Wondering what everyone thinks is better, the 5.56 or the .233? The 5.56 can fire Remington .223 but the Remington .223 cannot fire the more powerful 5.56. Plus the M16 uses the NATO 5.56!
Figured I'd ask around in here since I know we have a few gun guru's... what are your thoughts?

Chamber pressure is higher on the 5.56x45, than the .223. So, if you want to be able to shoot both, get the rifle/pistol chambered in 5.56mm. It doesnt matter which platform you use. Thats more ergonomics and style than function.
Conversely, if you want to shoot 7.62x51, get the rifle chambered in .308, then you can shoot both. Winchester .308 has a higher chamber pressure than 7.62 NATO.

I have an old Winchester model 100 in .308. It's probably been 25 years since I've fired it. I did find out last year that it was recalled in the 90's for a firing pin problem. I called them up to see if that recall was still active, and they sent me the parts kit to do the recall myself. This way if I ever use it I won't have to worry.
Mostly what I have been doing in recent years is sporting clays with the 12ga. I have 2 Brownings, a Maxus, and an old Automatic 5. There is a great place for it about 10 miles from where I live, but I haven't gone out this year yet.
