Sure, with the most recent release of Tesla's cyber-truck it's clear that they will be a niche market vehicle... But is that so bad?
A niche market is sustainable - even profitable if marketed and priced properly... but it's not market domination kinda stuff...
Elon Musk has been surfing the break for quite sometime, I have to give him some credit at this point - even if his most resent starship blew up during a pressure test... the thing looked exactly like something off of WB's Marvin the Martian cartoon... I can only imagine it was used to see how far they could push the envelope but I could already tell that thing wasn't going to be safe - let alone make it to space just by looking at it... Much like how I know the new Cyber-Truck is more or less an aggressive design to appeal to a niche market.
