February's full moon wont be a total lunar eclipse like Januarys Super Blood Wolf Moon, but it will be the closest full moon to the Earth this year making it look larger and brighter than normal.

The Snow Supermoon is expected to reach perigee, its closest point to us, at 3 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Farmers Almanac. At that point it will be 221,681 miles away from the Earth.

The full moon wont be 100 percent full until 9:54 a.m. Tuesday, but itll appear to be noticeably larger and brighter than normal when it rises on Monday and Tuesday night.

Assuming skies are clear over Dallas-Fort Worth, the moon could appear as much as 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than usual, according to the almanac.

How did the Snow Supermoon get its moniker? The supermoon label comes from the moons proximity to the Earth, according to the almanac.

In 1979 astrologer Richard Nolle dubbed any moon that came within 224,775 miles from the Earth to be considered a supermoon  the closest a moon can get is 221,429 miles. By that standard, Januarys Super Blood Wolf Moon would not have been considered a supermoon, according to the almanac.

Yo,

I do hope the moon goes back into its regular orbit...This summer has been really crap, with hardly any "good" days to enjoy IMO. Yes, we've had the regular heat, but blustery winds each & every-day has really spoiled what would / should have been a great summer with a little global-warming & all.

Maybe when Nancy gets into office come 2020, she'll fix this issue that Mr.Trump has obviously messed-up.

Yo Mate. Think the next snow moon Tues or so? One in March if we miss it. Clear here for a few days but been a very wet winter.

Sorry about your summer. Not much Hayabusa riding huh. Heck, 18 years in Western Wa on the Oly peninsula we got rain! Out there I was riding BMW"s. Boxers, 70's bikes. I rode my fully faired R100RS bout year round! (no black ice) Yeah your feet may get wet but mostly if you stay moving you stay dry!!! You know that though.

Hi Shawnee,

Fingers crossed that there's less & less of that Fukushima Fall-out falling-in with your rain, but I guess that's wishful thinking for all-of-us LOL ! I do try to do at least 1-lap around the island at least once-a-year ( day-trip ), but the windy conditions only helped isolated bush-fires everywhere, not me lol !

I've just fitted-up some nice rubber to the bike ( the last of my Pirelli Super Corsa SC-1's ), so hopefully a warm autumn ( fall ) will allow me to to my trip. The problem is that there's a few places on the west-coast here that get rain 360-days of the year, so mid-summer is the best time to do it. This doesn't mean of course that other great riding isn't to be had. In fact, with everyone now back into work-mode, a careful selection of days should see a great east-coast ride & back from St.Helen's. This road has everything in it, even some 100-mph passes here & there, but it's generally a roller-coaster ride through a few mountain passes to get to the coast, where average speed might be 50-mph...Thousands of many & varied bends however, & at my age, getting the big-girl through those bends & back-home-safe is more than reward enough for a great days ride. Everyone can ride a bike fast, you just open the throttle-up, but to get one of these babies home & in good time is rewarding. It's about a 400-km round-trip, & I do it well under 4-hours, including a 10-15-miute stop at the gas-station for a drink stuff.

Ciao,

Rastus

Sounds like a fun trip, and quick! I haven't ridden in a few years now. Not sure if I will again however some good riding in KY. Also Tail of the Dragon in one of the Carolinas is popular.
