I seen Cypress Hill in their early days when my buddy was working event security at the time. It's not really Rock and Roll, it's more or less a rap song about being a Rockstar.
Popular with the 1990's burbanites.
I was going to dress up as a Rockstar this Halloween, but the wife still refuses to visit Detroit anymore! I did a little testing of the waters in Detroit today and did the best I could, lol
Instead of buying expensive costume accessories and paying a massive amount for a room I did my usual rounds of the three Casinos, Greektown, Motor City and MGM Grand and then spread the rest around and got the woman Chinese since because she still refuses to go to Detroit, even for dinner at Fishbones!... It was fun as I haven't been there since at least March 2020 but they have since used COVID to ban smoking inside the Casino which honestly was one of the biggest draws for me... I hope they bring it back because I like having a smoke at the Roulette table. It's just not the same!
All things said, I didn't have to wear a mask and while the atmospere is improving it's not quite even close to being there yet. Very small attendance numbers as many people feel the same as the woman and simpily will not go.
The Stones are in town on the 15th of November... mulling taking the old man but even he sounded a little worried about COVID... of course his excuse was the tickets were too expensive! LOL... might have to see about that.
But it's proof that Detroit is back open for business! If a guy dressed like I was above can walk around Downtown Detroit between three Casinos a day before Halloween then I'd have to say it's as good as it's ever been! Although I am sure tonight it's a mad house!
So I never quite got the actual "Rockstar" look I wanted since I was lacking a few costume pieces. There is always next year.

So I thought that this would be a good thread to continue on with, simply to remind us of some great Rock Superstars that have been among us, & rocked-us-out. Great idea SELLC ;)!!!
That's the first time I have ever heard that song and I consider myself a David Bowie fan! Must have been more popular outside of the USA, because it sure didn't get much air time over here or I would have heard it.
Good call on the thread change up too Rastus!
We never did give Charlie Watts a proper send-off here on the forum. Although The Rolling Stones is regularly spun in the V8 Cafe - I'd like to dedicate this one to a legendary drummer, Charlie Watts! RIP!
Only Watts could have come up with such an intro... pure talent!

This is good too...It was very popular at the time, being on the radio & TV every-other-day, & used for the 1976 Montreal Olympics...I may have posted it in here already somewhere, but all good tunes are worth listening to over & over... The band is ELP, & only the Carl Palmer, the drummer survives to this day sadly. ( Emerson, Lake & Palmer )
The dude playing bass ( 4-string, low register guitar ) is Chas Chandler...And he took "this guy" over to England, became a star, & then in 1967 returned to the US-of-A via recommendation by the Beatles, to play at the Monterey Music Festival. And things were never the same again...
Moving right along...Here's an awesome tune by a personal fave band of mine, that not only proves an awesome reply to your above post, but the words indicate that nothings changed in 50-years either...
I just can't believe that it's been 30-years since Freddie Mercury moved-on out-of-here, & today marks that anniversary. Anyhow, here's a great snapshot of the band playing at "Live Aid " in 1985 ( Remember those days where everyone put in some money to help starving people around the world get fed ?...And today we give them COrona VIrus Disease 2019 )...
RIP Mr Mercury, you were a charitable person & an awesome musician ;) !
Apologies...When I searched the tune out, I picked the one with the most hits/views, figuring it would have Ozzy on the vocals...That said, the drummer is a dude called Bobby Rondinelli, he's pretty awesome imo, & you can check more of his work out on this next tune from Rainbow...
I seen Steely Dan in concert back in the 1990's at Pine Knob (Now DTE Theater).
They were very good live! They emit good vibes!
Oddly enough I just realized the video in my post above is the original song to video clips of the movie... this is the song that was editited for the movie and appears on the soundtrack... seems like they just switched the begginging with the ending, but it layered real well in the movie for the scene it was used.

At about the 04:00 minute mark, the new tune that comes on is from a 1978 Cheech & Chong film called "Up in smoke"...And the band playing it is called "War", that's coinsidently posted up above in an earlier post with Eric Burdon playing "Spill the wine"...
Sadly, "West Bruce & Laing" only made 2 x studio albums & 1 x live album before folding back in 1973...And the 2nd studio album "Whatever turns you on" is equal only to the first album, so we really lucked-out here, with a couple of hidden gems.
Enjoy this one ya'll !!!

Iron Maiden are a great band !!! Awesome to have them as your first ever rock concert.
Queen were my first back in 1985, on the "Works Tour"...Pretty good show too...I have a bootleg video / dvd of the Sydney show which is excellent, though I was at the Melbourne show. I still have a T-shirt somewhere too...
Def Leppard's Pyromania is a great album. I had it myself right-up until someone ripped-it-off lol ! These guys had that "production" in their sound that got-'em lot's of radio-play when compared to other bands around at the same time ( Judas priest, Dio, Motley Crew etc etc ) & they had strong, memorable tunes too, that suited the times right through to the end-of-the-eighties.
* For my $00:02, in the live arena, it's pretty-hard to reproduce that studio-glossy-perfect sound, & I'm not sure how Leppard fared in this arena...I'm not sure if they even have a "live" album available, as that's what I mostly get into, peoples live albums...Quite often, a little-bit of sound quality is given-up for an extraordinary performance with live albums.
