see the world. I am sure she enjoyed the trip because although we didn't visit the grapevine, we had a trunk full of Californias finest wine at all times.

The car ran well and was really quite comfortable. Not the room of a luxury sedan but I didn't feel all beat up afterwards.
Upon starting back home was the worst part... Looking down the barrel of 2000 miles, after a few hours it felt like it was going to take forever. Several stops at rest areas to take a nap on the ride home but the Corvette really was an excellent ride! Look forward to the next road trip!

Going thru and checking all the photos after switching hosting companies and implementing SSL (https) is really giving me the itch for a road trip!
I need to have all these cars finished before it gets to summer so that I can finish up on my home repairs! Hopefully I can get it all done and there will be enough summer left for one more try at the elusive (for me anyway) California Grapevine!

It's been awhile since I've taken a good road trip... but when gas was almost $6 a gallon for premium -- and plane tickes at $80 each way... well, it sort of takes the wind out of your sails by the time you crunch the gas numbers.
All that said, I'm not getting any younger -- but I'd still like to think I got a few more of these level road trips in me -- and so does my Corvette!
Here's to hopefully a prosperous 2024 that will see inflation ballanced with increased income -- or prices go back to where they were. I'm betting on the former more than the latter.
2017 was SEVEN years ago! How time flies!
