There would not be a need for NATO if it weren't for China and Russia! Who is barking at who's gate?

Let's just hope he is trying to warm up to Putin in an effort to de-escalate... He claims that May 9th the War will end... We will see.

I'd hate to think of the Pope on the take... I know to some that may seem, well... given the size and wealth of the Vatican.

I just worry such a statement will only embolden Putin and not have the desired outcome... Or perhaps the Pope is dirty and wants war?

I'd say we need to send the Nuns in with their rulers to straighten out Putin... but what do I know... I'm just a Christian.

Just out of curiosity, isn't the Vatican encircled by a two mile border with Italy? YES IT IS!

The 12 founding member countries of NATO are Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

I don't think the Pope was correct in his assessment, given the fact that Italy is a part of NATO and thus protects the Pope. In fact, I find it quite insulting!

I'm sure the Pope does not have anything to say about Russia broadcasting a video suggesting they will nuke the entire United Kingdom off the map... because that's not barking at someones gate...

Rastus... the USA is still the best country in the world. 

The pope is looking more and more like a fool every time he opens his mouth! We don't cater to Russia, China OR THE POPE! Maybe under Trump we did, because all he could do was kiss their ass in hopes they might let him set up a hotel there one day but I don't think China or Russia ever really respected Trump... sure, they feared him because the greatest and strongest country on the planet was backing him up, but that's not the same.

The USA is not an evil beast... 

The Pope is a fucking idiot, and so is anyone else who buys what he's saying about Russia! 

Russia would rather KILL thousands of its own countrymen and women, and thousands of innocent Ukrainians rather than take out the Ukrainian Government (Zelenskyy)... that is the kind of EVIL PUTRID scum that Putin is! After this unprovoked attack on Ukraine Putin will probably have to kill every last Ukrainian before that country would ever vote for a pro-Russian politician! Putin is scared of Zelenskyy, that is why he is just killing the people of Ukraine rather than going after the Government!

Putin is a failure... He will go down in history with all his crack-pot dictator pals who were eventually hunted down and killed by their own people for being a murderer! 

The Pope is an asshole for trying to give Putin an excuse... nobody is buying the Pope's bullshit, or yours for that matter!

The people of the US-of-A are mostly fine people, like anywhere else in the world imo.

The issue lays with the US-of-A's National Security interests, & how it needs eternal war-fare to survive, by manufacturing wars.

The Defense Industry of a country imo needs the ability to both compress & expand at need. Compress when not needed to minimum staff, & expand at the need of any outbreak of conflict.

When you have a country that every year pours more & more resources & money into this industry, it's a sure sign that the "grand plan" isn't working, & we have a dog chasing its own tail.

I'm sick of war after war, excuse after excuse, lie after lie...Isn't everyone ???

I don't know Rastus... I think the threat keeps growing and growing, so the cost increase with the threats. I don't know how much money we have poured into Ukraine since Russia invaded but I know it's a LOT! Seems like over a billion or more a few times a month from what I read in the news! And this is just to prop them up so they arent completly mowed down by the USSR. I have my doubts that we will get any of that money back, even if Ukraine did beat back the Russians and re-took their land!

There is something about this Zelenskyy fellow that is just not adding up... I can't quite put my finger on it yet, but it would seem Putin does not want to make a martyr out of him, but the longer he stays in power the more popular he gets! The more popular he gets, the more support he gets from other nations too, not just the USA! This is Putin and the USSR's poor strategy showing it's face - or in the worse case a possible secret aliance between Putin and Zelenskyy to draw the world into war and use up resources... I wouldn't put it past either of them honestly. It's why say that something is not adding up! If the USSR really was in this war with Ukraine to WIN then their FIRST order of business would have been to topple the Government and either capture or kill Zelenskyy to destabalize the government and perhaps get someone else in there who would not garner as much support as Zelenskyy has... then there is the fact Russia has been rolling it's outdated junk into Ukraine while they use our expensive munitions to destroy it... 

Something is up... and the Pope isn't helping matters any.

It's really not that complicated a conspiracy. Putin is old school KGB from before the USSR broke up. Those were the glory days to him, when the entire world feared them. Now, since that empire has been shattered, and some former USSR territories identify far more closely with the European Union than they do with Russia, and some even want to join NATO, it pains Putin deeply. He is apparently dying of a terminal illness, and wants a legacy for himself before he checks out. What better legacy than conquering the former territories and reassembling the USSR?

That's all this has ever been about... Putin reminiscing about the old days, and wanting a legacy for himself. And he'll allow every last Russian man of fighting age to die in order to achieve his legacy too. Let's just hope Putin dies first and Russia can actually choose its leadership for the first time in decades.

America does have a military industrial complex problem, that's not in doubt. But America didn't conspire to make the invasion of Ukraine happen if that's what some think. We are however using the opportunity to weaken Russia to the extent possible. The world needs to make an example out of Russia so other arrogant dictatorships don't try to pull the same crap. And if our military industrial complex has higher profits as a result, so be it.

I'm leaning with PS's theory on he wants his legacy since he is dying anyway. However, I wonder if there is even more to this on a deeper level than what we are told.

Is what fake news reports true? War torn Kiev, the fighting etc? I have seen recent vids of Kiev and life is going on as normal. I need a rifle, rifling button. Guy in Ukraine makes them. Someone asked shipping times? He says a week to US.

It would appear now that the Popes words of encouragement for Putin have manifested themselves in Putin's recent mad-man rantings...

When I pray to the all-mighty it's not Pope Francis, or Putin! Although tonight I may say a prayer for them both, as clearly they have lost their way. 

There is a changing world order, but it's in no way going to help Putin or Russia because they bring nothing to the table... at least for the USA.

They may sell their oil and gas for cheap right now, because they are pretty much on life support and nearing 3rd world status... but make no mistake, Putin is losing it!

I will pray that God's "real" messanger gets with those who have lost their way. But from where I am sitting, as a United States tax payer - watching BILLIONS a month roll out to prevent a monster like Putin from genocide in Ukraine, it's clear to me who the REAL monsters are and it's not the USA! The more and more Putin goes off the deep in mentally, the more and more I think it's imperative that we pepper the entire surrounding territories with batteries upon batteries of missiles to intercept any future USSR ICBM's... I also hope whatever is going on with Space Force, they are also coming up with other ways to do the same thing... 

With Putin talking about "rolling back" the Sovereign status of old Russian bloc nations, it's CLEAR he's above all the history that brought down the USSR and joined Russia with the rest of the world. It's clear that PUTIN and the Russian people are pulling away from the world as they kill their own countrymen in Putin's insecure desire to overturn already estabilshed deals... When you think about it, companies like McDonalds, AMEX, Visa and MasterCard pulling out of his country - it's not because they are canceling him, it's because he refuses to honor his commitments! The sick part is there are actually people out there, Pope Francis included, that seem to think Russia should not have to abide by it's promises, and that the genocide in Ukraine is justifiable so that Putin can get his way, the people of Russia and Ukraine be damned.
