Actor and comedian Tim Allen, star of Foxs Last Man Standing, joked that liberals have no sense of humor about themselves. He also said he loves to poke at them over it all.
In a recent interview, Allen gleefully noted that liberals really, really hate a very funny conservative. Funny conservatives threaten the left.
However, Allen is not very worried about what liberals think.
I like pissing people off, and I said theres nothing, especially in this area, that pisses people off more than a very funny conservative, a smart, funny conservative that takes shots and is certainly self-effacing, Allen said in an interview with IndieWire about his show Last Man Standing, in which he plays a conservative-leaning character.
The left-wing point of view is so pervasive that they dont even realize its a point of view. It is just a point of view, he said. I think this character likes that, he likes to have another point of view. It makes him sharper and more interesting. But we dont push it.
While Allen said that the super conservative character he plays on his hit sitcom isnt a complete fit for his own beliefs, he still gets a kick out of ruining the day of liberals who get so upset at the shows humor.
I think its funny to make fun of people that are full of themselves, Allen said. Liberals have a very small window of sense of humor about themselves, so I love poking at it.
But right now, liberals, particularly progressives, hide behind large concepts, Allen added. If you dont agree with them, if you dont agree with that position, then you hate women, and you hate gay people, and you hate pro-choice people, whatever. And I said, That doesnt fit.'
Liberals rejoiced last year when ABC canceled Last Man Standing even though it was one of the networks highest rated shows. Conservatives understood that the show was only canceled because of its conservative subject matter.
But then the lefts day was ruined when Fox TV picked up the series and it came roaring back into ratings gold for the new network.
So, yeah. Allen knows a little bit about ruining the lefts day.
