Here's a great gig from Christmas 1975, for those that like things a bit on the heavy side...

Are these the songs your family would listen to at Christmas?

I mean, at least tell us there is some Chrismas story to go along with them! lol

I figured that since Melissa had been such a big part of your thoughts this past year, a suitable song at Christmas time would be good for closure on the matter...

This thread is like Burger King, you can have it your way!

In fact, I am going to round this thread out with some more songs this year because I need me some good Christmas music to get the spirit flowing!

Yo,

The opening melody of the above post is the same as Queen's "You take my breathe away"...From 1976's "A Day at the Races"....Why not compare ???

I think if we "compare" your post above, to all of the rest of them; it becomes clear that either you can't read, or you just have no Holiday Christmas Spirit...

LOL !

I listened to Shawnees post, & the opening few bars of music, & called-out rip-off...Which is why I posted the Queen tune, so folks can compare...And besides, it's an awesome "love" song...Isn't that what Christmas is about ?

Also, in the spirit of Christmas, you'll find in my "Chill-out music thread" your next tune to work on...Merry Christmas !

Perhaps this is more to your liking ???!!!

Interesting. Carol of the bells was actually written by a Ukrainian composer, 1918 I think it was. Was Freddie a classical aficionado? Thinking on some of his other songs like "Bohemian Rapsody". Classical/composer influence? BTW, Queen is great!

Yo Shawnee,

Yes, to some degree Freddie loved "classical music", & it's quite true, that a lot of these themes come into their music from time-to-time. I'd guess that comes from his piano lessons he had from boarding school maybe ? He was born in Zanzibar, & arrived in the UK around 1964.

In the mid-1980's, the band were busy doing their own "solo-projects" in-between touring as Queen, & Freddie got involved with a "then" famous classical singer & made an album. The name of the album is  "Barcelona" with "Montserrat Caballe"...

I honestly don't know much about this effort, as back then, there was no internet, & little news of this floated down here until much later.

He also had a solo-album out called "Mr.Bad Guy" in the mid-80's, which I received for a Christmas present, but it wasn't my-cup-of-tea. As a band, they were great, but as for the solo-projects, I don't mind some of the drummers efforts ( Roger Taylor ), & that's about it.

They made an album called "The Miracle", & well, let's just say that imo the 1970's stuff is head & shoulders above the rest, with the exception being "The Works" from 1983/84. I managed to pick-up a lot of bootleg DVD's a few years ago when the film "Bo-Rhap" came out, & they were always impressive as a live act on stage, there's no doubts there !

Here's another good tune for this thread however !

I didn't know about the solo stuff, interesting. Hmmm, I thought he had some classical tilt sometimes but never followed up on it. He kinda pissed me off when he died.
